Although flunitrazepam and nitrazepam are benzodiazepines for sleeping aid. So if he not had any tolerance to them, they should help him sleep taken separate.

Dont think so really. Think he wanted a good high (I dont blame him. Who doesnt?). He mixed painkillers (opiods), sleeping and anxiety pills (benzodiazepines). Mixing opiods and benzodiazepines can make it hard to breath and kill you. But it also a good drugcombination. If you have no tolerance to such substances it's easy to overdose.
