Listen carefully to the Dr. , they plant false memories during the experiments. Regarding Alyssaloveslife's friend. a competent therapist/psychiatrist is not supposed to "plant" memories of anything. Your friends memories are probably true and someone along the line told her it was False memory syndrome which to her psyche is a relief of sorts , because we and her wish it was not so and we try our hardest to forget bad memories. Abusers hardly ever confess. FMS is being grossly misused ,
Many many years ago a girl friend of mine was going through intensive therapy for alleged sexual abuse from her father and her uncle. This memories brought about attempts at suicide and destroyed the lives of her boys at the time she was going through all this. Years later she learned of False Memory Syndrome. With research she realized these memories were implanted by her therapist. Be very very very careful when going through therapy and when they are trying to bring up these memories.
I eventually remembered most of that episode of sexual abuse and picture taking.
I confronted my abuser.Of course he denied it , and now I was called crazy. I went to a psychiatrist. during the first session, he asked whether I thought this was 'false memory'. I completely lost trust in this psychiatrist and never went back. I think False memory is a lazy way out of helping people.
some memories are too unbelievable for people who have not endured abuse to comprehend so we throw them FMS.
30 years ago my younger brother would come back from outings with a dear friend of ours with ridiculous stories. That he had met famous people, etc.., he seemed to be walking rather strangely and his stories were unbelievable, he said he was being touched in his behind. We thought he was crazy and told him so. At one time he contemplated suicide. Never went to a psychiatrist. Family handled it.
over the years I began to experience 'flashbacks' of an experience at that same 'dear friend's place
FMS was planted by the CIA to discredit those victims who were used in Project MK Ultra
No doubt this Lofton has had her brain worked on in the same fashion

how does one tell if memories are false or not? I remember a lot of things from when I was a kid, and I know they're real and not false.
