what r the best kind of cymbals to get a good "smash/bash" (lack of a better word) sound from. all of mine are low pitch and i need a good crash thats not low pitch
@Jellybeanman0925 yeah i got a 14" A custom for that kinda lighter sound. if your wanting to save some cash, look at stagg thin 14" crashes, i've played on them for rehearsal purposes and they are actually quite good.
@chrisjmanton cymbal warranties usually will only cover cracks that weren't created by misuse of the cymbal. ie, if the cymbal is cracked on the edge 9 times out of ten it's because the drummer has been using incorrect cymbal technique and/or hitting too hard. Most 'warranty cracks' are bell splits that are horizontal. Hope this helps.
@captaincadavor weird... i have some 30 year old zildjians being used at least once a week in those 30 years, and they have no cracks or dents at all.
@captaincadavor i play pretty hard too lol but i have good felts and plastic covers for the stands, so that helps. And, when i not playing them, i take good care of them.
@ringostarrkicksass I play zildjian because it sounds the best to me. Zildjian's entry level cymbals basically suck, but in my opinion, the avedis, a customs, and k customs sound amazing compared to other brands
@mrTooKanSam thats y i play sabian foo!!!! screw zildjian "i play zildjian because everyone else does, i love a customs cause everyone else does" not really but that seems like whats going on. thats y i play SABIAN!!!! LOSERS!!!!! 4 years with them and 1 crash berly cracked, its a sabian b8
@BarfProductionz Duh you fucking retard. You cracked it NOT because it was thin but because you have no technique. Cracking a cymbal is the ultimate factor of poor technique. Get a drum teacher.
@RockHardTeam I'm sorry but I have to agree with BarfProductionz. Especially if it was cracked in less than a month. A cymbal lasts forever as long as you hit it correctly no matter how thin it is.
i play armands. they sound about 5X better. i own a 16" ZBT which i don't play because it's shitty. don't act like i'm ripping on ziljian. zbt's are alright, but compared to any other cymbals, even sabian b8's, they suck
Yeah... But Zildjian makes like 10 different kinds of innovative cymbals. I have A customs and they are unbelievable. ZBTs are bad but they are also zildjians lowest end cymbal....
Still,Sabians rule the studio...Zildjians are loud and smooth sounding,But sabian has created much more diverse and solid sounds that just can't be replicated by other companys...
meh i have a sabian cymbal and zildjian, and crash to crash, i like the quality of one zildjain over it, but the sabian sounds better then the rest of my cymbals. It depends on what kind, and zildjain has some innovative cymbals too, but i know what your saying
That's only opinion... Zildjian still rules the world in cymbals! Not to mention, they make a variety of different kinds that are innovative. Sabians are best for studio, though... But nothing beats zildjians for quality! Paiste is really nice too....
Paiste is best in my opinion. I had a $240.00 Zildjian set, but I sold them to my neighbor because I didn't like the sound at all, I wish I had the Black Alpha Slipknot set, they look so bad ass...
90% of the budget cymbals around today are far better than what was around some years ago. Zyn for examply. However they too had budget and a top line range. Great video though, should make you think twice about killing cymbals with sticky tape!
Yeah I'm used to playing ZBTs B8s ZXTs and all that. I like the ZHTs but now I play Sabian AA, AAX Paiste Twenty, 2002, Sig Zildjian A, A Custom, K but i like the ZXT Trashformer!!!
I think it's pointless to stick with just one brand because all brands have their great things (unless you're endorsed of course). But I do like Paiste more than Zildjian and Sabian. But I think they are all good.
Yea, i've heard alot of good things about Paiste, i'd love to be endorsed by them when i go pro. (That or Sabian, i might go with the APX) but i can never find them. How much are they?
They are usually the most expensive out of the big 3 (Zildjian, Sabian, and Paiste). I use their top of the line Signature series as well as the Twenty series. You can get them usually at any music store...
why don't you close your eye's when choosing cymbals, its an ear thing. I have a 5 Star Super Zyn 15" Hat top with a Z bottom. Never thought it would work but it does. forget brand names
I do actully close my eyes. :D but im sticking with one cause your not gonna go pro with a bunch of mixed up cymbals. But again, how much are Paiste's?
My 16'' Signature crash was $230. The 18'' inch cymbals cost around $300 and 20'' and up are from $350-400. I want to get a Traditionals series Medium Light Ride which is $476...
It depends on the series of Paiste. There are many different types. Its worth checking out the Paiste website. They have sound clips etc. You can buy cheap lines like the 101's or spend a fortune on the top line stuff. Its worth checking Ebay. Look out for 505's. very close in build and sound to the 2002's but usually a lot less as many don't realise how good they are. 602's are outstanding if you want that type of sound,Believe it or not I am using a 5 Star Super Zyn 22" instead of my K
I had a set of ZBT's that lasted me about 3/4 years and I flogged the shit out of them...
