Apparently the pilgrim who bath themselves in Lavacolla (near the SDC's airport) before arriving is not adequate enough that the church had to resort to this mean of removing the smell.

Nice, but its also funny like a flaming wrecking ball or something, I guess it is very old as the church of compostila is an early pilgrimage site in europe for those that cant make it to the holy land, and the large incense was to mask the odor of the many travelers that would go there and they would not smell too pleasent so the large thuribal to not only praise God but cover up the smell.
