  • beautiful!...sure it cost a bloody fortune though...

  • So you put the fish in before the pond was finished??? One spill from the screed mixer, one leak from the liner, one leak from any of the chemicals used......... and all the fish are dead!

Really good result, the pond looks great, but please, build the thing then add the livestock!

  • Don't mind if I ask but can you swim in the pond with the fishes? Is it ok to do that? Just asking because I'm curious.

  • @theunknownable1 You can... but you don't want to do that. You are bad for the fish - you have too many chemicals and stuff on your skin and hair. And besides, the fish are having sex in there!

  • Totally awesome!

  • AWESOME! How much did it cost in total???

  • @Naizgroth

    28K

  • @TheHawkfan61 You did a good job at utilizing your resources. Good Job!

  • Oh and have you every swim in it ?

  • @KarlaCervantes89

Yes, if you watch the video until the end, there I am in the water.

  • what happens if it rains ? will it fill up

  • @KarlaCervantes89

Nope, overflow pipe takes care of it.

  • Sorry for being nosey, what did all that cost you??? Hahaha...

  • awesome but watch out for herons.

  • @KingofPho75 a heron wont take a large carp/koi

  • IT'S BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!

  • hell fk a pond thats a spa , pool....

  • Thanks for sharing. How much was the total cost?

  • you guys did this all yourself? how much was supplies?

  • i like how u did not just get red black and white ones, there nice and all but there to generic i like the blue yellow orenge and long finned ones (if they all look the same then they are all useless u could get one fish if u want 1 color type), u also did a nice job with the pond

i forget the name but issent there this one koi type that is green and brownish yellow

  • i like how u did not just get red black and white ones, there nice and all but there to generic i like the blue yellow orenge and long finned ones (if they all look the same then they are all useless u could get one fish if u want 1 color type)

  • now i can actually say i feel like swimming with the fishes

  • dream pond

  • Man, I really wish I could have a pond like that! I could breed the koi & sell them & get some good money as well.

  • we like the pond look at the one us kids are building by hand with the help of just are daddy! posting a video underneath.

  • reading the comment I think most of you think that you talk to the guy talking in the video, thats not the owner-dave

  • Nice pond how much did the whole project cost? and do they cost a lot to maintain?

  • cool koi pond

  • Is there a mix of female and male koi in your pond.. if so have any of them laid eggs...

  • @12Johnnguyen

Eggs every year. They get eaten as no plants for eggs to hide out in. 10 years ago I harvested some eggs, 100 babies. Still have 2 of the nicer ones, gave the rest away.

  • @hawkfan61 i want a baby koi fish and why no plants or nothing?

  • @12Johnnguyen

Every year for the last 18 years. Have only saved babies once as they eat the eggs. No plants in my ponds, no place for the eggs to attach and hide. Saved some eggs once 10 years ago and still have two of the fish. Rest were given away. These fish were in another pond at our old home until 3 years ago.

  • Rangen food in the summer. Our club buys it in large quantities. High Protein. Fall and winter use wheat germ based food. Keep the water above 50 degrees with the well water which is 60 degrees year round.

  • Thank-you for the reply. I was also woundering what types of food you can and you are feeding them?

  • Where did you get the Koi, and for how much«««««««

  • @12Johnnguyen

Several from a dealer in Oklahoma. $200 for a couple, the rest did video work and traded for them, kept my wife happy that way. No money had to change hands.

  • Thanks hawkfan61...we are just getting ours up and running...just noted the first sign of ammonia today after 3 weeks...I guess I'm like a new mother...very nervous!

  • @susanjgonzo You are keeping on top of it, that is what is important. A little

ClorAm-X or Amquel will help eliminate the Ammonia, but will still feed the filter bacteria. Good luck.

  • Nicely done video....I can't believe you put koi in there before you poured the cement! That must have been a nail biter!

  • @susanjgonzoThe fish had to be held for 6 weeks in an above ground swimming pool. Could not wait any more. My degree is in Biology, had kept fish for 40 years, know what I am doing. I supervised the concrete installing so we were very careful to not get any in the water. I have a well that puts out 1300 gallons of fresh water an hour. No problem changing out water or handling ammonia and nitrites while filter was kicking in, Lost no fish in transfer. 3 years later all is well.

  • can you swim in there with the koi?

  • @hotrainrider

Yep, notice the end of the video.

  • now i am sure you are not willing to say what you spent but my educated guess would be 10,000 dollars with out the cost of labor? is that roughly right? and i wish i had that in my back yard. sweet work

hey if i win the lotto i am calling these guys.

  • @LarpingOgerofMI

    28,000

  • any maintenece needed?

  • @Supercucu123

About 10 minutes a week, not counting feeding the fish and enjoyment time.

  • how much did that all cost

  • nice fish and pond,

if you like carp videos come to our channel and check out our videos updated frequently. subscribe to keep updated. thanks

  • thats one of the best i have seen , must of cost a bit but well worth it cos it looks fantastic good job

  • I feel kind like sorry for your Kois with all the STRESSSS that the noise + dust that +_ New water ... they have to endure with your new pond ... and I hope that you are not loosing them by puting too many of them TOO SOON in your new pond at the same time and I hope that your HighTechBioFilter really work ... I am praying for your BEAUTIFUL KOIS ... let me know the result ... and Thanks for sharing the video

  • @wwwvinnytrancom Not to worry. It was well water, they had been in the same temp and type of well water at our previous address. Noise and dust was not a problem. We were careful. Three years later, all is fine, no fish losses. I can add 1300 gallons an hour of fresh well water any time I want. Helped with getting the new filter started. Never had any ammonia or nitrite spikes. Thanks for the concern.

  • dam you spent some cash!!!!!!!

  • how long did it take for the whole process to be finished

  • @MrPoopsticks123

8 days on the pond, 1 day for the cement patio.

  • How big are the jumbo koi's ?

  • @yytboii 20 lbs on the largest one.

  • u need a fence now

  • @Elroy1613 One was built a couple of days after fish were introduced. Go to Dave's Koi Pond Today and you will see the fence and what landscaping looks like today.

  • Where did you get those koi? there huge! haha

  • wow that IS a high tech pond

  • what happens at winter? dont the pond freeze and all the fishies die :(?

  • @RichinGunz

No, they can become dormant when water gets down in the lower 40 degree F. You have to keep holes in the ice for O2 exchange. I have a well that puts out 60 degree water in the winter, they stay nice and warm.

  • depending on what size u buy the koi it comes pretty cheap i bought a 3 inch koi for about 1$ and have been raiseing it for about 3 years now its grown to 10 inches now

  • Fish = Beautiful

    Pond = Extremely Awesome

    Me = Very Jealous

    Lol :)

  • those are japanese koi. they cost a lot of money. damnnn. wish i have a pond like that.

  • omg look at all those koi!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you must atleast spent a fortune on thoseeeee!!!!!!!!!

  • @Duhitpt

Not so much money changed hands. Did video work for the importer and traded for fish.

  • I would've preferred trout or pike or even bass. I think that would've made it cooler.

  • im beyond jealous

  • @dolittle1992 Thanks, we have really enjoyed the pond now for three years next month.

  • I'm just curious as to how you convinced your wife to letting you follow through with the project LOL. Nontheless, awesome, awesome, awesome pond.

  • @MrJimbobwae She got a new VW in the trade off.

  • realy enjoyed that

  • wow thats amazing, ty for sharing!

  • yeah me pond me wats i see u used my advice and went the half downs with two me uos much easier than re cutting me dry miks

  • How much did it cost for the pond completion (excluding the patio work) ? As well as each individual koi including the exquisite dragon koi you have at 6:19 ? And lastly i have a small pond that is 9x18 with 21 small koi about 5 inch in size at the moment, i was wondering if having different wild life such as frogs and two red eared turtles would be detrimental to the koi's?

  • @SoungOunJun

If you mean the orange butterfly I believe it was $75, the large yellow one was $4.95. Pond was about $28,000 with filter, installation, etc. No frogs or turtles are recommended. Can carry disease. Some of the koi were about $1500 or less when small, but got most by doing video for importer and traded. No cash changed hands.

  • The fish had to be held for 6 weeks in an above ground swimming pool. Could not wait any more. My degree is in Biology, had kept fish for 40 years, know what I am doing. I supervised the concrete installing so we were very careful to not get any in the water. I have a well that puts out 1300 gallons of fresh water an hour. • Good fishes, bad work....how can you work (with the cement, concrete) while the fishes swimming? Fishes to the end, my friends...

  • now thats a sexy pond!!

  • wwwwooooowwwwwwww great!!

  • can you post up another video of what it loks like now, now that it is more established?

  • Pouring cement next to a pond full of fish is bloody brave, but you guys pulled it off! Amazing achievement :)

  • thanks for posting. very inspiring!

  • retro music

  • very nice pond man,,,great work.

  • Awsome pond!! Really gorgious fish!!! I wouldn't even know where tobigin a project like this one. So hats off to you for getting it done!!

  • must be cost thousand dollar. great job

  • Rule of thumb is have at least 200 gallons or more per fish as they grow big. Also need a good filter system to remove Ammonia and nitrites that result from the fish metabolism.

  • really big pond... how small can koi ponds be in order for them to live properly?

  • would have been a crazy hot tub...never mind ;)

  • Man, this is very useful info. thanks!

  • Hello, I am Czech and I'm sorry for my English. Could you put on the Internet looks like your pond now? By the way, you have the nicest pool I've ever seen.

  • 9250 gallons, 14 ft wide, 23 ft long, 8 day build,

  • @hawkfan61 only 8 day build, man thats quick for that sized pond

  • does anybody know the gallons of water and the width and the length thanks and how much it cost how many days to build supplies needed

  • 9,250

  • how many gallons

  • Dave, I am learning video development and would like to know where you found the music that was used here?

Outstanding pond construction, great video, INSPIRING !!!

  • im a frasier show addict his brother niles's always mentioning his & his wife

maris' koi pond - always gets lols

never actually had seen a real koi pond b4

just yped in koi pond in the search box

    yours is a beaut

  • wow, your koi pond is beautiful! :) i bet it'd also be a great investment for beautifying the back yard!

  • We don't put plants in a true Koi pond. Messes up the water, 20 lb fish tear up plants. Pond was built 2 1/2 years ago in Kansas. Fish were traded for video work I did for the importer. Some were being sold for $1500 when about 10 inches long. Some of these are now 17 years or older. They lived in another pond at our previous home.

  • That is so awesome! I think it'd look pretty good with some plants and stuff but of course at the time you just finished it. How much did the whole thing cost and what state do you live in? Also how much were one of your bigger kois?

Anyway Fantastic pond! on the bigger side from what i've seen but definitely well built.

  • wow the water looks nice :D

  • im so jealous the pond is awesome its deep enough for you to even swim in lol

  • The fish had been held for 6 weeks in an above ground swimming pool. Time to get them out. We have a freshwater well, can change water very quickly. The cement contractor was very careful not to get any residue into water. He didn't. The cement was dry enough to walk on in 3 hours. Special hardening compound in cement.

  • why did u decided to put fish and water in before u do cement and stamp the red powder?

  • but it is a extreamly beautiful pond

  • its toodeep ithink you can pro,lly rarely see your fish :(

  • @bokaria1 Certainly are, all 26. 2 1/2 years later. Some are now 18 years old.

  • i have a 6000 gallon pond with about 20 12'' koi

  • @bokaria1, it can be as expensive as you want it to be. I did most of the work myself on my pond which is 43000 liters big, and i'm running on 5000 euro's total, garden plus pond. Only my fishstock was already mine. It's my third koipond. look up my video.

  • The water is way to crowded for an new pond. This is asking for trouble. First let the filter and water settle, by just adding a couple of small koi, to start up the filter. Then later on, the following weeks gradually build up the number of fish in the pond. Beware of the nitrate peak first. the filter isnt ready to handle that much fish all at ones. But pondwise, its a really nice pond.

  • @bjorngroen In most cases that is correct. However I have a water well that puts in 1300 gallons an hour. I have kept fish for over 40 years and have alot of experience with them. The fish were kept in a 4000 gallon above ground swimming pool for six weeks, time to move them all. They were in a pond in our previous home for many years. I tested everyday, any ammonia levels, I added fresh water until filter kicked in. Took only 14 days for that to happen.

  • As much as it costs, I think it would be totally worth it.

  • awesome job mate the pond looks fantastic!

  • very nice

  • your pond looks so cool

  • the money the man must have spent for this pond is something i can only ever dream of doing.

  • those are some lucky koi :)

  • 28 k

  • 8 working days.

  • @bokaria1 A total of 11 days, if you can beleive it! Had some rain and irrigation problems but it went fairly quick for a job this extensive.

  • wow great job

  • He must have spent about $5-10,000 on the koi alone. Very nice. The only thing i would have done is not pour concrete all around the filter etc. It will make it tough to work on if something goes wrong later. I prefer to keep everything around the pond movable.

  • @Hodmokrin

Actually don't have any concrete around the filter system, only around the side by the walkout from the house. The filter system is all above ground under our deck and now enclosed in an insulated room. Appreciate the kind comments. Actually got most of the Koi for no cash, traded importer for video work I did for him.

  • omg that pond is gorgeous

  • Yes, not a lot. Fun though watching the fish underwater.

  • do you go swimming in it?

  • if you got the money, then hell go for it lol

    Good job btw

  • Would like to add that I would like to see an update of the pond a little more aged

  • The best and complete, I believe, pond build I have seen thus far!

  • Great video. Awesome koi pond. Thanks for sharing.

  • this is the most awesome koi pond i've ever seen. great job. love you house.

  • Hey hawkfan61! Builder here, wanted to thank everyone for the great comments, it was a truly fun project! FYI I am the # 32,000 veiwer, awesome!

  • fantastic build

  • nice job boys !!!!

    well done.

geoff from the BIGPOND company England

  • Finally, I see a "Koi pond" video with a real "Koi pond" in it.

  • Thank you gigman, that is what we planned.

  • Mission accomplished! Look great too by the way.

  • you make me so jealous

  • great! Love the pond and the koi.

  • I love it..

  • Nice pond ya got there.

  • was going so well until you just put those lovely koi fish in the old fishermans way using a net! they need to climatise to their new surroundings gradually.

Other than that, what an amazing pond!

  • Thanks for the comment on the lovely fish. However it was not a fisherman type net I was using. It is an official Koi Sock. Fine net to avoid fins getting caught, open on the bottom, just let it go and they fall out. They had been in a holding tank for 6 weeks in well water. The new pond had also well water of the same temps and Ph. I had owned the fish for 14 years in another pond before moving to the holding tank and then into the new pond. Very well climatised, no losses.

  • how much would this cost? I've always wanted a koi pond.

  • i like the set-up, but im missing the plants. what do you do with your no3?

  • Usually no plants in a true Koi Pond. Water changes to get rid of the Nitrates. I have a water well so I can change much water on a regular basis. Never show any nitrates with tests in the 2 1/2 years the pond has been running.

  • Wow, awsome..

  • would be AWESOME! with arowanas in there!

  • Wow. Fascinating. Great Job man. Amazing.

  • are you guy based out of Leawood Kansas

  • I own the pond, in Derby, Kansas. Builders are in Leawood.

  • ours was expensive!

  • hello, I know more or less the cost of the pond? and its pond was very pretty

  • Zibilu123, where do you live. My pond is in Kansas, USA.

  • Well I live in Brazil because? and you still have not answered me? (The same is I'm using the google translator) and what has been your pond is the tired and it just want to know how much it cost to make it?

  • beautiful pond i wish to make one like this soon

  • no rebar for the concrete deck? whoops....

  • I'm japanese.Great Koi pond. You are wonderful. And to my admiration. All Koi`s are summing comfortablly .Sure they are happy more than you .I really think so.

  • cool im bilding a koi pond

  • Awesome job guys! That pond looks great. Im sure there will be many years of enjoyment out of it.

  • Have enjoyed very much now for 2 years and a few months. No problems yet.

  • Simply stunning. This shows me pretty much EXACTLY what I am going to be doing, except I am going to be doing a two story type pond, with water fall.

  • i wish i could swim in my fish pond .. lol

  • You can.... You just get in. It's not that hard when you know how. LOL!

  • How much did it cost you for everything here?

  • Dude, thats an awesome and HUGE pond! Wish I can have one like that someday soon!
