Iran is such a country of contrasts. Before the Islamic revolution Iran was practically a European country in terms of rights for women and men and Persian culture has a long history of human rights. Just since 1979 has a lot of this stupid crap like mandatory hijab and arbitrary sharia come around. Having in the pst two days had the pleasure of being able to chat to a number of Iranian woman face to face outside of the confines of their own country - and thus normally dressed in jeans and t shirt and no headscarves. I can say they not just being a very beautiful race of woman but more importantly incredibly intelligent, clean hearted, thoughtful and extremely interesting . To anyone who doesn't know yet, Iran wasn't always like this. Pre- Khomeini, I guess you could say Shah and earlier, the peoples were much more liberated, as in a large western influence. Women could have dresses, you could drink wine at a party, this right now is all Khomeini ideology. To me this sucks.

Iran is such a country of contrasts. Before the Islamic revolution Iran was practically a European country in terms of rights for women and men and Persian culture has a long history of human rights. Just since 1979 has a lot of this stupid crap like mandatory hijab and arbitrary sharia come around. Having in the pst two days had the pleasure of being able to chat to a number of Iranian woman face to face outside of the confines of their own country - and thus normally dressed in jeans and t shirt and no headscarves. I can say they not just being a very beautiful race of woman but more importantly incredibly intelligent, clean hearted, thoughtful and extremely interesting . To a person they all hated what the Islamic regime has done to their country.
