  • Toyota Century compared to Bentley and Rolls Royce? What the hell are you dripping on about? Two are hand made by craftsmen, the other is a piece of Japanese plastic with a few buttons scattered over it. I honestly believe you have no idea of what luxury is. I have spent my life around cars, Toyota and Lexus (same brand) are absolute crap compared to RR and Bentley. I bet 99% of you have never driven a Lexus, let alone a Roller. You compare on paper, pathetic.

  • This car was ready for junior high school, such as Japanese politicians. Japanese people must feel, to Japan's resources without sufficient Corolla.

I will tell everyone in the world!

In Japan, Toyota is a low-wage workers employed in a time-limited. Toyota's essence, it is a brutal business.

  • Lexus's Daddy

  • this is for CEOs, Senators, and Governers in Japan.

  • 世界には王族や金持ちが乗る車はいくらでも在るが、この車は皇帝陛下が乗る別格のくるまです。

  • It's ugly.. You have lot's of choice for great luxury cars, not this, omg... BMW 7 Series, Merc S Class, Audi A8, Rolls Royce Phantom, Bentley Mulsanne, Lexus LS, etc...

  • @JodyGmsN1kK

Toyoyta Century is in a league above all those cars you've mentioned, Century is up against cars like the Rolls Royce Phantom and Bentley Mulsanne.

  • Best Car in the World

  • James May quote "I like luxury. It's the new performance" :)

  • Batfa.com writes: US$ 165.000 + Shipping cost + Marine insurance US$ 380.

  • What will be the cost of this car in dollars ??? kindly reply asap

  • Go to wikipedia and search for "Toyota Century". And you will find the answers.

  • Anyone know what years they were made and how much they cost when new.

  • Best car in the world? LOL you must be joking!!!!

  • luxury, luxury and Luxury...accelerate smoothly to the speed you want...eliminate sounds from her outside...by the best high-tech thought about...its called TOYOTA "CENTURY" :D

  • Century. It is used by imperial household in Japan.

    The emblem is very impressive.

The president of the big enterprise in Japan also is using it.

It is not a car that enjoys driving for myself too much.

There is a limousine, too and it has seen several times in Japan.

  • I think Toyota doesn't see a great chance for this old-fashioned car in the abroad. The most luxury car buyers are prefering high-tech cars in this class - like Lexus LS.

  • @Yonifan ......which is a Toyota product.

  • @Yonifan Yes, and they are not the audience for this car, never were- never will be. This is about Japanese luxury for Japanese. These cars are also scattered around the globe for the elite. King of Saudi Arabia has the only working one in the Kingdom.

  • why Toyota didn't sell that car in other country. Europe, USA, Asia, a lot of market. I saw Century a lot in Tokyo

  • It's not a wonder. At example Queen Elizabeth is prefering high class velour in her royal limousines too.

  • believe it or not but leather was a relatively rare option in these century's

  • nice car but i would go with a 760li

  • Rode in two seperate centuries a week ago on business. Of the two, one was the QUIETEST ride in my life! The lack of sound was so complete, I kept thinking the driver was turning the engine off! The silence was almost awkward to me! Hell of a stable ride as well, Crown, S-Class would be pressed to compare.

  • nice car n nice technology. at 1st i thought only s class rule the luxury seqment, but now i know theres a century in japan.

  • Is the Toyota Century available in the Us?

  • No, not at normal Toyota dealers. But you can order this car at Japanese Import Companies....

  • the centery weight in at 6000 thats two supras combined

  • @Sonicku The engine even is two Supra's combined. :P

  • made specifically for the "justin Timberlake's" of japan

  • This car isn't for driver. It is for rear seat passenger. Typically, CEOs & Senators of Japan.

  • Thanks for everything!Although I'm actually a CORVETTE-LOVER,this is the only one Japanese car that I admire!Unfortunately,I could never afford such cars-in my country such luxury vehicles are heavily taxed!Even if you have a good salary, they are almost inaccessible!

  • Is there a LEFT-HAND-DRIVE version of this PRIDE?And how many AIRBAGS does it have?Since what model year? What about 0-100 kph and top speed?

  • by "PRIDE" I take it you mean the Toyota Century. yeah, there is no left-hand drive, this car is Japanese-only. this thing's completely loaded with airbags though. passenger and driver airbags, as well as side+curtain airbags for both front and rear seats. not sure what you mean by your third question, but this this Century generation has been produce since 1997 with minimal changes. 0-100? not fast! (but probably not terribly slow with that V12) Top speed? all JP cars are limited to 185 kph

  • My uncle has a Century in Hong Kong!

  • My grandfather has one here in Tokyo. He drives it to work every day.

  • Yes, but not "official" and without warranty....

  • You can still order one from Japan ) ))

  • But it's a pity that this pride is not for the whole world....

  • Whoever buys this car knows what a car is. It is for those who have accomplished their ambitions successfully. This car is the best LUXURY car in the world.

It is smoother, queiter and more comfortable than any car in the WORLD

THIS is the PRIDE OF JAPAN

  • I love Toyota. This is gold.

  • it is complete luxury!

  • well you know you've made it when you own a car with curtins

  • Indeed this competes with RR and Bentley. This is the best limousine I've seen. Simple, but extremely well done. The design is just outstanding. I simply hate all these new bubblegum cars like Lexus manufactures...

  • why don't they bring this to the U.S, biggest car market and this car would do well here.Lexus took off like a rocket, US has the richest people in the world.

  • If they bring it to the USA it would compete with Lexus. Judging from the fact that Toyota is Lexus's parent company, why would Toyota want to do that?!

  • it can compete with Rolls Royce and Bentley not with Lexus

  • well, this then brings up the issue of competing with a prestige brand like RR using a non-luxury brand like Toyota. Either way the Century won't be doing too well.

  • RR is nothing more than a BMW now, the originjal RR if there ever was one was mostly GM, except for the fenced up body driving a rtolls royce was driving a chevy.....it used GM engine, transmission and suspension parts came from citereon.Atleast Toyota makes the cars themselves

  • That's not what the people care about, is it? As you can see, rich people believe that Rolls-Royce or Maybach is far superior to any Japanese luxury car, and that's why many of Hollywood celebrities prefer European cars rather than Japanese like Lexus.

It's sad but that's the reality. Brand image, man, brand image..

  • @Xiber1 Actually, the LS600h is priced higher than this is. The Century is between the LS460 and the LS600h. But I get what you mean. This car was designed with absolutely ULTIMATE comfort in mind along with classic style. The Lexus, on the other hand, is meant to satisfy all your expectations. It's fast, quiet, sufficiently zippy, and has a wealth of features for the front and rear passengers. My favorite is the footrest in the rear. (I'm a Lexus fan, and I'm not trying bash to this car at all)

  • @Xiber1 Lexus is the luxury arm of Toyota lol.

  • looks like the bentley arnage

  • Because Toyota thinks that this car would not buy anybody in Europe...

  • WHY I CANNOT SEE THIS CAR IN EURO

  • its only sold in japan

  • TOYOTA is the best ever

    TOYO ruleZZZZZZZZZZZ!!!!

  • *lol* Look for the J.D.Power ratings....

  • At approx. $95,000? For that you have a saloon that isn't ugly (superior to the LS460 in that, as in most respects), and available with the 6 litre V12.

  • Look at the curtains, ha ha

  • 10.000? The car would be mine... ;-) I think, you means 100.000....

  • it costs 10,000 dollars

  • no, the new one costs 11 000 000JPY, which is about 103 000$.

Take the shipping cost and the duty to pay and the interest of the seller- it will cost up to 150 000$ in Europe or US.

  • In Norway it would probably cost 3 times more. Cars are really expensive here. :|

  • Well, if you want to get a second-hand century, all you need is 35000$ for a four year old model with leather and LCD inside.

All that's left is a shipping cost and the duty to pay.

Tell me if you're interested in buying a second hand one, can give an advice, as my family has bought one.

  • I could never afford a Century. My current second hand car cost me about 7200$, that was all i could afford, that's considered a very reasonable car in Norway.

35000$ plus shipping and duty would be at least 50 000$ here. We have a very greedy government, you see. They even have taxes on the taxes. :|

  • I see. But you have the highest standards of living in Europe))

I reside in the UK - this is where the taxes are the most stupid :)

  • We may have high standards of living here, but it's probably the most expensive country in the world to live in, our roads have kinda low standard, actually.

  • Guess it is expensive there.. according to Big Mac index, it is the most expensive in your country ))

  • The problem is that you cannot buy this car in Europe or the USA.

Generally: If I would have a driver I would prefer the Century.

  • Well i could buy this car cause im living in japan lol

  • WOW world class leader...Toyota keeps getting better and better....qeustion...this or the Lexus LSh 600??

  • The Century and the LS are geared towards totally different buyers. In Asia, understatement and discretion are highly valued traits, versus the snobby, exclusivity craze in the western world. Therefore, the Century appeals to more traditional, aristocratic Asians (which is why it's only sold there) while the LS is the flagship everywhere else. A true Century buyer would find the LS flashy, to the point of being vulgar!
