If tapping that box or walking across the floor caused that with the old box (the reason they replaced it with this one) then you may have an electrical connection problem. Looks like maybe the connection isn't pressed in completely in the back of it. Or the power wire is pulled too tight getting it in the entertainment center. Not a signal prob

That's I go with Time Warner Digital cable! There's no f**king dish to worry about, and I haven't had any problem with the box that we have. Also, for our non-HDTVs, we have Time Warner standard cable, and it works perfectly! I just recommend that you stay away from DirecTV and Dish Network if you can. the problem is obviously not with the cable between the reciever and the tv, because the reciever reset itself when she touched it. so the problem is obviously in the pwr connection somewhere. i work in directv's technical dept, and been doing it a long time, trust me...its a power problem. for your standard def, (d11) ird there.
OK, you need some knowledge on SAT receivers so here is some. IF the SAT malfunctions in pixelizes but does NOT show any SNOW. If you see snow it is because the cable between the receiver and your TV is garbage, REPLACE IT. Did you know that the RF input on back for you TV can break? Yes it becomes loose on the inside so when you nudge the cable BAM snow. Use Analog RCA or S-video, probibly find that the issue does not occure. Coax is bottom of the line, dont use that if you can help it.

The Installer, the installer's Manager and the new neighbor refuse to take ownership of the issue! - Well, life is colorful sometimes to say the least.
Your cable from the box to the TV is loose or bad, the power cable on the box is loose or bad, your TV sucks and the connector on the back is loose or bad, You turned off your box when you "tapped" it, the box could be bad. If the box is bad, call DTV and have them replace it. Simple as that.
Get another box or check your installation. If its your box then call customer service and tell them. What will happen is they will send you another box if its defective. If you think they are bad then try Comcast, ha ha - you will REALLY love that company.

You pressed the reset button you can hear the door open then you hear the click of the reset button.
Also the screen that pops up at the end is the reboot screen that only appears when you reset the receiver
