Is he giving facts? Real solutions? Or is he doing the same thing as everyone else the media spoon-feeds you?
Is he saying the same things Bill Clinton said to counter-act the "unfavorable republican" with the "down-with-the-people democrat"?
Is he using words to cause emotional reactions in order to confuse you from asking REAL QUESTIONS? Think of what kind of topics could be addressed and are not.
Now that's a guy who not only would I enjoy having a beer with but I wouldn't spend all my time praying that the world wasn't coming to an end if he were President, the way I have been with Bush in the White House.
With Barack as President, young and full of energy and full of new ideas on how to solve the challenges of the 21st century, maybe I could afford to -have- a beer and sit back and watch the good news stories roll in for a change after a VERY long dry spell.
Barack had beeter start debating like an advocate for a better america then like someone who is afraid to. At this point I would have no confidence in him if he were representing me in a court of law. WAKE UP BARACK AND MAN UP!!!!!
in the two days after the debate, i have seen more fire and hunger from obama than i've seen the whole campaign. he needs to LOOK and SOUND like he can knock McCain out and needs to completely embarass McCain in the next debate when he lies to the 100 million americans who are watching. If Obama takes his gloves off from here on in and shows real guts then he will win.
both democrats/republicans are basically the same these days. If you want to change the world change the economic system b/c that is what the capitalist world runs on. We need sound money. If not you will be a slave to debt &a dollar backed by nothing. you approve the 700 bill. bailout you approve creating more $out of thin air which the tax payers will pay for. Higher taxes, but a dollar that is less than it was in '98. Does not take a genius to figure out the scam.
How about the issues that NEITHER cadidate is talking about? Like the cause of inflation?
How the Federal Reserve is causing inflation by printing more money? How the troops won't be coming home, but moved to Afghanistan? How America is BROKE but continues to spend and borrow? How 96 percent of America is AGAINST the bailout but is going ahead anyway?
PLEASE be victorious in November. I have every bit on my hopes and family's future dreams behind you. You are great ! will be great ! I feel you will be a great president.
If Obama wins it's going to be a beautiful day in this country. I can honestly say that there is nobody else more qualified for the job. I could drop about 1000000 names that could run this country better than Bush. I can't think of one person better than Obama. Especially given the past 8 years and the economy situation. This man is the only hope If he wins I'll be proud to be an American again, and it's been a long time. OBAMA 08. oh and he won the debate hands down.. "John ... You were wrong"
I do believe Obama can fix all these issues we are having in this country especially the econmony. I can not trust Mccain because he doesn't understand what is happening here, he doesn't care of what we really need and plus he is not extremely bold unlike Obama. Obama 08!
obama is what we need to change this world all the people who are against obama are just not ready to accept the fact the we as African Americans are finally rising all the way to the top obama you are # 1
I watched the debate and i felt bad for Obama cause he kept having to defend himself against McCain lies, never once did Obama have to lie about something to get his point across. I believe the same as "mayecol" said if McCain wins its the end of the world.
Senator Obama - I was going to vote for you before the debate. After watching the debate... I like you. You look, sound, and come across as a leader.
There are a lot of people who need a good person like you in office. Bush has run the country into the ground, and still keeps grinding it into the dirt in his last few months. McCain is another buzzword spouting Bush, and Palin... what a mess.
We need someone sure in office. The VP debate is going to be hilarious. Biden's easy win.
It is so true that McCain merely doesn't get it. He is only concerned with the cronies and fat cats his supports. and what's up with this not even looking Obama at all?? That clearly gives an insight into his personality and temper. Obama has this in the bag :)
Obama did a great job. For some reason it seemed like the only thing McCain did was smirk the entire time and avoid anwsering the questions. OBAMA '08!!!
completely true! mccain talked about obama but didnt talk about US! mccain are we not important? we are people too ! step away mccain! obama is coming to the white house
Why has no one commented on McCain suggestion to cut defense spending? Was I the only one who heard that comment. He never wanted to go into the military, and he didn't do a good job there. He bases his whole campaign on his love of military, when our young men and women are dropping everyday. I am veteran, and he doesn't sound like he is in our corner at all. In addition there are other countries we can live in comfort, because America won't be one of them with McCain/Palin
Without a doubt, this is the first politician, with a real chance at the presidency, that I've ever felt a connection with. There's no one else I'd rather see calling the shots than someone who focuses so hard on the middle class and blatantly calls out the corporate tax cuts as far less important than tax cuts for the working class. He has my vote; and I wouldn't have it any other way.
How could McCain, in order to win, denounce George Bush, his party leader and fellow republican and still say he is loyal or patriotic? He has no substance to offer...OBAMA- the only thing I find wrong with you is your strange name...lol
McCain wants to start a war with Syria, Iran maybe even Russia!
If McCain wins the world is in a deep hole. Instead of starting wars we should be improving relations with Russia and STOP the expansion of NATO to eastern Europe, we don't need another cold war.
lol the world will end if mccain is prez. thats true. obama is america's last hope. if mccain gets president i think the damage will be irreparable for decades.
Barry, you must get tougher and knock the old man out of this debate. McCain was instructed not to look at you during the last debate because his handlers feared that he would lose his temper. Make him look at you! Hit him with a good verbal shot that he would need to reject and/or acknowledge.
Barry, you need to show your tougher side. These times are tough and the American people need to know that you can rise to THAT occassion. Go get him. No prisoners.
We should really think about what was bad about the last eight years. We should move beyond the speeches, and learn for ourselves. What really caused the problem? Questions are the only way to truth.
The debate as a whole was quite mediocre, but I have no doubt that Barack won this debate hands down. McCain came across as very amateurish and very apahetic towards America's middle class. Obama is absolutely right when he says that McCain doesn't "get it".
Great work on the debate, Senator. You were calm and determined. This country needs you. Every one of us is behind you and we're going to keep working up until Nov. 4 to make sure you're our next leader.
The main reason I am voting for Obama/Biden is that they will do the JOB, they are being elected to do!
Neither of these men believes the Presidency of the United States of America is a fucking Kingship; unlike King George and his corrupt Republican henchmen!
Obama/Biden will work for the people, not rule like tyrants!
i dont live in america, but one thing i heard obama say is that no one has respect for american and thats true, your country has become nothing and i think if obama isnt elected america is doomed to become worse than it is now, if thats even possible.
Listening to people's reactions to the bailout, team Obama should see that Obama has a job to do to explain this thing to most Americans who are largely opposed to it, with all sorts of fringe theories mixing with basic objections to governemnt helping corporations. Someone needs to explain exactly what this thing is, and why it is so important. This anti-intellectualist, polarized and partisan society that has emerged under Bush needs a calm leader who talks to people not at them.
I wish Sen. Obama would vote NO to the bailout. What I think the solution should be is let Wall Street ride it out and have the Federal government give out loans to those people like farmers, small businesses, AAA corporations and home owners. Why not have the 700 billion available for those people who have the means to pay it back and not to bail out these securities firms only to bail out George Bush's, Palson's, and Bernanke's shares. Oh I forgot they have blind trusts, lol. Yeah right!
If Obama can work this energy into the remaining debates, McCain won't stand a chance. I thought Obama held his own (and according to polls, won) in an area where McCain is supposedly strongest, but he was on the defensive too much. He needs to show the American people this level of confidence and strength in the remaining debates to show the independents that he's the right choice for America.
JUst stoked to be on the side of good this election. Imagine being a McCain supporter? Imagine being a Republican unwilling to budge? Poor things. Feel sorry for them.
They were so willing to launch into axis of evil rhetoric. So eager to label the world in black n white terms. Well here is a clear divide. Obama= good McCain= evil
Fantastic speech.... I'm thrilled by the attitude and the dedication shown by Barack Obama. May he succed in becoming the next president of the united states.
Again,an outstanding speech. And again, nothing but the truth. After watching the debate, you must realize that McCain is not the man to change the planet. In the first 2 minutes of the debate,Barack made clear his steps to solve your economy crisis that affects everyone around the globe.McCain just went on with rethorical rubbish.
McCain constantly attacked Obama with lies but not once talked about the issues. He played the sympathy card and kept Obama in the defensive, what a schmuck. Obama is gonna have to start playing offence too and use McCains tactics against him.
hell yea i love what he said on 2:02 "through the 90 minutes of debate, john mccain had to say alot about obama, but he had nothing to say about you. (america)" cuz we all know john is sheit and barack obama will walk the talk once hes president
If he's elected and carries through successfully with the aims of his campaign, Barack will be remembered as the greatest president since FDR. I just hope that his managerial and administrative skills are as profound as his oratorical skills.
This is kind of president we need. Obama cares about us unlike Mcshame who wants to be president because he feels it is "his turn". Vote for change, Vote OBAMA!
Where was this last night ? (in a good way)I know it's risky to attack your opponent when he is a war vet, but Barack has to do that in a classy and respectful way. :-) insult someone in a respectful way.... tough task i understand but as far as politicians go.... if there is anyone who has the linguistic skills to attack someone respectfully it's Barack.
Change is coming.. in the right way! Obama/Biden 08
Tax cut for 95% of Americans, or more corporate tax cuts and loopholes. You decide. Don't forget you owe 700 billion, you are going to need that money.
I am so proud of the dignity & integrity Sen. Obama has demonstrated throughout his entire campaign & the debates.
He's never marginalized or belittled his opponent in order to rally supporters. He is a classy & dignified man - and I would be HONORED to have him as our commander-in-chief!!
What should be featured is Biden talking about what McCain neglects in the security in America. Why he voted against communication and more money for the people that save lives everyday, our great Firemen and Policemen who respond to such events.
What united there today may be the best thing for him. There were very view McCain protesters and his speech strikes a deep point of support in North Carolina, a key state for winning this election.
Senator Barack Obama should be elected already. :) If people still think Mccain is what is good for this country after last night, they are seriously out of their minds. We need a strong, level-headed president that will lead this country back to greatness. We don't need someone that will attack their opponent only to look better and yet lack substance. Go Obama/Biden!!!
The way the Republicans have destroyed this economy, made the US despised around the world, and gotten us in to a needless war, any vote for John McCain is unpatriotic. How can you love this county and yet want to allow those who have destroyed it to continue to run it. It doesn't make sense. Any vote for John McCain is vote against the USA and our values and what we stand for and the hope and promise of what we can be.
I to would like to know your status on veterans. I'm a disabled vet. I dedicated over ten years of my life to the U.S. military. I was injured and sent home to my family Oct. 2004. It took me over 3 years to get one VA medical appointment. I fought more with the VA system than I did in the military. Why? This country needs change in so many areas where do u start. But you have to somewhere. And Obama is the only candidate talking change, and making common sense. You've got my vote. Obama 08
Sen. Obama, Your performance during the 1st debate confirmed my feelings all along....you are the change we need. You can tell a lot about a person's character by their eyes. You have honest eye contact with those you address.....and Sen. McCain could not even glance your way during the debate! He is not a truth man and should not be trusted.
PLEASE AMERICA! Be smart! Vote for Obama! This is a election, not just for usa, but also for the whole world! Obama represents justice and solutions. This man is the future!
I hope McCain don't get it, because I'm 24 years old had a job at age 14. I'm financially stable and help my mother, father, & brother pay bills. I'm over worked and tired of the BS.
I watched the debate and not once McCain looked Obama in the eyes. He must be intimidated by Obama. You're the man, Obama!! Good luck on the next two debates!
Surprisingly, I hadn't noticed McCain's not mentioning the middle class at the debate until it was pointed out. It just goes to show the importance of listening not just to what a candidate says, but also to what a candidate doesn't say.
Perhaps McCain can't say much about the needs of the middle class because a man who owns 7 houses genuinely has no concept of what it means to be in need.
Barack understands what average Americans are going through, and he's earned my vote hands down.
Obama should have turned things around when McCain made his vile joke saying"what are you gonna tell Ahmadinamentmenaimejad? No you won't?!".A clear-headed person such as Obama is could easily put McCain in his place by painting a more realistic scenario and reprimanding this joke just like the "bomb bomb Iran" performance.
We will elect you President and it is my sincere hope, that you continue to use the people, via the internet, to help straighten this government up. We know it's going to take a while, but if Old Establishment gives you a hard time, email us, and we'll do our part by calling our representatives. Together, we will help you become the best President the USA has ever known---The People's President.
Obama clearly understands the needs of the people. McCain came off rude and arrogant...he wouldn't even look at Obama, what type of political move was that?
Republicans think debate is something you put on a fish hook.

McCains primary concern is to make oil companies richer.
He wants:
- More Drilling = more oil profit.
- War in Iraq & Iran = more oil profit.
- No specific green targets (only feel good waffle!) = more oil profit.
- Gas Tax Holiday = higher prices & more oil profit (it's been tried).
- No windfall tax on Big Oil to invest in raising car MPGs = more oil profit.
- Alaskan VP is married to the oil industry = more oil profit.
McCain has been bought & paid for.
He works for them.

If he's elected and carries through successfully with the aims of his campaign, Barack will be remembered as the greatest president since FDR. I just hope that his managerial and administrative skills are as profound as his oratorical skills.

It couldn't even be rightly called a debate! Obama won it hands down, and I don't think the republicans can seriously argue with that.

Senator Obama, you were respectful and a gentleman and as we all witnessed, senator McCain was dismissive and only showed contempt.
I understand why you were so set to praise McCain as a bipartisan, but now it's time to take the kids gloves off.
Please don't make the same mistake as senator Kerry did in 04'.
Next time remember: John McCain is NOT right.
He is ONLY wrong.

I am so proud of the dignity & integrity Sen. Obama has demonstrated throughout his entire campaign & the debates.
He's never marginalized or belittled his opponent in order to rally supporters. He is a classy & dignified man - and I would be HONORED to have him as our commander-in-chief!!

I'm glad I was there, it was incredible.
J4sonRim 3 years ago
GObama -- he talked about solutions for the way forward out of the ditch Bush and McCain have put us in.
McCain -- tried to insult Obama, and defend "more of the same" policies. He KNEW he was lying, that's why he couldn't even LOOK at Obama.

IMPAT2 3 years ago
Surprisingly, I hadn't noticed McCain's not mentioning the middle class at the debate until it was pointed out. It just goes to show the importance of listening not just to what a candidate says, but also to what a candidate doesn't say.
Perhaps McCain can't say much about the needs of the middle class because a man who owns 7 houses genuinely has no concept of what it means to be in need.
Barack understands what average Americans are going through, and he's earned my vote hands down.
gheemaster 3 years ago
Obama should have turned things around when McCain made his vile joke saying"what are you gonna tell Ahmadinamentmenaimejad? No you won't?!".A clear-headed person such as Obama is could easily put McCain in his place by painting a more realistic scenario and reprimanding this joke just like the "bomb bomb Iran" performance.

While Obama was telling us what he plans to do when he's president, all McCain did was tell us how Obama isn't ready to be president.
We need someone who has a plan for the economy, Iraq, etc. And I think we know that the person for the job is Barack Obama.
