I hold a certificate in nutrition, and yes it is possible that he was malnourished. I can only imagine the EXTREME amount of junk food and empty calories he must have been taking in! To weigh that much and not even get nearly the amount of nutrients needed for sustanance of the body; and little or no exercise, I'm sure. Actually, yes. My husband had gastric bypass surgery 2 years ago. You are definately not supposed to eat fried food, food high in saturated fats, and any sugar. Nor can he drink anything carbonated. You get this way by eating too much...period.

This is actually an extreme case. He does not produce the hormone leptin that signals when someone is full. Therefore, he is always hungry and cannot control it. This is a rare case and it is not this person's fault.
Interesting, I didn't know that! I worked at a school for the mentally challenged, we had a girl with that condition. She gained 60 lbs in a year. Her whole life revolved around food. She always felt starved and famished no matter how much she ate!

What a tragedy. I didn't know people could put on so much fat! In the animal kingdom, only termite queens can do that. But then again, once you become immobile your body weight starts to spiral out of control even more. I truly hope this man is doing somewhat better by now.

Do any of you people stop to think WHY this man was eating himself to death? I find it sad that people automatically think "fat fuck just stop eating" Thats like saying "damn druggie just stop using" its not that easy. One feels bad about themselves, finds food as a comfort, and gain weight, feel worse about themselves, and eat more, its a habitual cycle. So instead of making fun or saying hes just a fat guy who cant control his eating, take time to try and understand, even dare I say it, help

Why do people keep crying about "mean comments" and feel sorry for this guy.
