  • also you are good dancer :)

  • Sick

  • Like your technique. Very correct. Cheers

  • @abbeItheIman From what I have seen. Im a karate fighter and have been training just a little boxing, (maybe a half year) in my life so im not a expert in this technoque though ;)

  • farol

  • Turning your left leg in on your cross is just dumb.

  • gay boxing.

  • @thaistomp you must be like 5 years of age..its ah training vid man u could of easily not replied if u aint got helpful tips

  • lol faggots "derp your jab doesn't have elbow tucked in", more like "dude you are doing everything wrong since you are not a famous athlete"

  • All the people just making comments about the exagerated pivot. Well, I tell you something. It's better if he exagerates techniques then people could learn. Is like when your languages teacher says a single word high and slow, exageratting it. So in that point, nothing to hate here.

  • @poiquilotermo True. You exaggerate techniques when you are practicing. It never looks that exaggerated in competition or sparring but that's how you create muscle memory.

  • Dude, you are exagerrating the pivot. Yes it's important, but did you JUST start training? And your jab should be more straight, tuck your elbows for the straight strikes.

  • @albertpope You really need to twist your leg that much???

  • @Flash4712 No, in a fight it never is that exaggerated.

  • @Flash4712 Most of your power comes from your legs, he's just showing the correct technique.

  • @Henrydaddy69 I think most of the power comes from torso..

  • @Flash4712 well it comes from the chain of muscles and joints. of course u cant punch using just your leg and u kinda can using just a hand/torso. i think this foot rotation is useless really, but it helps develop the correct all body technique of punching to those to whom it doesnt come naturally. so basically i agree with u. i hate it when some of my couches insist on twisting those feet, even though i can throw some of the most powerful power shots in the gym just naturally.

  • @Flash4712 legs are strongest part of your body so by logic it is the root of all physical power

  • Doesn't twisting your knee in that much throw your balance off a bit? And you're elbow seems to be a little low when throwing your hooks. I'm not sure whether that's due to your sense of multiple combat style or whether it's your actual technique?

  • really weard movements but if that what works for you, perfect. Have you sparred or something?

  • was that like an over pivot on the left?

  • Straight kick to the face always works in a street fight for me.

  • @BKsMassive rightttt fattie...everyone believes you.

  • @Novinte hahahaahaha love it

  • Nice Jab and right. But if training for muay thai, kickboxing or MMA you can't throw a left like that! Imagine if you turn that leg inwards while someone's throwing a leg kick, could do some serious damage to you knee ligaments.

  • This guys crazy slow he'd never land those on anyone skilled.

  • i like your style man! its really great. thnx for all ur videos ! they really help me whit my training and technique

    greetz from holland

  • the left looks weak.

  • wowww great techniques

  • nice! thanks

  • muay thai #1

  • your footwork is too easy to read but nice jabs

  • @kyleB061

His foot work is supposed to be easy to read ~ He is giving a demonstration and he did it very well..

    Paulie D' The Punch Professor

  • I know most of the people here like this video, but it doesnt take a lot to amaze the beginners with this crap. Horrible form? you probable red a couple of books, and think you've got it. Your form looks extremely akward, those hooks with you trying to turn your hip and ankle 180 degrees is something)), and then half a second later comes the upper body)), you are sitting to much on your back leg, straighten them up a little bit, you got no balence and no punch...I probably shouldnt've wrote....

  • Always a winner. Double jab, cross. lovely stuff. But don't get you feet tied underneath you buddy, you will get found out.

  • great form brother

  • A fun fact is, when you try that against a kickboxer, You probably won't walk anymore...

  • you will breack your knee

  • brilliant thankyou

  • DOUBLE JAB!!!!

  • Man you wanna consider punching a little higher. Not everyone is that short

  • @83uoykcuf

Remember to keep your left elbow in tight before and after each punch. Your forearm is the best line of defense if he shoots. A good wrestler will not shoot on you until he has cleared your arms. If your elbows are out, you're going to get tossed real bad in front of all your friends.

  • @albertpope Just had a sparring session with the guy that backs off alot and I did exactly what you said, I double jabbed, then double jabbed with the left right left against the cage and it worked perfectly as he had nowhere to go. My takedowns, takedown defense and ground work are my strong points but my striking needs a bit of work. I'm pretty good with keeping my left elbow in tight after each punch, but I do get a bit lazy with the double jabs... Something I need to work on. Thanks mate.

  • Careful with that left leg it looks like its about to break lol...ur only supposed to twist ur hips and a bit of your leg to to the power and snap of the punch, like a whip. Youre over-doing it.

  • You stingy guy , we want more vids like that !

  • good vids

  • Definitely not technically sound striking but not bad for beginners to get a few combos. Left hook needs work. It lags way too much and fires off way to slow and weak. Your pivot should drive your shoulder your target and you should keep your left arm basically locked.

  • :14

  • ok i know what im seeing....does this make sense....you were in an orthodox stance then before u pivoted u switched up to southpaw, but when you pivoted you spun in a way that made you orthodox again.....i would of used the same foot to pivot but i woulda turned the other way making my pivot foot my lead foot.......why u ask??....i guess cause i AM southpaw......u do martial arts thats whats up.

  • @wiggpusha I exit this combo by stepping left.

    Why?

Because the left hand is the LAST punch I throw. I try to always side step to the same side that I threw last.

The funny stuff is me just changing angles for the camera real quick, and is not what I or anyone should do.

  • @albertpope I practiced this for hours. I like it very much.

  • @albertpope Just a question, isn't your left arm a bit jelly when you do the swing, not to be critizing.

    Great video btw

  • hey...u look good tho!!!

  • when u pivoted at :15 it kinda threw me off because u switched feet first, then the foot u pivoted on became ur backfoot and i saw u had to maybe shift ur weight forward before u threw the next punch...would that work in boxing?? it just dont sit right with me with all due respect.

  • Funny....Sorry,but your technique looks retarted, and its not correct....but very funny...

  • It looks like you twist your lead leg a lot when doing the hook

  • I like your style and technique. Great form and I would like to know where would I start as a beginning boxer?

  • very clean combination

  • hey albert, you got any of your fights posted up? let me know, thanks.

  • FYI this combo is butter....you can remix this a bit in muay thai by using the last hook as a push (instead of a strike) to lead your opponent into a right kick or knee

  • very good technique

  • this aint boxing

  • what about left, right, uppercut?

  • so you must be one hell of a fighter..

  • Can you make video with stance changes. Where you make combo, and than change stance and make combo as well. thnx

  • dude you're a beast!

  • is that phil dumfy? from modern family?

  • this guy is a fake,

  • @albertpope, who is your favorite current/active boxer... please don't say manny pacquiao hahaha

  • Footwork! *sub*

  • in another video, I saw you say you had 30 fights. were they boxing fights?

  • @makem15

I fought san-shou, kickboxing and muay thai too.

  • @albertpope greetings from Southern California. I'm currently practicing Muay Thai. The boxing components we learn during training are strikingly parallel to what you're instructing. Crisp, clean, technique. Excellent video.

  • @albertpope If you R twisting your body like that then a muay thai or san shao (MMA) guy would easily take you down with kicks or grappling.

  • @albertpope how effective is this combo?

  • @albertpope - Wish there was a place to train Sanshou around here. That stuff has inspired me.

Also, I like your vids :)

  • @albertpope doesnt ur elbow have to keep a lock to a 90 degree angle when u throw a hook? im pretty sure the way u throw it itll hurt ur arm more than it hurts the opponent

  • 10 people are bystanders.... because are to pussy to fight!!

  • you need to buy new shorts man..

  • You've got a good technique, bro! Nice foot work!

  • Thanks for the feedback, I'll think about tucking the chin better in the coming weeks.

This is an amateur boxing combo, meant to maintain range, and score points in order to frustrate an opponent and make him come in square.

I tend to look through my eyebrows forward, and keep my head down when I am fighting, but I often look down when shadowing and it's totally lazy. It makes me more vulnerable to upper cuts and knees; a common weakness for wrestlers who like to bulldoze people; yours truly.

  • @albertpope awesome that you are open to suggestions! I'd say very well done! You are correct that the eyes up would fine tune your technique. If I may suggest?- when done the combo make sure to exit beginning with the back foot. Skipping the left foot back after the combo is a habit that kick-boxing gets you into. But, in boxing that may force you into leaning your head into a shot, if your opponent uses this opportunity to attack.

  • @toptenboxing I agree 100%. (I'm a leg kicker after all.) Most commentary about my MMA persuasion from boxing aficionados is usually less eloquent, so I appreciate your civility and CONSTRUCTIVE criticism. Sounds like you have taught people before and know what you are talking about.

  • iv never seen anyone hold the elbows in so tight that is interesting, your not getting pull hip movement and puting your ass into those punches, and just curious why your staring at the ground instead of straight ahead, and when you throw the left you should be tucking your chin

  • iv never seen anyone hold the elbows in so tight that is interesting, your not getting pull hip movement and puting your ass into those punches

  • dont take your eyes off your opponent, and keep an eye on the shoulders, u seem a great fighter

  • lololololol

  • this is horrible , im 15 140 pounds 5'11 and im a ameture boxer and ill knock yer ass out

  • you're overspinning waaayy too much on the hooks

  • dude what kind of shorts are those i want some at that length. i hate the long ones

  • Could someone rate this combination? trying to perfect it :

Starting with a left cross counter punch to the jaw, get down, right hook to the body, rotation to left smash (though its still half assed as it is now), stand up using my left leg as a pivot for a right hook, change to southpaw style (can use both) and repeat the same compination without the counter but everything's reverse.... Can't change hand more than twice though cause I lose balance if I do more.

  • very good.

  • i can see a flaw, your bending your leg too much, if someone would get you with a clean shot, you would lose balance,.

  • @Tea0Status he is exaggerating the pivot your right if he missed he would over swing good eye

  • morphinos is dumb... Fuck all that bullshit MMA get on top and buttfuck-a-nigga bullshit if some dude tries to grapple me I swear to you I will bite off his: fingers, nose, ears, throat. An average human can bite down with up to 600lbs of pressure... You know why they outlaw biting in all fight sports??? cuz you're teeth are weapons!!!

  • @blackstangdriver just don't bite me fool. lol.

  • @blackstangdriver Not if your teeth are laying on the ground

  • hes twisting his legs wrong... if you twist ur fuckin leg like that during a fight you'll be sure to fucking snap that shit. fucking idiot

  • Nice moves man!!!

  • whatever mang, i like it

  • yeah if anyone is going to give this guy shit, make sure you post up some videos of yourself doing better otherwise dont bother

  • correct!

  • Good footwork. I like the way you shift your feet when you move.

  • what is that,,,,,,,,,,,,,you're a boxer donkey,,,jejejeje,is the worst ever,try different sport you're nasty,,,,bye

  • to much jerk

  • i dont get you people he obv can box but you keyboard worriers giving him advice, LOL!

  • hey man thank you, you really know what you are saying....it's good what you are teaching here ....

  • Your hook technique is identical to mine.

  • When facing a orthodox fighter with this combo, after doubling up your jab and dipping to the inside with that roll of yours, I would be expecting a decent amateur to catch you with his backhand with a straight right. Hence why I mostly duck straight down or duck and weave to the outside of my opponent's lead hand.

So would a double jab, duck and weave to the outside of the opponents jab, followed by a right hook and a right over the top not flow a bit better?

    Just my 20 cents.

  • @Langarm It would, logically, but that is why this one seems to work. The opponent throws the right hand, but you crash into his right hand with your left fist on your forehead, and your chin down. Smash into his right hand with your glove protected forehead, and then come right over the top of his right shoulder with a counter left hook to his jaw. jab-jab, counter-left, right-left. Works better for amateurs who have head gear to soften the blows. The headgear protects against cuts, so use it!

  • @albertpope Oh I see, will try that in sparring next time, although it is a gutsy move :)

  • I feel that the hitting power is generated at the ground, and that the punch follows the pivot and the hips not the other way around, which is what i believe albertpope is trying to demonstrate. Great video's short and direct mate

  • Great video, I noticed it ends with a hook.

Is that ok to do fundamentaly? I was once told all combinations should end with a straight punch, does that matter?

  • @0713mas all punches are created equal. I do find that ending with a lead hands you score last on the separation. You must score on the way in and on the way out. That's what judges remember most.

  • @albertpope how about in real world, with no judges, just you and the adversary?

  • @Morphinos Grab his clothes (collar, belt, sleeve or pant leg) snap him down and knee his head, or mount his back and choke him. Don't box without gloves, you'll break your hand. Use the same strategy you would if you were fighting MMA with a Gi. Use the collar to choke, or use it to snap and hit duck-unders.

  • @Morphinos I would rather avoid a street fight.. but if i really have to fight.. i would fight in an evasive way.. moving around my opponent and counter-punching :)

  • you're pivoting too soon, it's like a signal that you're gonna give a hook.

  • ur pretty good :]] btw nice combo (just a lil heads up, dont pivit too much)

btw ur video's are gr8 :]] thumbs up

  • Man your boxing is not that good buddy hahahah

  • @AA2214

    post up.

  • @AA2214

Just the jabs were sloppy. Full extension on the jabs and faster, bring em back tighter and the form would be pretty damn good.

  • @bbqufc word, so brutal on my elbows to extend hard after all these years! I'll toughen up for the next set of vids this winter.

  • @albertpope

I know man. When you over extend the elbows because of momentum it's straining on the arms, but that's why you do full extension- to avoid doing that. Instead of snapping the arm out to far, you snap the punch at the end and torque the shoulders and body into it at the end or moment the punch should land and timing, practice and form eliminates hyper extending the arm when you throw the jab. Can you post counter vids? Also, to any newbies- this combo works great on taller opponents

  • @albertpope

And Albert, I plan on posting vids of myself as well. I just need to buy a camcorder. Hopefully by new year. I have some good tricks to show as well.

  • @albertpope Yo Al nIce vid, those in the know, know that some people dont throw a full punch when shadowboxing as you know throwing a punch and hitting nuthin takes alot from you so good vid. I subbed you a while ago I used to fight but still use it(training) to get into shape about once a year. You def know your ish dont cater to these sideline critics unless they make a vid doin it better, then you come back and match his work other than that f**k em...

  • u could rotate the lead leg but only as a finisher when u landin a powerful left hook n ur movin 2 ur right or left. Or u can also come back with a powerful right but like i said turnin the leg alot is only for power punches it leaves u off balance and shouldnt be done unless the opponent is hurt

  • @beenz08 Perfect comment. You are absolutely right, especially the bigger you are. As a lightweight, I get away with throwing my whole body into punches, because it's easier to stay balanced and get back to my base quickly. Regardless, your comment is the most "on point" I have seen on any of my videos.

  • @beenz08 It shouldn't be done at all the way he does it.

  • @beenz08 i was taught to turn the leg on those front hooks, i mean if your going to hit might as well hit him good right? I never feel like i was off balance i just snap back into my fighting stance

  • i'll steal it 6)

  • please upload your fight. I'd like to see that combo in action. thanks

  • @punchingpower the golden gloves tape where I used it is gone.

  • @albertpope nice movement.

  • @albertpope LOL I was on the moon once

  • you shouldnt look on the ground while demonstrating.

  • This looks really good. Don't worry about not rotating ur foot. Rotating ur lead foot is a good thing: it helps rotate ur hips.

What style of boxing is this? Vertical fist for jab and hooks. Just curious.

  • awsome videos, keep up the good work, brilliant to learn from mate..

  • Curious...did you ever box professionally?

  • I wonder: usually your waist? is suppose to lead your hook, atleast the area of rotation, belly, ribs etc. is suppose to be in front of the punch for more power.

Here you rotate your leg too much making IT the lead factor, next the body then the punch. It looks a wrong yes, but it might have some devastating power if landed...or a broken arm lol!

  • trying to hook with his leg aswell

  • dont over rotate your lead leg on that hook

    you'll be off balance

Its supposed to be a very subtle shift

  • funny, I spent most of this week working on rotating that lead leg even more. Sometimes I rotate it, sometimes it's subtle.

Thanks for the tip. Is there a video you would recommend that shows the foot rotation the way you do it?

  • Nice response. You wont find a video telling you to be subtle. All the power comes from there and last time I checked with my trainer, he wanted more torque out of my left hook.

  • @albertpope For self defense and MMA: I once threw a lead hook (rotating my leg), which my sparring partner swept (deashi harai), catching the heel. Almost tore my ankle--I was limping for a month. I dont know about boxing applications, but I hope this helps!

Awesome video btw, I once saw Tyson do this. I've been trying to teach some basic boxing to the jujitsu dojo I train at, and your videos have been a tremendous help. Thanks!

  • @AmbicionEterna Very good point! When I fight with leg kicks I also avoid rotating the lead leg. You could take a leg kick with no defense that will end the fight.

  • his form is very very good

  • hey will you come be my personal trainer please????!!!! Your a bad ass lets see you in action

  • dude ur to fuckin fit and fast slowdown

  • why slow down? he wasn't even gong that fast to start with...
