@tripmedia Cool. Do you want me to drop the original file in the Dropbox folder, or can you grab the HD version from here? If I ever get time, I hope to do a similar breakdown for shot 3. I'll let you know if and when that happens. I hope the premiere goes well.
@dasiavou Hi Asia, The footage was supplied by the client, but there are a lot of great resources (paid and free) e.g. iStock currently give away a free movie file a month, Artbeats used to (but currently don't) and a company called Pond5 give away nice video files every so often.
The other shots for this film were taken from the top of a very tall building.
A well done effort. A futuristic Dublin with some rather impressive background and shading changes to add on for further flavor is indeed well-displayed in this, and it would make a great asset to the short film on which you are working.
This is brilliant! your work always blows me away! will you be making video tutorials? cos there are many people (myself included) who would love to see how you create a shot like this, from modeling to the final render...
@Anermay Thanks so much. I'd love to do in-depth tutorials, but unfortunately time is against me, so I barely have time to do even a breakdown like this. I'm always happy to point people in the right direction though and the main difficulty with this shot is the 3D matchmove. If you do a search on Youtube for "3d matchmove tutorial" and combine that info with the skills you already have, then you're pretty much there.
@cocobirdcoco Thank you. I saved a lot of modelling time by mainly using assets bought from Daz and Dosch design, but even with that, I had to convert them to Lightwave and re-texture, so it did take a while. It's hard to say how long exactly as it was done over a few months of doing 7 or 8 shots for this and another project (as well as my normal day job), but I guess a 2-3 weeks was devoted to this shot - not including render times.
@DALEK86 Thank you. At some stage in the future, I might upload a breakdown of one of the other shoots in the sequence. It has, amongst other things, a TARDIS hidden somewhere in the frame ;-)
I like this video. I believe you should do another one of these, like one of London.

@Mrgrimm9991 Thank you. I have something similar done in New York - but I'd like to do another one of London. Just have to get a nice aerial shot.
