Tribute ASAT Specials are one of the dirty little secrets of the guitar world. Almost the same instrument as the USA models with a wider 9" radius neck (more comfy IMO), swamp ash body, some w/ flame maple tops, same pickups and hardware. Absolute steal for a player.

G&L's Tribute is NOT like Fender's Squire.

G&L's Tribute guitars are better even than the american fenders.

nope.. a g and l tribute is for someone who doesnt wanna pay stupid money for a crappy fender knock off or a crappy fender for the same price... we all know there are great fenders and there are really really bad fenders... but spend the same ammount on a g and l you can end up having a far better guitar... i had my heart set on a fender tele until i picked up a asat special... enuf said :]

@brimill1980 You're right, Fender is just another corporation getting rich off of Leo Fender's name. I have a G&L ASAT Commemorative Classic s/n # 17 of 350. They were planning on making 1000, Instead of joining the tribute to Leo Fender who had just died, the Fender corporation threatened legal action, forcing them to stop the run at #350 . Why would they be so mean spirited, you ask ?

The axes had Leo's signature, not their logo, painted on the upper bout and stamped on the bridge plate,

Great tone. Tributes have some nice pickups. I swapped mine for a noiseless set and put the originals on a dirt cheap guitar that sounds kickass now.
