i dont believe mr.sebastian did his homework on george. i realize im restating whats already been commented on but saying hes only speaking out for self-promotion is ridiculous. george doesnt really need to promote his work in my opinion his massive talent speaks for itself and pretty much stands alone in an ocean of music that is so totally irreleveant to anything meaningful that its truly sad. george has always spoken out on his beliefs i suppose maybe only true fans noticed it back then
Goerge really kept himself in the fight here so to speak, he would not let that interviewer get to him and wear him out.
As for George's assessment of the music industry amongst the war debate, it was incredibly spot on and real. Especially the self-destructive behaviour of USA youth culture.
We don't have "artists" that sing from their own experience or hearts and minds. We have is hired performers, actors, pretenders acting as "pop" or music stars.
Isn't it funny how GM continues to be so far ahead of his time. His fight with Sony. This war. The man is a genius and visionary in his own right yet continues to be castigated for living HIS life in a way that so many see as perverted or worthy of reproach. We'll look back and see just how courageous he was and not just "the fag" in the "...Before You Go Go" video. When I meet him (AND I WILL) I will definitely thank him for his contributions to pop culture AND society.
GM exploits the true character of the interviewer and this pathetic round table. The questions projected to GM shows the lack of quality and tim ultimately does not care about the points of view GM has from politics, social awareness, and/or music. I give so much credit and respect for GM keepin' his composure and answering intelligently with a lot of wit and humor. GM...you is a bad mutha'fucka! =)
I certainly wish the U.S. had programs as genuine. Clearly Sebastian was not out to "get" Michael, nor did it seem like Sebastian was being tough to illicit sensationalism. I have never watched such an honest interview on the subject of the war...be it a program interviewing a celebrity or politician.
HARDTalk in the UK is what programs like the O'Reilly Factor fail miserably to be in the U.S.
You could just imagine before the interview, the interviewer was going through his notes and questions, and thinking "Im gonna make george michael look silly, and expose him as being unintelligent half wit pop star". Its so funny watching him destroy the interviewer with his responses. I bet he didnt expect that, the bald twat!!!
Looking at the interview 6 years later, also in view that no WMD were found in Iraq, one can only reflect how right and prophetic Mr.Michael was in what he stated in this interview.
i thought george looked a little selfconscious when confronted with issues of drugs and unprotected sex, but he handles it well. Tony & Bush are guilty of bombing innocent peole, whil George is guilty of drugs and illicit sex, so all are in one way guilty of harming the society and values, so who gets to judge whom? Nobody. But let's work together for the best. WHAM
I've been a fan since childhood on a musical level, but now I truly admire George because he prooves he's so in touch with other things that surround him; I could not agree with him more on his comments. And of course, calling Noel Gallaher what he IS was great ant true.
george is never afraid to speak his mind, and you know what, hes proven to be right on his comments! this man has it all! george has so much courage, and so much knowledge of whats goin on in the world! very interesting! hot!
The best thing about this, was that he had the BALLS to stand up and speak his mind when very few people did. In America if you spoke up, you were labeled a traitor at the time.
1,2 and 3 absolutely great. A new and ever more interesting side to George Michael. I'm blown away. Most celebs at his fame and talent would never dare sit there and have an intelligent conversation. U da man George. San Jose 08 was AMAZING!! Thanx 4 posting!
I'm glad I came out from under my rock! Where have I been that I wasn't aware of this interview?! GM shows amazing grace and is totally on point. How does he keep that lovely smile going...?!
Wow, what a smart smart man. He's so on point it's amazing. This was years ago and he had it right and stuck to his convictions. He is admirable for so many qualities.
Thank you so much for posting. I am in total awe of this man. Pure intelligence just oozes from him. What I would give to sit down and just talk with George, it would be utterly... stimulating!!
The more interviews I watch of GM, the more I begin to like him.

George Michael is completely correct about the majority of 'artists' in the charts today.

It's nice to hear this talk now. When american's lie is obvious and they lost the war they've started.
