I've been reading some of the recent Green Lantern stuff and being an fan of Marvel's old stuff I have to say it's really great. It's what superhero comics should be story wise, great characters and a great story. Just read Blackest Night #5 and it's totally great.
i remember my first kyle rayner ( hope thats the right spelling ) comic was in a superman crossover, where he is helping superman fight Mongol on a beach and i just remember the issue being very entertaining. it had a lot of kyle doubting himself and if i remember correctly his ring was different in that it could hurt Mongol....which i thought was interesting.
I haven't read it yet, guys, but I love the fact that you break it down and really analyze the work you're reviewing. Tomasi is killing it in pretty much everything he is involved in.
Kyle was actually the frst lantern I read, in one of DCU books with Bruce Timm and that and I liked the character, mainly cos he drew. But over the years I've seen others such as John Stewert In JLU. But glad he got a hero's death.
This issue caused me to cry a little.... and I've only read like 6 or 7 issues of Tomasi's GLC. That's how quickly he has gotten me interested in the characters in GLC. Great review guys!
You kno w what i liked about this? DC never announced ITS KYLE RAYNERS DEATH THIS WILL CHANGE EVERYTHING!!! No. They simply let the story flow and gave the fans a surprise.
It reminds me of the death of karen page in daredevil, becuase they never announced her death as a big event
Kyle was the Green Lantern when I began reading. I read his series and enjoyed him a lot. I can't seem to get into Hal Jordan though. Just not my cup of tea I guess.
i just got secret invasion #1 and am going to collect it that way in back issues then the trades. random i know lol but anywaise i can kind of see kyle raner staying dead....idk if thats just me but i can see it happening.
I wonder if the different lantern corps stay around after Blackest Night. I think it would be kind of cool to have a Black Lantern Corp, not under the influence of Nekron, stick around as a way of having dead heroes get a second chance.
Great segment guys! and I think I know what the next book you review is..
"Even in death, Stealth, you remain insufferable."
They way you put it is precisely the way I was introduced to Kyle. I never really read any Hal Jordan GL comics and became a fan of Kyle's through the 90's JLA.

Blackest Night has been okay. I liked the Batman and Superman issues. I originally thought this event was stupid but it has grown on me.
I would be pissed that Kyle died but I know DC brought back fucking Hal Jordan after he wiped out a whole city they will bring back Kyle.
Still the rainbow lantern concept is kind of stupid to me I am still trying to stomache it. I swear if another color is introduced I will go apeshit.

Hey guys, isnt Sodam Yat alive? He was in Final Crisis Legion of 3 Worlds, as the last guardian of the universe.

I just wonder when Darkseid, Libra, the Monitors or the New gods will be coming back as Black Lanterns..
Final Crisis wasnt that great, but will DC jump the shark and do it?

Funny u should mention folks coming (really back) fronm the dead, Jose. See do u agree with any of these.
Aquaman: some curative aspect of the sea will awaken something dormant in his DNA and yada,yada,yada...A Curry
M.Manhunter, his physiology being much different than most, not even the zombification will stick(a stretch I know)
Deadman: somehow afte the Night ends will gain control over his decomposed coporial form, sort of like an inverted Dr. Strange.
Just a thought or three.

oh btw Elliot, the Black Lanterns made a black power battery on Earth in Blackest Night#4 so them reaching 100% might tie into that.
Fallows1985 2 years ago
they didnt make a battery, they simpley teleported it to sector 2814

DC does a way better job of writing female carachters than Marvel does.

As long as he went out like a hero, I'm glad.

There is a number of cool quotes from that issue. My favorite is "Time to go." but you have to see the look on Vril face to appreciate it.

Is there an official Top 10 list or is it different per comic store?
I'm curious if the books I read are on the list...

There is an official list for the industry. If you check out our blog I put up a post last week which listed the Top 25 books for October.
