You need to get every star coins through World 1 to 8 then save it go to your wallpaper house (Blue house in world 1) then you will see The Wallpaper of the old mario then go out of the house then it will say all star coins spent then you have 100%'ed The Game!

hi! in the minute 2:11 you asked about the fifth square that is missing, i don`t know if you`ve already get it `cause this video is almost 2 and a half years old, but today i`ve just found how to get it, I played and finished the same file twice untill the very end, wait untill finish all the credits and you`ll be asked if you want to saved it and you press yes, after that the purple mushroom will appear in the first level and you`ll have your fifth square open, you`ll have to pay 20 coins

All you need to do to get that is:

1:beat the game and watch the credits

2:get All star coins

3:spend all of them and you should be left with 20 star coins go to the mushroom house thing hit all the backgrounds then it should say would you like to spend 20 star coins for this background say yes and youve got it

4:to get the three stars on your profile go through all levels and secret levels including cannons anything left red or not unlocked yet wont work

@crunchchem7399 There's a pause trick by the cannon at world 3. There's a block there, one of those who shifts, and i think that if you pause 2 power-ups before the shell, and then press double-A, you'll get it. I use to pause at the fire-flower. Sorry if this is complicated, I'm swedish and not too good at english. ^_^;
