@mykolabferrari thats what I get to play with the High School Band because they need FOUR trombones and they only have three so my band director asked me to be part of the High School Jazz Band and Basketball Pep Band and I get to play this song

The first pressings of their debut album, and of single #4-45069, credited an Indiana-based country/blues artist named Jimmy Zack with the songwriting (and his Oleta Publishing Co. with the publishing). Though, to be sure, Zack did write and perform a song called "Evil Ways" in 1960, that was not what Santana recorded.
As for this, I prefer the 45 edit and mix, which differs considerably from on the LP.
P.S. Zack's birth name was Henry Yingst - and his son, who performs with his own blues band, is known as Sonny Yingst. There is some irony - given that the "Evil Ways" Santana recorded (as corrected on later pressings) was actually written by one Sonny Henry, a sideman with Willie Bobo's band (and Bobo, even more ironically, played at one time with Santana).
@wmbrown6 Jimmy Zack was actually a country artist and writer, the song is not the same song as Santana recorded. Although they did try to buy the song . The royalties were awarded to Jimmy Zack until Oleta was sold with all his other songs. I think he has sence past, could be that with out him writing the song there song title could have been be different.
@windsor824 - But how do you explain classical composer Aaron Copland (and his publisher, Boosey & Hawkes) originally being awarded royalties on "Jingo," on first pressings of the "Santana" LP and single 4-45010? (I've heard Copland's "Jingo," and his composition - the fifth movement of "Statements (for Orchestra)" - likewise had nothing to do with what Santana recorded - except possibly the tempo.) Back to "Evil Ways" though: I'm curious who made that credit error originally.
yeah but santana made his career in the usa i meant bands from countrys like argentina (btw one of the most rich countrys in music in the word) but never riched international popularity !
I get to play this song with my Basketball Pep Band this year even if I am not in High School Band
But all I get to play is the bass/guitar part

What the hell you talking about?
Santana was very popular when they came out, I should know I grew up listening to them and had their albums.
They were on the top of the charts.
You must be too young to realize that?
