Only a tiny minority of heavy marijuana smokers develop mental illness. This is because of genetic predisposition, and marijuana can help trigger it - depression, psychotic episodes etc. But the percentage is very small, I would say 95% of people can smoke regularly with little negative side effects. Of course you can never know if you are in the 5%, so you are taking a risk, but if one is not enjoying it and feeling paranoid, then it's obviously not for you and you should stop. Common sense

It really pisses me off that people are so into Ron Paul because of his stance on marijuana, which like Obama will shift drastically once in office. It's easy: you just appoint a drug czar who disagrees with you, and then tell your followers unfortunately you don't agree on everything but he/ she's the best choice. Play both sides. Ron Paul also happens to have some really alarming views on abortion, racism, and homosexuality.

people dont die directly from the use of 'weed' but there is plenty of evidence that some people are effected mentally by regular use of it. there is a condition known as ganja madness which is well documented in the west indies that causes folk to have suicidal tendencies bought about by fear and anxiety. i think it is a matter of luck whether you have the kind of brain required to not be affected by it. most are ok .granted. but i see no one starting on heroine and ending up hooked on weed

I have smoked pot 4 over 25 yrs & have suffered no ill effects from it. It has never effected my daily life & the true shame is the way people R ostricized because of it.This is a very good video & I would like 2 point out Carl Sagan. 1 of the most underappreciated geniuses of the 20th century. He smoked pot his entire life & was still recognized as what he was...an intellectual scientist. Pot smoking will not burn you out. Stupid teenagers who want 2 ACT that way are what gives it that bad rep.

Only a tiny minority of heavy marijuana smokers develop mental illness. This is because of genetic predisposition, and marijuana can help trigger it - depression, psychotic episodes etc. But the percentage is very small, I would say 95% of people can smoke regularly with little negative side effects. Of course you can never know if you are in the 5%, so you are taking a risk, but if one is not enjoying it and feeling paranoid, then it's obviously not for you and you should stop. Common sense
