  • Oh ment to say lol . of course Aaron would say its under powerd as he is an a biker .

    and a legend

  • maybe american (BUICK) but it was a scotsman that founded it .

  • Whats with moaning about V8s? Peoples arseholes produce more gas than cars, do we kill the people?Go & plant trees or something not moan here!

  • The chinese ruin or copy everything

  • I cant help but think it was a complete waste of time putting this lazy thirsty v8 engine in the 75.

If they had given it a more powerful diesel like the jag V6 it would have had a point and might have sold.

  • I live in America so I have never seen a Rover 75 but ever since I saw one on Top Gear I have wanted one so bad.

  • @BLyons40 I live near the US/Mexico border in Yuma, Arizona and see what looks like a Rover 75 every so often with Mexican license plates. I have never had a chance to look at it, to see what it actually is, and whether it is the V8 or not. Perhaps, someone can enlighten me if Rovers were ever exported to Mexico in the last few years of independent ownership?

  • The Rover 75 V8 is stunning.

  • they say its a gentlemans car - the rover is yes..but would a middle aged woman look stupid driving a v8 mg zt?

  • No, why should she?

By the way, this is my car and yes, she's fantastic. Quite economical for a heavy V8on a longer drive (25mpg), but thirsty round town. Fantastic handling too.

  • can i put that v8 in a rover 75 v6?

  • Nope, the V8 uses real wheel drive.

  • i know but both have the same chasis?

  • no they dont the v8 version had a completely reworked chassis

  • 260 in a v8 is not so powerfull

  • has anyone actually driven one of these 75 v8's, are they any good?

  • V8 cars are not being made to be economical...

  • Well you'll rarely get away from the pumps with a Rover 75 V8, less than 20 miles to the gallon and it'll cost you an arm and a leg to run because of the cost of petrol-unless you own a filling station or an oil company it's a bad choice, still that's irrelevant now because SAIC are producing the Rowvee 750 for their own home markets and I bet it's a load of cheap chinky crap and a bag of cheap sliteyed chinky shit hahahaha! ROLMFAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @rover75eu

True, but it's all relative. The Mustang engine is utterly dire when it comes to economy, performance and emissions. It is ancient, low tech and looks like a dog's dinner whenever you open the bonnet! Rover should have used the 300PS 4.2 V8 from Jaguar - or a German V8 - and it would have been more powerful, more economical and much more beautiful.

  • no. v8 jaguar xj diesel, 1000 miles with a tank of gas

  • A v8 diesel?

  • yes. it's the last model. came out 1 year ago

  • somebody likes Top Gear :)

  • lol

  • surely not

  • @AnthonyUK .. and? Some fat bastards are uneconomical with food

  • @leonardbullhock You are rude!

  • @AnthonyUK It is and... you silly stupid care taking Soccermom

C'mon people stop buying priuses the world its gonna end in 2012 theres nothing you can do by buying hybrids. So in these SHORT two years lets enjoy the big v8s before we all pass out!!!

  • nice

  • You should go on making this brand in the UK for God sake, crying out loud!!!!

  • Well we could, but it all depends if TATA well Jaguar Land Rover part of TATA want's to bring it back.

  • mate tata dont own mg Rover Nanjing company does

  • Yes NAC own MG Rover as an company, but Ford bought the Rover name to protect it's Land Rover image in the US. Slang for Land Rover is Rover in the US. When Ford sold Jaguar and Land Rover that were both part of PAG they created a new group called JLR that was a subsidiary of TATA in this group the Rover name as a a marque was sold along with Jaguar and Land Rover from Ford. Why do you think there is Roewe?

  • no, actully tata does own rover because ford included it in the deal.

  • Why wouldn't the uk motoring press be as supportive?? A beautiful car, we built the best!

  • True! I love MG and Rover and do not understand why you have not been more proud of your cars in UK? Here in Sweden we are still fanatics about Volvo and Saab even if they have been bought by Ford an GM.

  • Because lack of funding has strangle car engineering in this country. The management killed build quality (Spen King engineered the SD1 so that even an idiot could build it!), yet there was no quality control programme! The unions killed productivity, the government killed profits - remember taxes during the 60-70 was about 70%!!! British engineers have a way of thinking laterally to get the best results but always get shit on - we get NO respect. The Rover 75 was a great product...

  • ... but eventually the last of the management was so bloody awful. BMW shot the car dead in the water before it was released! Poor management, poor unions, poor investment.. results in poor product and it reflects badly on us..

  • Thank you "The Saint"! Are you driving Volvo just like Roger More?

It is very strange that even if there is a free market governments, board leaders and unions do not see the issues! The Swedish taxes are so high that there has only been small companies since the 60s and all have been bought by foreigners. Like BMW and Rover. And we know how that goes.

Is there any owner of the label Rover or MG? Have a Rover 416 si, much nicer than Honda Civic, and would love to have an other in the future.

  • Interesting how Volvo and Rover are essentially direct rivals now... NAC and SAIC owns MG brands. TATA owns the Rover brand. Previously Ford. Possibly to rebadge TATA for Europe(?) or to protect Land Rover brand.

  • but the chinese ruined the Rover 75

  • I hear that during these times of economic issues some like to think that the Chinese would be able to save the car industry and maybe buy Saab from GM. I seriously doubt that China knows anything about cars but wish them good luck with going to the moon.

  • The UK press was extremely supportive of the 75 as it was/is a fantastic car. The 25, 45 and MGF were desperately old and had no chance against rivals in the later stages with bumper/paint updates when rivals were on their second or third iterations and the City Rover served only to the damage the brand. The 75 was a stormer, the rest of the stable not so. As commented on another video, the British are turning out profitable cars under the guidance of foreign management.

  • The only thing that put me off Rover 75's is the not so good legroom in the back, it could and should have been better when Rover were making and selling it;the new chinese Roewe 750 based on the 75(which ISN'T coming to the UK)has answered this by stretching the wheelbase dimensions(and it is all the better for it in comfort terms). I would have widened the body widthways and in height as well to give more shoulder-room and headroom and to make it a capable 5 seater that takes taller adults.

  • Wonderful video! Do you have this road test in higher quality?

  • Nice to see my P5B featured in this clip! No responsibility for the cartoon add-ons tho!!

  • GR8! LOVE THT CAR!

  • love the rover v8 great car
