i have the saunders hawk!! its quite good, but i adjusted the bands to be shorter pretty much straight away for a stronger shot! the bands dont last that long, but ive never had a sling shot band that has lasted much more than about 150-200 shots.

@Greno Leave the bands longer, just let the ends hang out from the fork attachment as reserve. The bands always break near the pouch, you can re-tie them and "squeeze out" many more shots.

@sp00ktube I really only work out two or three times a week, for under an hour each time. I am fairly busy, between my job and my slingshots. When you want fast success, pain is the answer. Work out so hard in every set until the muscle burns like fire, and you need help from a buddy to complete the last 5 reps. Never put the bell away as long as you are still able to do one more. Pain = Gain.

Autant pour moi, vous avez raison bien sur, il y a longtemps que je n’ai pas ouvert mes livres de mécanique…

Une question que je me pose :

Pour un slingshot comme le Fish Hunter ou une balle de 12 grammes sort à 67 m/s, si vous tirez une balle de 0.5 gramme (balle 4.5mm de carabine air comprimé) qui revient à pratiquement faire un tire a vide, quelle serait la vitesse de la balle.

Thomas, une balle de 0.5 grammes peuvent être jusqu'à 150 m / s rapidement, mais la band tire très vite. Ceci est dangereux.

Thera Gold est un bon compromis, noir et bleu sont plus rapides, mais aussi déchirer plus tôt.

Im Ernst, wenn das Gummi reisst (und das tut es immer, früher oder später), dann kann das schon mal einen Peitschenhieb ins Gesicht bedeuten. Ist nicht schlimm, ausser wenn das Auge getroffen wird. Da ist die Brille schon sinnvoll.

Dann hat die Kugel aber fast alle Energie schon eingebüsst. Sonst hätte sie durch die Doppelverglasung voll durchgeschlagen. Einen Abpraller hält eine Sicherheitsbrille aus. Sonnenbrillen nicht, die nehme ich schon lange nicht mehr.

the set up that bill has is much better.With the express bands and his grips the hawk is a much better slingshot than the stock setup.

Absolutely. The review is somewhat compromised without Bill's express bands on the Saunders Hawk. Thera bands could be used in the hawk anyways. I rather like the Saunders Hawk and don't think it really got a fair review . I think the product could be optimized by combining Chief AJ's HFX arrow rest and reel attachment features.

-I can see why he doesn't prefer it: the Hawk is weird when shot any way other than sideways, it even looks strange in the video when shot straight up and down.

If you hold the slingshot like Joerge holds the Hunter, you don't need the brace. This style of hold makes it easy to pull strong bands and I also think it makes most people a better shooter. Dankung slingshots are shot this way and that would be a good place for info on this style of shooting.

okay, Joerg's slingshots are awesome, innovative and creative. But why do none of his designs include the"wrist rocket" style wrist brace? Are they illegal where he lives or are his wrists so strong that he just dosent need one?

Three reasons.

1. Wrist braces are bulky. I like compact slingshots.

2. I am fairly strong and do not need a wrist brace.

3. Wrist braces are illegal in Germany.

Ok back to subject of tapered tubes. When you said you put loops on the fork side, do you mean the double loop like in the new dankung videos. I like the extra power from that design but the point where the different tubes connect must be causing some friction and my tubes are getting torn up. They didn't even last as long as Thera-band normally does. I was thinking more along the lines of the method of inserting smaller tubes into larger ones to create the taper. Maybe in the "V"?

I was so unhappy with the overall quality I wasn't interested in getting a replacement. It really looks like it was made buy a 12 year old in shop class. Poorly cut, badly sanded, and cheep leather. Not what I would expect from a skilled craftsman like Fish. Like I said before, the one in your video looks like better quality than the one I received. 30 US dollars and 7.50 for the bands plus shipping, not worth it, enough said.

Well, I did try to make a large loop in the tubes, on the fork side. It works! But of course Trumark sells factory tapes with tapering, those are pretty good.

Why do you think the Hunter is junk? The result of my test certainly came to a much different conclusion. The Hunter is compact, powerful, solid and affordable. Maybe nobody "defended" it because it wasn't under "attack".

I removed that comment . I would like to say that the Hunter that I received is not the quality of the one in your video. The plywood had a void in it between the forks and only one of the three bands I received had the quality of leather that you have. Sure its got Thera-Band gold but you can put that on any sling. I'll keep it as part of my collection. No offense to Fish I know he makes much better slings but they cost to much.

Well, if your fork is flawed, you need to tell Fish about it and ask for replacement. I am sure Fish will do that with pleasure. Yes, you can put good bands on any sling, but many people just want to buy a complete product ready for action.

The Hunter Is nice if you like plywood and leather that fells like vinyl. The American made Hand Cannon is the next level. Hand laminated hardwood (not plywood), Thera-Band Gold and better leather. The bands also have a more usable taper to allow proper draw and better acceleration of the projectile. Sorry Fish you are a distant #2.

As a kid I tried to make a slingshot with an old bicycle inner-tube. The material did not snap back fast enough to work. It would return to its shape but too slow for propelling anything. So, there are materials that may be difficult to stretch but lacking the "quick" elasticity it is useless for slingshots. Is there a name for this quality?

the reason bycycle rubber doesnt work is inner tubes have carbon-black added, which makes them much less elastic. Modern inner tubes use synthetic rubber.

best to use is theraband as in jorgs vid.

Your videos are Great but you always talking about the strenght of the slingshot can you do some reviews about the accuracy also. I mean a slingshot can be verry powerfull but have a really bad accuracy then its better whit the weaker slingshot that you can rely on to hit the target! = )
