Einstein struggled with language, failed on that part miserably on his college entrance exam. Edison didn't learn how to read until age 12, Alexander Graham Bell also had a learning disability. All 3 were known for being constantly absent for school and having lackluster grades, not cooperating well with others but themselves.
Yet you go to any American classroom and you'll find teachers modeling their students to be like them. Kinda ironic, don't you think?

The only difference is that Einstein focused much of his attention to the Maths and Sciences, slacked on other subjects. Otis on the other hand has a form of dyslexia, which proved to be more troubling, which in result led him to sue his college because he couldn't pass the English proficiency exam.

Both had meet previously and knew that both had stumbled on the same thing, so it eventually became a contest on who could solve it first. Einstein had been working on it longer than Hilbert and Einstein "solved" it first getting the credit. Though there was dispute as to who really finished first, later research proves Einstein beat him though.

I can tell from this old photo of Otis Mathis that his rank was a lowly E-3 at the time it was taken, even though the uniform itself looks like it goes with a higher rank. Personally, I would like to see more mathematically competent people in leadership positions in education. In that respect, I like he guy. I also have no idea what his values or motivations are. This is very important. And is he honest? I have had the misfortune of working under some VERY literate and VERY dishonest school officials.
Writing skill isn't everything, but for a school board president, it can't be completely ignored. Still, we're not talking about the superintendent, are we?

My great grandfather was dragged out of Detroit by my grandfather because the blacks were destroying detroit and he refused to move.
