Hi guys! I too am an MS patient, but I live my life to the fullest! I don't usually drink, but when I want booze, I drink! I don't apologize to anyone based on the occasional "drunken stupor" I enjoy. Simply because I will enjoy my life and not allow this shit disease to rule me! I've got it....but it doesn't have me!!! Enjoy your lives everyone, because when it's done, it's done! Cheers!!!:)
I love this video. It's what I would have posted if I had the courage to articulate it. There are way more of us than you find on the usual M.S. sites.

Thanks for the topic tes. My take: I feel good after a couple of drinks. Any dizziness or leg weakness is far less noticeable. If you DO overdo it, you're screwed. A flareup like feeling is almost certain. Drink water before going to bed and it will dampen the effect. Find your tolerance level and DO NOT exceed it. As far as pot goes, I find it slams me. I become hyper symptomatic after smoking it.
If the CCSVI theory is correct, then perhaps it's the blood thinning effect of alcohol? U R cute!
one word for MS: Cannibis. Alchohol does increase the body temperature which further degrades the Myelin sheath. Get baked and be fine and notice the changes!
Hey, I've got to share this one - WINE MIXED WITH WATER!
It's brilliant! I mix red wine with tap water, about half each. Delicious and refreshing, and without ill-effects (so far). The Ancient Greeks used to do this. Try it - you might like it :-)
Dr. Paul Sprira, neurologist in Sydney would ridicule me telling him stress was frequently a major factor in my relapses. His experience of MS is undoubtedly vast, but also vicarious.
One of the big problems with alcohol is dehydration. Stay hydrated whether you drink or not and you'll feel a lot better. Making your last drink or two water makes for a different tomorrow.
Marlo, Again I have a great admiration for you in telling your story and the little things that most wouldn't think of when it comes to dealing with MS. People choose to handle adversity in many different ways and I think you have chosen the most vibrant and positive route that showcases the beautiful person you are to the highest degree.
Thats the most pragmatic approach ever said for the matter of alcohol vs. MS because endorphins work much better on MS with, e.g., the help of a glass of wine, dont they? At least for those of us who can afford drinking a glass of wine or two without after-effects. So lets enjoy our Dom Perignon 1990, Ch. Lafite 2000, Ch. Margaux 1990, etc whatever the small consequences... :-)
I suppose I'd just say that, as everyone knows, alcohol exaggerates the way you're already feeling - with the proviso that, with MS, the way I 'feel' (physically and mentally) is usually already a pretty complex issue...
But socialisation is psychologically healthy, for sure. 9 times out of 10, at least.
I don't know if it is the MS or my tolerance is down (because I don't drink often) - but now I can reach "mellow" with only 1 margarita. I agree we need to take care of our MS, but we can't always deny every temptation. Moderation - and working towards health and happiness, that's the ticket.
I drink very little. I usually have fun and I feel loose after I drink San Pellegrino sparkling water!!! (not many other types of water arrived to the States from Italy, unfortunately!).
The bubbles do it for me!!!!! :)
I am the wrong person to talk about drinking because I don't do it very much or very often...but, when I do, I drink red wine, I love the Vin Santo with the biscotti, the picolit dessert wine from my region and the prosecco!
Sorry for not replying to you earlier but I was really very busy due to work by the end of the year with a small interruption of some Pyelonephritis by f-ing kidney stone which cost me 2 weeks including hospital admission... But Ill answer you properly during the weekend. Now may I help you with your wine shortage: send me the variety of wine you may wish to drink and Ill send you a case, deal?
I am sorry that you haven't been feeling well lately! I wasn't aware of this and I didn't know what to think when I didn't hear from you any more. I hope you are feeling better now!
About the wine...my husband bought me two bottles of Vin Santo for Christmas and this makes me sound like an alcoholic!!! while I don't drink much! but what I drink has to be Italian, so you can certainly send me some Picolit and some Prosecco! You make me smile, dear friend! :)
Well I am a wine drinker and I my heart is doing fine LOL.
I agree moderation is the key. For myself it is more of a social thing. To hang out with friends singing karaoke and just feeling half way like a normal person.
I know that I will pay the price the next day but I still have to live and enjoy my life the best as I can.
One thing I do is not take any of my pain meds etc if I know I will be having drinks.
@MSVlogSupport, red wine contains some kind of acid that helps.. cant remember what acid but simka was telling pinda at the glasgow conference.. pinda was asking because his wife always feels better with her MS the next day after drinking red wine..
i have never had a flare up after drinking, but i have had a little mental problems . it does relax me. but the moderation thing it totally true. ive gone out and got totally trashed and blacked out. that was a bad time but it didnt effect my MS that time. just really hung over...lool
thanks i'm not alone!

I have a couple but will not get wasted anymore. Great for relaxation and enjoyment.
It's just not worth it - feeling so crook the next day with the headache from hell...can't cope!
Haven't been trashed since end 2003 Xmas break up.
Optic Neuritis (first flare?) in Feb 2004. Wow that's a few years now!

Blessed new year my dear Marlo! You're looking fine woman! Nice n' cozy at the PC.
I heard you say 'In Flames' <3 Fave band! ;)
Cheap date lol!! I hear that. My medication makes me drunk faster. I have to be very careful.
Hahah, ok girl, when are you going to come drink with me in Canaduh eh? You make me laugh so hard, because your vocabulary is much like mine.
Mojitos mmm, though I'm also a beer drinker. Guiness is nice, local brews too.
Hugs!! xoxox!!!

Not long after diagnosis, when I was depressed and drinking WAY TOO MUCH.
I rationalized my drinking this way.
"Alcohol supresses the immune system which is attacking me so I will have another"
It is funny the mind games we play with ourselves.
Of course when my liver enzymes came back from taking interferon and drinking much and often.
My rationalization seemed pretty stupid.
Good video.

I am glad it did not affect you. The dehydration aspect of the alcohol hurts me.
