Why would Jesus say that the "Father is greater than I?" (John 14:28).

If Jesus is God, how can the father (aka God) be greater than Jesus? That's like saying God > God.

The only way to make what he says logical if you divided God in to 3 parts, each greater than the other. For example: Father = .5, Son = .3, Holyspirit = .2 But then again, if you remove one part, then you have an incomplete/unwhole god.

True, but those who wrote the gospels were around him for about 3 years. And back then they didn't have notebooks like we do, so they had to memorize things a bit more than us. By the question you asked, I can tell that you do not understand the Biblical view of Jesus as the Son of GOD! Jesus became the Son of God, when He took on flesh (Acts 13:33). A son of human can only be human, just like that, the term 'Son of God' is used to refer to Jesus having the same nature and form of God (Phil 2:6) Jesus is without a beginning, therefore He could not have been born!
