  • Mysterious Island (1961) has a prehistoric bird that one man rides a bit as he is killing it. lossley based on the book by Jules Verne, not sure if the bird was in the book or not?

  • This is why they don't let the Student Sword talk in his games.

  • My theory has been in favour the pre-historic bird being the inspiration for the design since I saw it in a museum a few years ago. The concept of what the bird would have looked like in real life is identical to the chocobo.

  • @DemonmachinELPs

I've always assumed it was the Horseclaws from Miyazaki's Nausicaa that inspired the Chocobo, considering how Hironobu Sakaguchi once mentioned Miyazaki as an influence on the FF series (which shows Miyazaki influence in other ways too, like the airships). However, now I understand where the inspiration for the Horseclaws came from, which means that ultimately, the pre-historic Gastornis bird was the origin of the design.

  • Everyone knows that "Wark!" is a thousand times superior than "Kweh!"

  • you failed to mention the common house canary, I have one and it's basically a small chocobo

  • Tabula Rasa in the bookshelf... T_T

  • @LosTChG Good eyes you got there!

  • Cool intro, great vid.

  • 2:12 mindfuck

  • LOL that Student Sword ripped off my catchphrase! =p

  • My internet is finally working long enough to watch this video and it's AWESOME! More, please.

  • One more info you dont have is.. Chocobo is also in PS1 in a game called "Tobal 2" which the game was made by the company "SquareSoft".. The game is only in japanese version.. The english version of that game was never made.. Only "Tobal No.1" has the english version.. But "Tobal No.1" doesnt have chocobos in it, i think.. The game is both Fighting + RPG game.. Do research on this :)..

  • Great video.

  • coooool

  • I'm a sucker for a good RPG show.

  • @GameKeeper28 Me too! Know of any? :p

  • @TheRpgFanatic I might know one. ;-)

  • @TheRpgFanatic I might know one. ;-)

  • All these years of FF and never knew this. Thanks for the research. :)

  • I'm happy when people actually do proper research for things. There are so many people using the magic 3 words (FAIL EPIC CLONE) and categorizes everything as being a clone of something or a complete ripoff.

    Keep at it!

  • @lungdisc I'm glad you enjoyed the video. I'll do more videos like this in the future, hopefully this can become a regular segment.

  • Great idea for a show. I'm interested.

  • hahaha i laughed hardcore during the chocolate balls commerical and when i saw south park's chef chocolate balls then when you put "fixed" haha

  • Speaking if your other vids, where did your Unlimited Saga review go?

  • How did the ideas for classes come about for Dungeons & Dragons?

  • @EdwardElric555 Good question. I know the answers but tracking down the sources again will take some time.

  • Can you do one for moogles:3

  • @holypie987 I'll try but that's a little harder, doesn't seem to be a lot of public information about it. I'll ask my contact at Square-Enix about it.

  • Love it. Interested in seeing what source material you'll use next.

  • @MrHP25 Thanks! I've got a lot of different ideas for future episodes. Some will take longer to research than others, but some I can practically write off the top of my head. I'm testing the waters with this video to see if there is demand for this kind of content.

  • Uh, what about the other sword that appeared?

  • @fallingtogrey77 Let's just say this video is not part of that continuity. Maybe it takes place after that, or before. Do you at least like it?

  • @TheRpgFanatic oh, If I don't slam the video then that means there is no problems with it.

  • @fallingtogrey77 Ah, that's good to know. But you should post when you think there's something right about it, since that feedback helps me.

  • Sorry to do the nagging. But will you start making Reviews of under rated RPGs again?

It has been a long wait now.

  • @skafjeld When will you start sharing my reviews of under rated RPGs? :p The fact of the matter is that I need to grow this channel and experiment with different show concepts to pull in audiences. If I'm only getting 2k-3k views on a video despite doing a week worth of work playing and editing it, the channel isn't going to grow. I'd love to do more reviews of games I love but few people are watching them. If that changes I'll do more of them.

  • @skafjeld In the mean time I need to do videos that people are going to share. So I came up with this segment, because I figure people will actually share videos that teach. I also need to focus on newer games because those are the ones people will share. Few people have shared my videos about older games, even though I like those games more and have more fun making them.

  • @skafjeld And btw, there are multiple advantages to having more subscribers. For one thing, it's easier to get advance copies of new games, swag to give out in contests, and secure interviews. Publishers want to know their time invested into me is not wasted, because what I do will get seen. But if my content isn't getting seen much then they are not as cooperative. I've got a lot of investigative journalism stuff I want to do but I'll need to improve my viewership to make it happen

  • When woman chocobo really loves man chocobo...
