Image-Line charges $170 for producer edition, comes with free lifetime updates.
Cubade, Sonar, Abelton Live 8, all cost anywhere from $400 + WITHOUT free lifetime updates. they expect you to pay $200-300 for new versions.

This is something of a non-argument anyway; your average photoshop user has a cracked copy, but never uses it for anything much beyond lolcats or basic shooping to post on whatever forum they dwell on. Obv. it is technically illegal to publish or sell your own work made with unlawfully-obtained software, but it can be helpful to d/l to learn the program. Case in point, Cubase doesn't even provide a demo version. If a person buys that as a result of d/l, everyone wins?

Once you buy it, you'll get access to in-depth video tutorials and forums to even further your knowledge and sound collection. trust me, it is worth buying. 180 dollars for a program that improves each year and for FREE once you buy it once, is a really great deal. enjoy :)

Cool thing is if you end up buying it, you don't need to uninstall or anything. You get an online account which has a list of the products you own a button to click to download your registration code. It unlocks whatever you have installed and paid for. No hassles. enjoy

You can download the demo from image-line website. You can use it as long as you'd like except you can't save your projects. Though, You can still render them to mp3. Buy a license from image-line and it will unlock your demo version.
