They just have the resonance knob cranked too high. That's why the 'whistling' sound is there. It has a very wide range. For more conventional, 'funky filter' sounds, the resonance knob should be somewhere between 9 and 12 o'clock.

Is that whisper/whistle sound on every setting? Sometimes it's more pronounced, especially at the end, but it's always there in this demo.

That is simply the sound of the high end being filtered. It is strange that they didn't change the settings .. the Meatball/wad can do much fatter and more dynamic sounds than this! :S
