The head bolts are actually tightened by two state of the art electric nut-runners on a support arm operated manually. You can see a similar arm being used in the background at around 20 seconds.

Very nice, looks like they keep things clean. One thing that does surprise me though is the way those bolts are dropped in at 1:32. I would expect them to be lowered much more carefully to prevent the threads ricocheting in the hole, leading to a minute chance of damage, and therefore dust. However, I would be no more careful myself if I only had 100 minutes to build an engine, so I shall keep schtum.

The DOHC V6 in the GTR weighs more than the Pushrod V8 in the ZR1 Corvette.

The GTR's VR38DETT engine weighs 608 pounds.

The Corvette's LS9 engine weighs 529 pounds.

alot of people do that. The car is actually worth more than it's sold for. People sell their GTR to make profit to buy even more but Nissan made it so that if you sell a GTR the warranty will be voided. Hi Giga, I just took deliver on a GTR. It's amazing! I did not buy it to resale. I did have to sign an agreement that I would not sell it overseas for two years and that if I broke the tranny using the LC, it would void the warrantee. I met a schmuck last weekend who blew up his tranny buy using LC thirty times in a row! Dump the clutch at 4,500 rpm in any car 30 times in a row and you will do damage. Nissan doesn't want to pay 20K for every moron who uses the GTR as a drag car.

im not sure about the prices or if you can even purchase them from the factory, but there are other places around that custom make engines like the rb26dett (the gtr engine).

im pretty sure you could pick one up second han for a few thousand depending where you are in the world... but i think enquiring to a local nissan dealer would be a start :)

Its a 3 step process. The final torqueing is done by a special custom made machine that does all bolts at the same time.

Well... the point of this car is the all around package. Sure that G35 could go fast but not much faster if at all than a Stock G35 with modifications.

Speed isn't the only goal here. It is handling, breaking, comfort, appearance, etc. If you just want speed in a strait line than you can get that much cheaper than $70,000.
