electric drill ?? ummm im pretty sure that was a CORDLESS IMPACT GUN and not a drill. almost the same, they sure look the same but have different purposes. why the hell would you use a drill? its a impact gun thats got a battery, theyve been around for ages.
@07350zhr i'd rather visit for a day. it probably sucks to do that everyday, but these technicians are highly trained and hand build Nissan's best engines, so the pay is probably not too bad haha
i was surprised they use a timing chain rather than belt, dont know why i was surprised...last thing you want is a belt snapping on one of these beauts.
our human bodies are like a car. The engine is the heart, the ECU is the brain and our arms and legs are the drivetrain. weird way to look at it but it's interesting.
Dude I got one thing for you the intestine is the spark plug cable.Hehe....and ya I agree what you comment there. What about our nose and lungs are they like our intake system?
depends on which corvette you're talking about. The ordinary "off the shelf" version, Hell yeah it's slow and over rated. But the z06/zr1? Those can keep pace with the best of 'em.
Please tell me he didn't just use a impact drill to put that head on.. please... hope he just snugged it up and then used a torque wrench :) haha im sure he did, but usually the #1 rule is to never use an impact to assemble an engine lol
First of all They where using an electric drill with a socket, NOT an impact wrench.
Second. How dare you question the competence of these technicians! Do you actually think you know so much about building engines that you correct these people?
The head bolts are actually tightened by two state of the art electric nut-runners on a support arm operated manually. You can see a similar arm being used in the background at around 20 seconds.
Very nice, looks like they keep things clean. One thing that does surprise me though is the way those bolts are dropped in at 1:32. I would expect them to be lowered much more carefully to prevent the threads ricocheting in the hole, leading to a minute chance of damage, and therefore dust. However, I would be no more careful myself if I only had 100 minutes to build an engine, so I shall keep schtum.
Lol at all the rednecks watching this video talking about how great their chevy zr1 and dodge acr is. "My V8 can do this y'all...I fuck my cousin y'all." Honestly...look at all the GT-R videos comment section. There would always be one redneck from America glorifying his freaking plastic chevy and minivan inspired dodge. Shit one even talks about how nissan sucks because its not in nascar?!?!? Rednecks make me laugh.
bigger pistons, bigger block, turbos etc. i am not a ricer i like a mixture of chevs, rotaries, sixes, and turbocharged 4s. i absolutely hate front wheel drive cars.
There will always be a muscle head calling Asian vehicles ricers, justifiably or not. I don't like them anymore than you do but instead of shooting them I think they should be educated so that they can well...STFU! LOL
Whoa I never expected the GT-R's pistons to be that big. That is one cool V6. Nissan shows the world that the number of pistons don't matter but the concept of the car
well in reallity honda has the NSXR it can handle the GTR but they may upgrade it to a V10 and i hear that toyota(lexus) will also install a V10 in the supra to bring it up to supercar standards. im not being sarcastic i read it somewhere, cant remember though.

shit, i wonder what honda has to offer. Honestly, their shit is fast off the production line. I hope they don't set that shit ass nsx out, that was just their imitation of a supercar. But i really hope that honda has something to offer.
Nissan has set this bar high, that engine looks bullet proof. Tough looking engine.
it's good to see them working at the realistic pace, fast.
Everytime they show a ferrari or Lambo engine assembly, they work so damn slow for the camera. And when they build the engine normally, you know they're bustin their ass to meet production numbers.
That engine is 100% made with magnetic enhanced charged allow metal for less vibration force against each part making it a huge magnetized engine box kept secret: I think?
alot of people do that. The car is actually worth more than it's sold for. People sell their GTR to make profit to buy even more but Nissan made it so that if you sell a GTR the warranty will be voided. That's just about the only problem with the warranty, all else is just bs. especially that transmission thing. That's just a net rumor from what i've read.
Hi Giga, I just took deliver on a GTR. It's amazing! I did not buy it to resale. I did have to sign an agreement that I would not sell it overseas for two years and that if I broke the tranny using the LC, it would void the warrantee. I met a schmuck last weekend who blew up his tranny buy using LC thirty times in a row! Dump the clutch at 4,500 rpm in any car 30 times in a row and you will do damage. Nissan doesn't want to pay 20K for every moron who uses the GTR as a drag car.
In fact you are wrong. You haven't taken delivery of a GT-R. Stop lying. I dumped the clutch at 4500rpm in my son's plastic kart and it had no effect. Wrong again.
would you rather say i have a ferrari which you might see a decent amount of times in your life or would you rather say would you like to see a car that you will only see once in your lifetime....
i don't get the GTR..in the US it costs about 110,000$...why? it's a Nissan...why not buy a used Ferrari or a Lambo...what would you rather say "ive got a jumped up Nissan" or " I've got a purebred Ferrari" and who gives a flying fuck that it goes around corners 0.005 of a second faster and that it laps the Nurburgring in 7 minutes...are you gonna use that? no not really and these days cars give you prestige...you ain't getting any from a Nissan...they've got too nerdy about it too
thats because your a snob!! ive ordered one And i have a FERRARI so what the GTR is much quicker and some of us do care how it performs on a track we drive cars not BADGES.
The Lamborghini LP560-4 isn't $110,000, it's $201,000. Good luck finding an old Gallardo for $110k
Although you could say, "I'm the guy that bought an old used Lamborghini for $110,000. I'm cool right?!"
If someone owns a GTR, they probably own other hand made cars as well. They didn't "save up their money" for it, if that's what you implied. After the first 3 prestigious car, you want something different.
Wow. You must be somewhere else right now. The GT-R costs around 70,000 dollars. And I wouldn't be talking about the GT-R that way because new and some of the older Ferrari's have five way traction control and you wouldn't want invite a person with that car or else they would start talking about it.
It appears you really don't know much about Nissan nor anything automotive for that matter. I suggest you do a little research in the future on the subject so next time you will have a valid argument and not just some stupid comments based entirely on your lack of automotive knowledge.
im not sure about the prices or if you can even purchase them from the factory, but there are other places around that custom make engines like the rb26dett (the gtr engine).
im pretty sure you could pick one up second han for a few thousand depending where you are in the world... but i think enquiring to a local nissan dealer would be a start :)
that would the place inside this vid. this was just a promotional vid, those guys are usually wearing fully deionized and dehumidified coveralls with facemask an everything.
The tech didnt torqe down the headbolts with a drill you bakka gaijin des...he was just running them down snug before putting a torqe wrench on them...get for real.
Do you think other "hand built" engine assembly is any different? We're not living in the 1920's anymore.
The GT-R engine assembly station looks like an operating room. Clean...clean...clean.
And Japanese workers have something called "pride of workmanship"...so you're comment about them being filmed...is irrelevant. The motors will ALWAYS be built to perfection. End of story.
Ferrari makes engines hand-made. Are you saying Ferrari is no good and the mechanics are just acting? Are you saying that Nissan has fake mechanics and engineers? They got proof to prove you wrong, smartass.
your an idiot, lol, Japanese cars are some of the best made cars in the world, i have a 1990! acura integra bone stock 160k miles.....and guess what......it runs baby!
Well... the point of this car is the all around package. Sure that G35 could go fast but not much faster if at all than a Stock G35 with modifications.
Speed isn't the only goal here. It is handling, breaking, comfort, appearance, etc. If you just want speed in a strait line than you can get that much cheaper than $70,000.
I need that engine in my golfcart !

The Corvette's LS9 engine weighs 529 pounds.

Its a 3 step process. The final torqueing is done by a special custom made machine that does all bolts at the same time.
marek0086 3 years ago
i think its cause theres allot of threads on the bolt so they use that and come back with a torque wrench cause its faster
ImportsAreBetter 3 years ago
no he wasnt, he was just screwing them down, but not fully..
1337ASM 3 years ago
actually its a torque drill, automatically stops at the desired torque, saves on assembly time.
nipponbaka 3 years ago 2
No... it is simply a run down. The actual torque is done with a calibrated driver later on.

when they said hand built, y0ou know, in the text articles out there, i pictures something FAR LESS assembly-line like and quick
hell these guys are also being filmed, which automatically means they are building it differently [for better or for worse]
LLCoolPass 3 years ago
Do you think other "hand built" engine assembly is any different? We're not living in the 1920's anymore.
The GT-R engine assembly station looks like an operating room. Clean...clean...clean.
And Japanese workers have something called "pride of workmanship"...so you're comment about them being filmed...is irrelevant. The motors will ALWAYS be built to perfection. End of story.

Ferrari makes engines hand-made. Are you saying Ferrari is no good and the mechanics are just acting? Are you saying that Nissan has fake mechanics and engineers? They got proof to prove you wrong, smartass.

ye they have 'electro-plated' bores. Either a Ceramic composite or Nikasil....not sure. The coating is 10 times harder than steel!!
Yes it would be quite expensive to get the bores re-plated........but you get what u pay for!.

The Yokohama Plant has produced over 35 million engines since 1935. AMAZING!!!

what a sleeper a G35 sedan would be with this motor swapped into it.
mugenman6 3 years ago 3
Well... the point of this car is the all around package. Sure that G35 could go fast but not much faster if at all than a Stock G35 with modifications.
Speed isn't the only goal here. It is handling, breaking, comfort, appearance, etc. If you just want speed in a strait line than you can get that much cheaper than $70,000.
