P40s were the original Genesis units delivered to Amtrak. They were rated at 4000 HP, had a top speed of 103 mph, and were numbered 800-843. All are now in storage or are being leased. P42s are rated at 4250 HP, have a top speed of 110 mph, and are numbered 1-207. P42s are the primary source of motive power for Amtrak's diesel powered trains.
I'm really starting to question where you get your facts from. Not that I get all of mine from Wikipedia, but for ease, look up "GE Genesis" and read the P40DC and P42DC section. GE doesn't even make a prime mover rated at 5,000 HP.
The other train their must be the Capital Limited. It's the only superliner train that goes to Washington D.C. although the Cardinal did have superliners for a couple of years before they switched to single leveled eqiptment.
This was the Carolinian. No doubt about it.

Those aren't superliners, those are Amfleets. Superliners are the bilevel cars that are taller than the Locomotive.

Yea, because 4,000 is the correct figure for the original P40's horsepower output.

The ORIGINAL P40 was rated at about 5000hp.

Amtrak's original GE P40s were rated at 4,000 HP, hence the -40 in the name. P42s have 4,250 HP, hence the -42.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
But the P40 was rated at 1000 more than the P42,Amtrak did not need this much power hence they bought P42s.

Wikipedia reads 4000hp and no one has tried to edit that because I'm always watching that topic.

Obviously no, the arriving train is NOT the Crescent. I honestly don't know what the other train is, so I'll take your word for it.

@JWall416 The only train that comes into DC with Superliners is The Capitol Limited (Trains 29/30) WAS-CHI
