When I watched GH back in the day, I don't think that I realized just how much older TG compared to GF. As an adult, I think that the age difference was too much. GF was 17 when she was paired up with TG, and he was 32 at the time. I know that the pairing worked for the audience; hence the ratings, but I don't know if it was the best thing for the actors involved.

I watched Luke and Laura everyday after school as a kid, thanks for posting these rare clips, they should release a big dvd collection on them someday! I'd love to see the full episodes again!

Luke was brought in for Lesley, not Laura. This is a fact, but it never happened. Luke was closer to Lesley's age than Laura's age.

I read in a few magazines that Luke was brought in to break up Rick and Lesley. In Luke's first scenes, he was with Lesley at the clinic. Luke commented how gorgeous she was ---I do remember those scenes. Obviously, that angle was dropped .

I also read years ago, that the writers originally was suppose to kill off Luke, but decided to kill off Roy (Bobby's Boyfriend), since Tony & Gene had good chemistry.

Roy was killed off because ABC wanted to use him in a prime time show. That's the only reason Luke stayed on GH, and the rest is history.

@atmkws - that may be one of the reasons Luke stayed on, but the fact that "Luke and Laura" were a big hit is another reason why he wasn't written out of the show.

@RealLoisLane : You getting mixed up with another Soap maybe? Luke's 1st scene's were with Bobbie, and he was brought in to make problems for Laura. Bobbie wanted Scotty, so Luke came on as the big brother to help her get what she wanted (:

The 1st time he met Laura, he said hello and as she was walking away he said "My God she is Beautiful, is'ent she". That scene is on youtube in many of the vid's posted.

@RealLoisLane - I don't think that Luke's age is closer to Lesley's age than Laura's age. GH never actually reveals the age difference b/w Laura and Luke. Other characters have referred to them as "you young people" and "kids." Laura has even mentioned that Luke was not that much older. There's a 12 year age difference b/w Denise Alexander (1939) and Tony Geary (1947) and a 15 years age difference b/w Genie Francis (1962) and Geary.

@gfloyd100 - continued. With respect to the above post - I think that the age difference may be more of an issue b/c even though there's a 3 years difference 15 versus 12, GF was only a 17 years old teenager and TG was an adult. As the actors/characters aged, I think that there's not much difference in a 12 year gap versus a 15 year gap.

Thanks for posting this! I am a little too young to remember these days (I was only 2!) so it is great to see Luke and Laura in their prime. Genie Francis was a stunner!
