It's so true. Limaugh, who supported the war, yet got out of it because of a boil on his ass, constantly attacked Clinton, who did not support the war, for dodging the draft because he refused to fight for something he didn't believe in.

Ok,ok. We need to call this section the scare crow corner, cause reading some of these posts tells me many of you are in need of a brain. Scotty, Clinton never served. He was CINC, you know the civillian head of the military. 2nd, listening to this is not funny. Only Al's little sicophants sit around and laugh at this panzy-poet pap.
I know Clinton didn't serve. That was my point. It was okay because he didn't support the war, and rightfully so because Vietnam was a bullshit war.
Clinton never lied about where he was during the war unlike the awol Bush. He wasn't one of the cowards who cried out for war but only as long as others take the risks and make the sacrifices.

OK, OK. Deep breath. This is why nobody listens to you libs. You rant in circles and nobody has an idea of what your talking about. Even yourself. If you want to present an arguement first gives facts, then proceed in a logical and reasoned way. Ok tweety bird?
Actually, it seems like about 70% percent of American are listening to the libs on Iraq.
I'm not going in circles. Please explain how I am. I made a perfectly clear, perfectly valid point. If you're too big a moron to understand that's your fault.
It's not like we're talking quantum physics. People who support a war and refuse to fight in it are cowards. People who do not support a war and refuse to fight in it are not.
Just the idea of Limbaugh serving his country in Vietnam is nothing short of hysterical. Franken's Operation Chickenhawk would make a first class war movie. Conservative courage on parade.
As someone who's served in the military, I respect Clinton more than Bush, even though Clinton was not a great commander-in-chief. However, I can respect what Clinton did. He just left and refused to participate in a war he didn't believe in. There's no cowardice in that.
Well said Scotty. Clinton didn't believe in the war, while a guy like Dan Quayle DID, then hid behind his rich parents and avoided service....I will say however, Clinton was a better Chief than given credit for. It was HIS military that Bush inherited, that went into Afgahnistan and swiftly dismantled the taliban.... And YOUR service, is greatly appreciated. Maybe you don't hear that enough times !
chief was that he and Hilary turned the military into a big lab for social experimentation and they made it a little too PC. Much of the military is now more concerned with not offending people than they are about being ready to defend the country. Another thing was that under Clinton, politicians started micro-managing the military which doesn't work well.
The problem with this kind of analysis is that although Limbaugh is pro-Iraq-war Pat Buchanan has always been anti-Iraq-war. George Will also is at least in part a war critic.
How can you be a draft dodger if you join the Air National Guard? Trust me on this, if you are really a coward you won't try to fly a military aircraft.
No, but you are a coward if you join and then use your powerful dad to cover up the fact that you couldn't be bothered to show up for your one weekend a month while still getting paid for it.
I think a lot of people keep missing the point: If these guys are so for a war, why don't they go fight it? If you beleive it's such a noble cause,if you beleive in it so much that you are ready to call those who oppose it cowards or traitors, you don't wait to get drafted, you volunteer!
Yo nitz- When I enlisted in '67 I don't remember any USO Assholes except maybe Jane Fonda. Is that like the same thing? Boy, I'll tell you what though, with a talent like Franken no wonder Air America is such a big hit. Didn't he date Ann Coulter?
Uh nope. Read Lies and the Lying liars who tell them. And the point being though, what Al did was a helluva lot more in providing comfort and support to the troops than any of the characters in Operation Chickenhawk. (North Excepted.)
There's propaganda on either side. When Clinton was in office the Limbaugh crowd harped about his deferment, and likewise reversed now that W's commanding the Hindenburg. But Franken is hardly objective; I don't believe he said a cross word about Clinton's Balkan Wars, in which America had every bit as little business as Iraq.
Ah do you know how many people died from genocide over there or where you just listening to FOX news again? Even better, that was the sole reason for going to the balkans with our NATO allies I might add. Franken does do research. Notice in his books he has something you may have heard of, it's called a footnote.Limbaughs ghost writer, John Fund, even said how accurate Frankens facts were. Ask the Repugs for their sources and get ready for a long delayed response.
Seeing as how it was evident by my posts here that I opposed the Iraq war and military interventionism/adventurism at large, only someone who's blind, foolish, or a liar would suggest I'm a fan of Fox News, a GOP member, or a Limbaugh fan. Like Franken and many of the interventionist *ahem* "liberals" (those of the statist kind, not classical), you seem to think using military force unconstitutionally is fine so long as it's for "humanitarian" purposes.
The American military is in place to protect and defend the United States, not intervene in the thousands of factional battles and "genocides" taking place all over the world. How bout North Korea? How many peasants has that psychopath in Pyong Yang killed? Thousands are dying RIGHT NOW. Yet I don't hear anybody clamoring for intervention there (nor would I agree with it, unless Kim clearly attacked the United States).
During Vietnam George W. was snorting coke at Harvard and Clinton was hanging out in Russia while not inhaling. Citing the fact that others are corrupt doesn't make you any less so. This is the game that both phony political parties play to make you believe you have a choice in your government. Only a fool would listen to Franken or Limbaugh.
Hanoi was not a threat to the U.S. Our involvement in Vietnam was one of the main reasons the Cold War lasted so long. After we got out of Korea, we should have concentrated on building a strong defense and accelerating the arms race.
Vietnam, like all US foreign interventions, was a mistake, and Buchanan supported it because he was in Nixon's administration. That said, Hanoi was an active aggressor, backed by a powerful, expansionist enemy, and stemming its advance was part of a containment policy adhered to by all mainstream players in Washington, GOP or Democrat. It was JFK who initiated America's extensive involvement there.
@ralphosize Actually Eisenhower initially got us involved in Vietnam; JFK and Lyndon Johnson expanded our involvement. Luckily Nixon had the good sense to get us out of Vietnam.
Bit of a problem there, fella (or ma'am): one of the names in your list, Buchanan, is not chickenhawk, and was quite vehemently opposed to many US wars, including Iraq and the twin Balkan campaigns, which were prosecuted by that other intrepid draft dodger Slick Willy.
