OMG,I've been sitting here watching old SCTV vids that I have not seen for over 25 years. As soon as a video starts,I remember the rest of the skit and instantly start laughing! This one is the best. The way she is dancing reminds me of how one of my older sisters dances at weddings when she is screwing around.
I remember watching this clip back in 1981 when it first came out over at a friends place,i was just laughing my head off because this clip was so funny...
No, old Slim passed away a few years ago. I will check out "Merv/Salute to the Sixties"...thanks for the heads up!
Does anyone remember Andrea Martin's SCTV character, Dr. Cheryl Kinsey? She was a sex therapist who had these really weird facial tics and shoulder shrugs and she would smell her fingers and then make ugly faces, etc. Another brilliant character!!! And HILARIOUS, too, i might add!
I wiswh I could tell you for sure. "Just a little touch of heaven..." Good old Slim Whitman I wonder if he is still alive? I'm glad you found something to laugh to, and I helped. Have you seen my piece of their "Merv/Salute to the Sixties"?
"Slim Whitman" sings at 0:20 Rose Marie, thats clear, but what song is he singing at 0:26 until 0:31, I recognize it but i don't think its also rose marie???? can some1 help me please
Slim Whitman is playing Punji Guevara in this musical spoof of "Evita" (Che Guevara was played by Mandy Patinkin [of the TV show "Numbers] in the original), and he's singing the parody version of the original "Evita" song "Don't Cry for Me, Argentina", here rendered as "Don't Cry for Me, Rawalpindi". He's singing as Slim Whitman would normally sing, not trying to copy Mandy Patinkin's style. Type in Evita +commercial on You Tube and you'll see the original. SCTV did a terrific parody!
Glad you like one of my favorites. SCTV is one of the great comedy groups of all time. Maybe acquired taste...If you like it send the word out you found it here.

He is singing "Oh, What A Circus" from the musical Evita -- which this is a spoof on.
