  • check out my 147 at claudy snooker if u like

  • I saw Mark at Bargoed Continental xD

  • Can't believe it's more then six years ago from now. I remember this event like it would have been yesterday.

  • @pocketdynamo87 Same here. I remember this well too. He was a scrape away from the uk title recently and a close world title again but unfortunately i think he's past his best now.

  • whouaaaaaaaa

  • this guy is a potting machine

  • Sublime player is Williams ; unflappable temperament and a good guy

  • Comment removed

  • BRILLIANT

  • @AntiFanBoy1 Ronnie would have had 100% better positional play, you idiot. That's why he has made 10 maximums.

  • @DLPBurke So ?, in my view this was all the BETTER than the controlled ones as he made it more difficult for himself with many of these shots

  • i know mark williams! my uncle sponsors him..

  • best single ball potter in the game. i'm really happy he found his form again because his attacking game is just a joy to watch

  • Williams may have lost tonight and may now be past his best but no shame, he's a legend for his 2002/2003 form alone. That was when I discovered snooker, watching a then-unstoppable Mark win all four major titles in a row. Definitely up there among my favourite all-time sporting moments, pure magic !!

  • Mark Williams is a wonder to watch he just glides around the table. such a pity that he lacks the mentality and resilience of J Higgins, otherwise undoubtedly he would win more titles.

  • @AntiFanBoy1 That's what I was trying to say lol. The poor positional shots made the 147 more impressive because of the brilliant potting

  • Mark Williams looks like Nicolas Cage.

  • @snoopdogg111000 : Wonder what you look like? Snoop or Lily?

  • mark williams is awesome

  • mark's cue action is unique...love him...

  • nice 147 but very bad positional shots

  • @Pandush1 Isn't that the brilliant thing about this 147?

  • 6:16 what a shot

  • the best potter of all time.

  • the best 147 EVER ...

  • Scheisse

  • i am from quebec canada , so i speak french and i was just wondering what means Welsch , i guess it means someone from a certain place in the world so please if anyone of you could tell me , i am curious ! i have an idea but not sure maybe welshe are the people living in the prince of wales territories ? so anyways nice game i liked it :)

  • @giannispecioso welsh its a place in england

  • @snookerjam tx :)

  • @snookerjam u absoloute down syndrome :L, wales is a completely different country.. its juat within britain..

  • @snookerjam no its a place in britain how dare you say its a place in shitty england

  • @giannispecioso hes from wales where i live

  • @NewbGotCash so my guess was right then :) ty

  • @giannispecioso a welsch person is from wales just like a person form ireland is irish

  • @giannispecioso the place is called wales and it is part of uk welsh means if you from wales you get called welsh like if your from england they get called english

  • how can 3 people dislike this?

  • Milkins looks like Michael Buble.

  • He is so relaxed after his 147,,, thats pretty cool. i am impressed. Did u observe his intentions at 04:55 he started thinking about 147 even before securing the frame, if he missed that black he could have lost the frame, so this is exactly what confidence is......

  • @saeedahmed1231

True, but when you win 9-1 and your name is Mark J. Williams you can afford the risk of losing a frame to finish in style. :)

  • Nice 147 Williams :)

  • If Mark Williams could improve his positional play he would be an incredible player. His potting ability can't be doubted though, and this 147 is a good summary of his game. He is by far my favourite player though, love how he goes into exhibition mode and is so relaxed around the table. Also his stance while cueing looks like a drunken horse.

  • @EliteGi

I never noticed that weird stance until you mentioned it. Very strange indeed.

  • tony drago is always around for the 147s love Mark

  • 05:18 - 6:22 was pure class . Btw gratz to Mark Williams for winning China Open 2010 .

  • What a great 147. Virtually every pot was center pocket.

  • Is that 'snooker'? I don't think I fully understand the game, but it's pretty clear that Mark Williams is fantastic at it.

  • yea its snooker...watch a few snooker games and you'll pretty much understand the rules :)

and yes mark is one of the best

but Ronnie O'Sullivan is my favorite :P

  • Quick question - is the rule that you can only sink the black ball every OTHER turn? Because this guy looks so good that he could just sink the black one non-stop if it were legal to do so.

  • yes it is a rule.

and no doubt he would :P

  • Mark is the best :D

  • R.I.P Mark

  • wow.. amazing.. but seriously did milkins miss that first ball on pourpose ??

  • Why would he? Great place to attack that red and get position to black. 9-1 to Williams, so there's nothing to lose.

  • obviously not ya stupid cunt!

  • its there! its there! how many times

  • I counted 4 times for 3 shots. Get in was said twice as well. Dennis Taylor's enthusiastic commentary, but who can blame him? A superb break, it looked like the 147 had gone several times.

  • tony drago makes that video

  • its the way he recovered from the poor positioning that makes this an all time classic 147.... go on the welsh wizard

  • every time u watch ....there is something to learn more and more

  • once again i watch 147 on here alots ... this is one of the best ... better n harder then most of it....when i watch mark n ronnie i play 100% better...thanks you mr william....

  • Come on today Mark, got to the semis with a injured hand, hoping you make the final

  • Amazing Mark Williams Just Simply Great Keep Up The Good Work Class!

  • i love the way mark tries to cut the black in when there's a re-spotted black, cracks me up every time! lol. good luck today mate

  • Dennis Taylor still think Mark Williams can win the World Championship.

He will probabaly get back in top 10

and maybe win or get final of a few tournaments but I dont think he will this again but I wouldnt bet against him if he finds his best form.

  • Amazing to think that just a few seasons ago Mark Williams was world number 1 holding every BBC trophy in the same season, putting in performances like this and now he's struggling to stay in the top 32... Matthew Stevens is the same, Stephen Lee, Ken Doherty etc etc... Really is surprising

  • well not all ronnies 147s started with a fluke,i think thats abit harsh.but i do like the way he played some shots on this maximum, marks a great player

  • Well, great quality, great 147, certainly not the prettiest but who cares, they all count, why be so anal about it ?

  • Awful? That's a bit harsh maybe not like Hendry and O'Sullivan but his potting at his best is second to none. He still has over 200 centuries.

  • 10-1 amazing

he is a great player but he never seems to come into his own recently

  • Well he's back in the top 16.

I hope we'll see him rock the tour again, soon!

  • Mark Williams and Paul Hunter (RIP). Best players!

  • Very nice recovery shots he had. Maybe the best 147 i´ve seen.

  • keeps losing position only to recover with a blinding pot...it always seems to dennis taylor commentating on 147's

  • Dennis Taylor is a D**KHEAD

  • PWNAGE!!

  • the amount of awkward/difficult shots he pulled off there... Nice one son!

  • Best long potter in the history.

  • @Killa4Life111 im a big fans of roonie but this is very very true

  • M.J. Williams - one of my favourite snooker players.

  • Well done with a lot of confidence.

  • hmmm i thought mark made a maximum at the crucible before....mayb im wrong

  • best left hander ever

  • meeeeeeeeeee

  • SHIT!What about Jimmy White!

  • Yet another great 147.

  • 6th maximum at the Crucible

  • Wow some spectators can watch both game but some can only watch one of it.

  • when i said "but this wasn't at the crucible" i was talking about the 147 made in the qualifier rounds and not about Mark's break

  • congrats for the 147. poor positioning he wouldnt have got it if he wasnt the welsh potting machine

  • i couldnt agree more im not even sure Hendry or o'sullivan would have made it

  • You have no idea of snooker... Mark Williams is one of the best players and he will soon win his 3 rd world ch title

  • Etc re!!! Oloi oi ellines Mark Williams!!!

Mark Williams has an average-to-poor positioning, but he is one of the most brilliant players and the best potters out there... And yes, i bet on him for the world title 2009!

  • I think that is the hardest 147 i have ever seen

  • What a way to win the match

  • I wish Graham Taylor would stop getting the number of Crucible 147s wrong. He always seems to create one. There have been six, and this was the sixth. He thought this was the seventh, and I believe he continues to make this mistake on occasion.

  • no, this was the seventh 147 at the crucible!!

robert milkins did a 147 in a qualification match in 2006 for the crucible!!

  • Well this was 2005

  • but this wasn't at the crucible

  • Yes it was, at 10.08 the commentator says the cruicible crowd.... D'uh

  • when i said "but this wasn't at the crucible" i was talking about the 147 made in the qualifier rounds and not about Mark's break

  • Graham Taylor? I think you mean Dennis. :)

  • Do I not like that.

  • he's welsh potting machine, not welsh position play machine

  • This is, to date, a sort of last hurrah for Williams.

  • Welsh legend! To be number one ahead of Ronnie and Hendry for a few years was some achievement. This 147 was class. Some difficult shots on the way.

  • Shame mark has struggled with form since he joined forces with terry grithiths. This is an equisite example of what break-builiding is all about; recovering position while consitently stroking the cue-ball and keeping focused. A great example of the man himself.

  • Can you miss shots by quite a while?

  • Is this the while to Amarillo

  • Lololol.

  • It's a loss to the snooker sport that Mark Williams obviously not practice as much as he did few years ago. Who can forget his fabulous seasons between 1999 and 2003. Back then he was potting balls from every distance and angles. Just marvellous, as his nickname.

  • A great 147, its actually my favourite because of the tricky shots Williams potted on the way.

  • Totally agree! Between those years, in my mind he showed some of the greatest snooker form in history. A really enigmatic player - I just hope he returns to form.

  • marks was better to watch simple as he is the greatest single ball potter ever!

  • but its not hard to compare, not being harsh but ronnies was just way better, accept it. mark williams one may have been full of impressive shots, but they werent as consistent as ronnies constant stream of genious and speed. in conclusion, bye.

  • The speed that Ronnie done his break at is irrelevant. Mark's break was full of much more impressive pots, but they were only more impressive because of his terrible position. So it's actually quite hard to compare the breaks.

  • Nail on the head - The reason there were so many impressive pots is because he ran out of position so many times. See Ronnie's, or John Higgins' vs Williams in the LG Cup of 2003 for exceptional positional play and cue ball control.

  • im welsh but ronnie's was better, the speed of it was awesome, anyone who has ever played will appreciate it

  • To be honest, I think any snooker player that can pull off a 147 deserves the freedom of their city.

  • truely magical..ronnie watch this space

  • Can't make up my mind on which is the best. When I watch Ronnie's record setter or this, I always want to see the other. Arguably Mark is the best potter, Ronnie the best breakbuilder. How many times during this break do you think 'how did he even think of trying to pot that?' or during Ronnie's 'how on earth did he got the cue ball to do that?' I can only hope we'll have one season when both are on top of their game and clash at the crucible. That would get a lot of you debating I'm sure

  • this is better than ronnie's 147, who cares if the positioning of the balls, we want to see some hard shots. this break is more entertaining than ronnies 147

  • Mark did a few 147s that i saw before. Maybe this 147 is better than ronnie's but have u seen all ronnie's 147s before? you should see how fast and aggressive his shots are. 5min 20s for the world fastest 147. he did 3 times. the other 2 was below 6m 40s.

  • Sorry guys when did speed of thought ( or lack of ) have anything to do with snooker?

  • Absolutely right mate, any 147 is impressive!

  • It doesn't matter that Mark Williams ran out of position more than Ronnie and is somehow not considered as good as Ronnie despite having won nearly as many tournaments, as many World finals and having lost fewer major finals than Ronnie, the fact is that this was a 147 break and, with the exception of a free-ball 147 that has yet to happen in tournament play, that requires 15 reds, 15 blacks and the colours. More than any of his critics could even dream of accomplishing.

  • Why do people always have to compare?

Both are amazing breaks - end of story.

  • No 147 break will ever beat Ronnie's 5 min 20 secs one, and only reason Mark's shots were harder is because his positional play isn't as good as the great Ronnie O'Sullivans

  • Ronnie's 147 in 5.20 is way more impressive. All you have to say is FIVE POINT TWENTY, and that says it all, really. Sure Williams had to take on some hard shots but that was just because his positional play wasn't as good as Ronnie's. And once again 5.20 :)

  • Agree 100% with you, Ronnie's was perfection as he never ran out of position. Williams had some great recovery shots but that was because he had dodgy position

  • well said

  • Awesome!

  • Cymru am <s>byth</s> BADASS!

  • 1st welsh player..that is amazing!!!

  • Wah a legend makes me proud to b welsh and kinda related :D

  • that is amazing!!!

  • wow this is a more difficult one indeed. but to make the shots easier is one thing a great player must be able to do, isn't it? well luck is sometimes important as well anyway.

  • That was really more impressive than Ronnies 5.20 maximum cos the shots he had to make were harder.

  • You are kidding right??

  • OMFG that was fcking amazing. i've never seen anyone clear a snooker table b4 oh wow what a freak
