hello mate yeah i get what you mean the goldrush album classic and some of the stuff with crazy horse also good but he played some shit guitar ramped up to 11 i thought was naff
Man, they still sound good without Jerry Garcia's steel guitar. Stand up parents of the '60's and practice what you preached with your kids now. Beautiful song.
Superb! They were so together, Nash was lead singer on several Hollies songs (On a carousel etc) but his backing vocal on Southern Cross was a clear indication of his dedication to CSN
This is it, "The Definitive" parent/Child song. Dont you ever ask them why. If they told you you would cry, so just look at them and sigh. . . . and know they love you.
Listen up kids, THIS is music. This is a thing they call singing. No fancy electical devices on their voices, no bass overpowering their harmonization, no tricks, just great singing.
Thank you csny for your voice, your love, your Martin dreadnoughts, and your advice to my and the next generation....priceless and adored and loved, thank YOU !
for me, as a European, native valley inhabitant in the Tyrol, ears wide open to what happans out ther in the wide, wide world; this is the, THE American song!
Check out the Red Hots version, it has Suzy Bogguss, Alison Krauss and Kathy Mattea on vocals accompanying Graham Nash, and I believe it's a superior version.
I absolutely love this video, I'm always watching it. They're so charming, in a natural, unpretentious way. And they use their beautiful voices so well, what lovely harmony, a delight to pay attention to! And play their guitars so beautifully. What lovely music.
I'm 55 now, and never went to pop concerts or anything, more of a stay at home type, but I love their performance of this song.
stephen stills is in the suit jacket....david crosby has the big muttons as usual..and graham nash is the soft voice singing lead...Neil Young ran away to do drugs long ago....he is still alive..btw the song is teach your children !

"We were right about a lot of things. We were right that peace is better than war. We were right that love is better than hate. We were NOT right, as it turned out, about drugs."
we should let all the bratty fat kids listen to this great song, so they'll realize life is not all about getting what you want and bullying weak kids!
I grew up in the time of real talent & I miss it, the kids today will never know what real talent is. Since they mask the voices of the so called singers of today with electronics so sad..& they have to be half naked for them to perform or wear crazy outfits like Lady Gaga I mean really is that all needed?? I have music on my ipod & yes have records or as my son calls them big cd's. I'm thankful my son knows good music when he hears it
I'm listening to this song right next to my 15 yrs. old son and all of a sudden I wish I could live long enough to share this music with his children too.
How could 'We the People "have come from this, most beautiful peaceful (except Kent State University ) revolution, to become the Murdering Invaders of foreign countries to steal their OIL? .Have we taught our children well? "Public Education" is mind control.
We don't need to see the lyrics. I think everyone who searches this song knows them well. We love this song because it speaks to us, thats why we want to teach it to our kids. <333
@steelerbradd True, very true. I'm fortunate to have grown up with part of this and more in my life. Today's kids are realizing (some of them) that this is the real thing, real music. I love to see their ecclectic music taste.
I was angry with my son. He was lying in bed after being a real too. I stumbled across the song while surfing and played it. It brought back a truth that I sometimes forget. Tears came to my ears. I went in and told him I loved him and knew he loved me. It was a good moment.
I thought of my grandparents when I first heard this song (I was about 17), then I thought about my parents. Now I think about my son and his daughters.

This is one of those unique pieces of music that:
1)bowls you over the very first time you hear it
2)continues to move and affect and delight you for years after
3)(for me)Absolutely should only be sung by its original performers
(Crosby,Stills,Nash in this case), anybody else just wouldn't sound right.(except for enthusiastic amateurs, which I usually enjoy!)
