Some truth in what he says but many falsehoods. People can remember more than one point from a talk otherwise there needn't be any need for supporting points and arguments. Also, if laughter detracts from the main thrust of a talk it is a bad thing. I remember a speaker who gave a talk and was very amusing. After he'd finished none of us knew what he had been trying to tell us, that is a lousy speaker.
