@adamdicy yea as a kid watching reruns of this show, i thought it sucked, probably was alil over my head back then...this particular episode is really amazing!
when andy is in the woods seriously doubting opie, but still having faith in him, and the impossible "mr. mcbeevee" is suddenly possible..wow..pure magic..
the episode with buddy ebsen as the wise hobo is on this same level, how fantastic the last few minutes of that episode are as well..
im 17, and ive been watching old movies and shows since i was very little. if my mom wasnt so old and didnt have all these old movies, i wouldnt be into them at all. bless my mom :D
notice at 835-840,there looks to be some kind of animal coming out of that old tree trunk right by Opie's right shoulder, can anybody tell what that is?i know i see something sticking its head out, then bringing it back in,from that old tree trunk.
I grew up watching reruns with my grandfather! Sweet memories! ( I live outside the US now, and until I found your channel was unable to watch. TV land dot com blocks outside USA.) I'd hug you if I could! Thanks again!!
Opie sure did fooled Barney, alright!!! Hahahaha!!!! For a moment, Barney really did thought Opie had a horse. Tahahahaha!!!! That was really good!!!!!
at 1:31 barney said he wanted to go see the horse but on the episode ''divorce mountain'' barney was alergic to horses and didnt want to come near a horse anyway thanks for puting this up
I grew up in the 50's and 60's,and things were definitely different back then. It was safe (in non-urban areas) to leave your door unlocked at night, and everybody knew their neighbors. There were "bad" adults then, too, but not nearly as many.
In the economic sense of things, can't you see the relation between those happier days and the fiscal spending of your big government ? I grew up in the 70s and early 80s myself. My parents used to get by with less money back then than parents these days.
@lonewulf44 yea, and your positive attitude is really helping it...why not have some kind of faith in mankind (sure the world is full of problems, but would you expect a place with 7 billion people on it to not have major problems/evil/ugliness?)
embrace similiarities you have with people, dont revel in your diffrences..
@jauvon13 Well, I don't blame them per say ... it just represents the epitome of the culture and society gone down the drain. I blame it for it's programming and pathetic nature of content but I blame parents and us as a population for watching the rubbish. So, please excuse any 'blamin' :)
I grew up in the 80's and my small town was still like this ... yet 20 years later the breakdown and collapse of secular society has filtered down to even there. The junk of the urban society and environment have just about ruined everything these days as the culture seeps into even the rural area.
Wow! It's hard to believe how different things were back then compared to today. I guess you could let your kids out of your sight to play in the woods. Nowadays you certainly can't! Too much evil in the world, unfortunately.

Lord Jesus Christ still loves and saves from sins. His gift of eternal salvation is free because He already purchased it with His blood.

They always tried to open each season with a story exploring the relationship between Andy and Opie, and this very clever episode is no exception.

The actor who plays the role of Mr. McBeevee, is he Irish? By his accent, he sounds like he is.

The Andy Griffith Show is # 1. The best ever, and this episode is both funny and heart wrentching. Ronny Howard's performance is superb......
