What i do is i hold shift and press the hotkey for smartcasting so i can choose to see the range of the ability or i can just cast it instantly by holding shift

Whats a good key to bind for smart casting. Shift, Control and Alt are all placed awkwardly to use while have you're fingers up top but those seem to be the ones mentioned most of the time.

I currently only smartcast rumbles harpoons and urgots grenade. Im probably going to try smartcasting Rivens ult as well, because none of her other abilities use a targeting system and it currently feels a little odd.

@Jonathan3535 Nono. See, the regular way to cast a spell (like a target spell for example) is to hit the keyboard key and then click your target. With smart casting, it takes away the need to click on your target after pressing the keyboard key.

I use something like smartcasting.. For example I put my usable items in slots 1,2,3 and then i just click 1,2 or 3 and I'm ready to cast it or activate it.. It's quite useful..

i have been getting used to using SHIFT from time to time, and i developed a habit of consistently pressing shift on some skills that i feel i know the range and stuff like that for example i just hold shift down and mash QE while playing swain, as well as akali's Q. I don't feel comfortable of having all keys set to smartcast, so shift really helps when i need quick combos on 1 person, not precise placements.

Maybe don't use it on a new champion when you need to learn the ranges.
