  • My Dad who is Swedish would agree with you!! Being half Swedish (Mom was German) I have to agree with you!! Sadly we only speak bits and pieces as my parents were not raised fully in it. If I ever have a family and my husband is from another culture my kids will know it and who they are. Neat you lived in Ottawa. I was born in Kingston but an Ottawan since I was 2. Take Care.

  • Love Swedish meatballs

  • Daycare at a year old? That means that a stranger no matter how educated is going to potty train your child. With all the mental hang ups around that and rushing your kids to grow up that cant be good in the long run. I think my moms way was best. I never knew daycare and only had a babysitter or two a few times and school started at 5 or 6. NOBODY can give a mothers care. If they can you should not have kids.

  • @CatpurrRobertaBobbi

its simple - scandinavians arent pussies like north americans are. they arent afraid of everything and dont think that everyone is out to get them. APPARENTLY your mothers way is the best, but you need to consider that scandinavians are happier and more productive than canadians. i have lived in both ottawa and stockholm and i can tell you that everything in sweden is just better.

  • @CatpurrRobertaBobbi

Your child should be potty trained before they turn 1. I know I was and my brother was also. Sweden is one of the best countries when it comes to people and services.

I really wish they would relax some of their drug laws though.

  • 4:40 Some Swede needs to update his English. He's a Personal Chef? For whom does he cook? lol

  • @Viljarism

It's swedish, equivalent to head of personnel or head of human resources. Chef means boss

  • Sweden is balanced. That's why it's great. Too bad people are thinking conservatism would solve the immigrant problem. It would solve one problem but fuck up the rest.

  • Ironiskt att de intervjuar en tysk...

  • @MojoRisinist

Fölster är inte tysk! Han har bara valt att prata tyska istället för engelska med intervjuaren.

  • I'm Swedish. And just to point out so you know. The Swedish democrats are not a far right partey. They are basically a leftist party with immigrant critic views, since we get over 100000 immigrants each year, and many just live on the system, also many criminals over 50% of the long time sentenced in prison aren't even Swedish citizens.

  • I did a good thing to move here...

  • How could they forget the most important part? Sweden gained control over its banks, allowed the stupid ones to fail, punished those who did not follow the rules. That's why they aren't as indebted or exposed to Greek debt as the rest of Europe. That alone allows them to spend money cutting taxes or on stimulus rather than bailouts, a tremendous competitive advantage. Also, Sweden is not part of the Euro.

  • good ole' Sweden

  • ''RACE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH CRIME.'' i agree but their religion does

  • why are they speaking German?

  • @SC1337: Because that's the language we speak in Sweden.

Or rather, this is clearly a German documentary featuring German immigrants to Sweden. I thought that would have been obvious though... ;)

  • @mieroth not obvious for me I'm american lol

  • @SC1337: LOL. Well I hope you realised we don't speak German in Sweden. :P

  • @mieroth haha not that stupid =)

  • @SC1337: You'd be surprised by how many people think it's a real possibility. :P

  • Swedes avoid wars, eliminating unnecessary military expenditure, saving Swedes economic resources & man-power for more internal economic growth.

Swedes avoiding getting ENTANGLED in foreign nations internal affairs, global conflicts & international power struggle for geo-political-economic DOMINATION, earns the SWEDES the global trust & safe haven for global investors to save their hard currency in Swedish banks, making Sweden richer than those who LOST CREDIBILITY to geo-military adventures.

  • And this doc brings more 3rd world immigrants into the country creating more ghettos and skyrocket the crime rates.

Dont make such documentaries about Finland please =)

  • I wouldn't say that Swedens immigration policies are "fixed". It's still a major issue. We are accepting to many people than we can take care off and we are placing all the immigrants at the same location and therfore creating ghettos such as Rosengård

  • Fascinating to see an UNBIASED video of political/social/economical issues in Sweden. Somewhat restores my faith in humanity. :)

  • You can't compare Sweden to USA, Sweden doesn't have illegal immigrants & the crimes from illegals. Arabs are more cultured & educated compare next to Meso-Americans.

  • @ScotteDio

Sadly,,,, Those who fail to be accountable for their own short comings & failures ALWAYS seem to seek solace in blaming anything & anyone under the sun.

    Scotty,

LIFE IS NOT ABOUT LEGAL or ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS.

Life is about ACCOUNTABILITY, avoiding fatal mistakes & working hard to produce WORTHY results, making your life a whole lot better than yesterday.

FYI: ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS are picking your Onions, Carrots, Cabbages,,, in 100 degree Arizona, Florida & California deserts.

  • @BahreNeGash The illegal aliens that don't pay their medical, but US tax payers do.

In mexico, they worse jobs for 11 times less what they make here. Florida has very little illegals, usually, Cubans call to get them deported. But, I rather have mexican employees than Cubans (Cubans hate to work).

  • @ScotteDio

While you seem to be OBSESSED with what Illegal immigrants gain from the system (if any), how about what illegal immigrants working under the shadow & CONTRIBUTING to the growth of the economy, while losing the BENEFITS of their hard work?

  • @BahreNeGash Because I am immigrant, did everything legal & became an American by choice, served this country proudly. I personally hate these illegal's crimewaves & hate crime: towards non-mexicans & blacks in Los Angeles County, just keep breeding by having 4 or 10 kids that just become burden to the state, women force work as sex-slaves at mexican bars, Azusa racial hate crimes, the shooting on Florence Ave., prison cartels & increase of street gangs.

  • @ScotteDio

    CONGRATULATIONS FOR,

    1. BECOMING IMMIGRANT & LEGALLY AMERICAN BY CHOICE.

    2. SERVING THE COUNTRY YOU BECOME LEGAL BY CHOICE.

    3. BENEFITING FROM THE COUNTRY YOU BECOME LEGAL BY CHOICE.

BUT, way before you immigrated, became LEGAL, SERVED & BENEFITED from the country of your choice, the MILLIONS of people you HATE,,, the Whites, Blacks, Browns, Reds, Yellows, Greens, Purples,,, became LEGAL, built & served the country of "your choice".

Therefore, "RACE" HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH CRIME.

  • @BahreNeGash I hate people who boo & insult the national anthem of the country that feed them. As a former Honor Guard, the national ensign & anthem means alot for me.

My parents came with visa, investing in this country & paying taxes to the US government.

Race? ..haha...not all Meso-Americans are the same race...haha...you're full stereotypes.

  • @ScotteDio

You sound like being more catholic than the pope.

But,,, WHO ARE THOSE,,,, "who boo & insult the national anthem of the country that feed them"?

What makes you think,,,, YOU ARE MORE AMERICAN THAN THE AMERICANS WHO BUILT AMERICA FOR 300yrs, BEFORE YOU LEFT URAGUAY FOR AMERICA?

Being a minor or NOT,,, You need to appricaite EVERY HUMAN RACE who made America the place of your dream.

    Anything else,,,

  • @BahreNeGash I am actually atheist.

Los Angeles in 1998, do your research about the booing anthem.

Uruguay killed the natives of Uruguay, only nation entire population immigrant background. Theres all immigrants from Italy, Poland, Armenia, Germany etc...blend in became just "Uruguayans".

I serviced the US & was part of greatest brotherhood in the US military.

  • @ScotteDio

Millions of Americans from ALL HUMAN RACES served the US before you left Uruguay & millions are still serving the US after you left the service.

Therefore, you NEED to LEARN TO RECOGNIZE, APPRECIATED, HONOR & RESPECT ALL HUMAN RACES who served the US.

FYI: THE BIGGER FISH EATS SMALL FISHES.

Therefore, European IMMIGRANTS exterminating NATIVE inhabitants in Uruguay is NO DIFFERENT in the history of the continent, AMERICA.

BTW: "Being more catholic than the pope" means PRETENDING.

  • @BahreNeGash You're making this about race. I never wrote anything about "race".

I don't appreciated who insult or support the national anthem where they live.

Therefore, all those European or Asian immigrants mesh into Uruguayan Society, while without making an issue out race being Uruguayan. So, you've an issue me being non-natives, bring-up my immigrant background. I work & pay taxes, if immigrant could make it without asking handout...why not someone born in the US?

  • @ScotteDio

    Doesn't Uruguay have NAVY?

I wonder why you left URUGUAY to become US NAVY?

  • @BahreNeGash Easy, my mother was living as investorin the USA, while I was raise in Uruguay by father, they got back to together, so I had no choice as a minor.

  • On top of making some of the best music ever Sweden knows how to run it's country!

  • Americans can out eat Swedes at least.

  • sweden is good but we are much better in norway

  • let US politicians watch this movie, bastards keep farting as they're number one.

  • they have a credit bubble brewing, though. loans get approved by sms. real estate prices are up in the sky. rubber will hit the road there, too, in the nearby future.

  • Bullshit. The Swedish salarys aren't to high. In Norway they are even higher and there are lots of young swedes working there.

  • @stalingbg: Those salaries are high to Swedes, not to Norwegians.

  • Sweden is awesome

  • So much wealth and yet this nation seems so incredibly BORING...

  • Ladies and gentlemen: I am a Muslim and have to admit one thing: Sweden is an intelligent country. This intelligent country has proven it is possible to have both a welfare state and a a free market capitalism simultaneously. Americans are foolish for thinking that a welfare state is a bad thing when it is both a moral and and intelligent thing. Britain should not copy America, it should copy Sweden which is the most intelligent country currently. Just remember who invented: Skype, Mysql, Linux

  • Props to Sweden. Are there any books on their political system and regulations? I'm very interested in reading more about this country's system and initiatives that allowed them to remain so economically viable while the rest of Europe suffers

  • @Israeldid9111 : I like your comment. Just one little thing: Linus Torvalds is Finnish.

  • @Israeldid9111

linux was developed by a Finn... Linus Torvalds. These things have nothing to do with a country's political/economic system. What are you babbling about?

  • @chica476 Correct me if I am wrong, but the maker of Linux is a Finn of Swedish descent?

  • @Israeldid9111: Sure, if you see Palestinians as Jordanians then I guess you can use that logic... Using most people's logic however Linus Torvalds isn't Swedish. //Swede.

  • "The midway between socialism and capitalism?...."

    What a bunch of crap.

  • Sweden is a beautiful place and so its people the bad thing is that a beer there cost 10 dollars

  • Thank you Journeyman for another interesting video. How sensible and civilized the Swedes are.

  • gött o va svensk!!!

  • My head spins when I see a country like Sweden prosper so much while in the same breath a child is dying of malnutrition somewhere in the world. Why such disparity?

  • @nedatronics You make it sound like it's Sweden's fault...

  • @bittercottoncandy well duh! isnt it?

  • @nedatronics Simple, is a cultural thing. I'm Latinamerica, and I had the opportunity to be in developed countries and live there for months. And I can see that the difference is organization. What you have for granted when you come from a developed country, in a developing country is a big deal; being organized is amazingly diffcult, if you will. Culture, education, mind setup = organization = development!!!

  • Swedes were smart to have done all those reforms 20 years ago. Had some countries in southern Europe done the same and probably they wouldn't be under so much pressure from speculators. But on the other hand there could be some dark clouds going their way: as far as I know swedish immigration policies aren't really that much successful and are tendent to creating ghettos, particularly amidst their muslim population.

  • @bittercottoncandy I totally agree

  • @bittercottoncandy another dark cloud is SAAB's bankruptcy, thousands will become unemployed.

  • @bittercottoncandy They need better integration policies.

  • @bittercottoncandy Yes. The immigrants fuck up our country. Then they make 10000000 babies and complain that they don't get enough money even tho they don't even have a job.

  • The reason why Sweden works is because it had a social welfare system BEFORE the financial crisis (Trying to make a welfare state in one is economic suicide) and because most of the wages in Sweden go to that social system, which in other countries wouldn't fly because of the scale and economic diversity of the population. The future problems for Sweden will be children growing up without parents but under state education, economic stability if unemployment rises, and social problems.

  • Americans, listen to the kind of words used here: "Reform, elastic pensions, private involvement, private pension, Saving, cutting taxes, private insurances (Not single-payer mind you) hard border laws, obligated intergration, increased police presence, reduction of state benifts, competitive economy." - If you didnt know better, you were listening to a Tea Party rally. And with Sweden's problems being education reform and immigration I dont know how you WOULDNT fit the pieces together.

  • The Swedes seem to demonstrate some attributes that I think we Amercians should emulate, namely, pragmatism and a committment to consensus buidling. It seems that Swedish society as a whole made necessary adjustments 20 years ago, and were willing to face harsh realities in a way that the political extremes here in American are incapable of doing.

  • Much disinfo here, i agree to some extent that our system is better than many other nations but our economy is under heavy pressure from extortionate taxation and welfare programs that suck much of our wages in our wallets. Sooner or later the system will crumble if unemployment increases and productive industrial jobs disappear. The state seldom uses money better than regular citizens does.

  • Why are some of the people speaking German?

  • @Sansachun I was wondering the same thing! Why German?

  • I live in Sweden (was born here) so I know, lets start here

-To many people (mostly German speaking) have good jobs in Sweden yet speak no Swedish

-The place that hires immigrants (24:07+) lets Muslims wear ikea curtains on their heads which does not help them integrate and is a waste of resources (fuck religion)

-When a person has no job the state helps them with money yet they waste money:

    A) on immigrants who have lived here over 3+

  • @akumie2 Are you complaining about the current state of Sweden?

  • @akumie2 -Muslims come to our country and complain we do not respect Islam, we need to have boy/girl separated in public bath, no end of year school graduation in church, no pork in school lunches, how Sweden and Swedes suck and their home country is so much better (yet they come here)...yet all they do is complain the government has not done enough threw lame hip hop music when instead they could have looked for jobs by maybe going to 50+ shops and giving them your CV

  • @akumie2 I do like how Immigrants in Rosengård complain that they can not find apartments outside of the city because Swedes build apartments for max 3 children (not 5+) and immigrants do not afford big houses

  • @akumie2 maybe Sweden should stop "importing" muslims then.. must Sweden integrate their misogynistic culture?? thought it was the other way around, they're the ones that must integrate and RESPECT swedish values and rules and Christian/atheist beliefs.

  • @akumie2 Heck if you don't like sweden, then leave! i will aswell...but not for the reasons you do, i just can't stand the politics, the attitude of the people, the culture, etc etc etc...sweden's just so fucking boring and nothing's gonna change, might aswell leave the hell hole :)

  • @MrNegativeMrPositive I agree Sweden is very boring

Sure I have friends and sometimes we go to nightclubs and the likes but overall it is really boring but maybe because I live in Skåne

I say hi to strangers and they look at me weird or say hi in a very low voice and walk fast away, all the unique shops in Malmö have gone and are replaced by shopping malls that sell the same thing as any other city, the only

  • @akumie2 big things down here is Kiviksmarknad (fun to see once or twice, offers nothing new each year) and Malmöfestivalen (90% same stuff every year, maybe 1 good band/year with luck)

I would not mind moving to places like London but because its expensive, I really have no university degree, making friends in a new city is hard and the likes I do not know

  • @akumie2 Hey man stop all this negative talk. Surely Sweden can't be that bad, this is the country that gave the world ABBA, IKEA, Volvo, Saab and the smorgasbord among many other things. I have met a few Swedes here in Australia and they all seem nice, friendly people. Also Stockholm looks like a nice place, I wouldn't mind visiting there sometime. Lighten up and look at the positive side of your great country and be thankful that you weren't born in some third world shithole.

  • @ornitorrinco0 Well people here are nice and all but not even 50% as social asSpain where I lived as a kid

Not the worst country maybe but still

  • @ornitorrinco01 and the meatballs :) love'em.

  • @akumie2 hi! just curious.. what do you mean with "the likes"? u wrote it two times, so that got me curious.

  • @akumie2 I live in stockholm, i have friends outside of stockholm..my friends are moving from sweden after they are done studying....so i'm not alone on that point :P

  • Comment removed

  • @MrNegativeMrPositive haha atleast you have people to move with

  • @akumie2 haha not really! :P i'm going to france, my buddies are going to china, korea and japan >.< so we're a bit split up ^^

  • @MrNegativeMrPositive Moving all alone to a new country, yikes

  • @akumie2 Meh it's worth it :P meeting up with the rest after about 5 years time :P

  • @MrNegativeMrPositiveThats if you even want to go back to Sweden in 5 years

  • @akumie2 Nah i'm not going back ^^ we're meeting up in asia ;) since one of them studied there last year he is going back there and staying and my other friend is going over there to study and he's staying aswell :P ...so the only thing left in sweden is pretty much my family :P but i can always visit during christmas ;)

  • @MrNegativeMrPositive I am still amazed you would move to a new country all alone, if you do not have university degree it would be even harder

  • @akumie2 Haha yeah :P i don't even have an education at the moment, gonna start studying next year and it's a class in welding, so i'm pretty much set for life after 2 years of studyig, because welding can get you a job anywhere in the world these days ;) It will be an experience to live alone in a new country :P

  • @MrNegativeMrPositive welding LOL, do you even speak french?

  • @akumie2 Nope, but i learn languages pretty fast, i learned english from basic english that i learned for 1 year in the swedish educational system and the rest was from listening to americans and british people speak :P

  • @MrNegativeMrPositive For me if I like music, tv shows... in a language learning is not that hard

Already speak 3.5 languages :), hehe well yeah still amazed someone would go all alone to a new country and after they move learn the language

  • @akumie2 Haha yeah it's pretty much the same, i listen to folk music everyday, so i get to hear like 6 different languages a day ^^ + it's a lot easier to learn a language by living in a place, you have to adapt to "survive" there so that's what your brain does, it starts to memorize things in that language and pretty much starts translating for ya :P it's tougher, but you become fluent a lot faster :P

  • @MrNegativeMrPositive True but then I lived 6 month in France with my family when I was 15 and did not really like it

    Spain is better xd

  • so, basically humanity has to work 365 days 24/7. what have we become? robots? fuck that shit.

  • @Valdris1987 Why did you even watch this? If that's all you've taken from this film, I really despair.

  • @Valdris1987 I agree, Sweden is no better off because they have found a way for everyone to work a lot.

I assume you are familiar with Zeitgeist?

  • @Valdris1987 Actually, I'll bet you they work in shifts. :) Just like the ER is open 24/7.

  • Stefan Fölster is not speaking swedish

  • @customlegokarl ...so?

  • HA GO SWEDEN
