Can't wait for the musical movie version to come out. If anyone did not know its coming out December 7, 2012. Look it up on IMDB or wiki (for more info).
When I first saw this scene I was laughing hysterically cuz they had this like angel music at the end u could say angel music, and he had like this giant smile on his face and the other dude just commited suicide so I'm like "Dam he happy that hes dead" haaaaaaaa
@napolmorino it's not underrated- the story is an all time classic novel. Victor Hugo wrote it, I believe- and he was a national treasure to france. They actually admire him more than Jerry Lewis.
@7mikethebike No, I didn't think the story is underrated. I think this movie is underrated. It has, from my point of view, one of the best performances ever. And yet there very few people who have watched this movie.
@napolmorino well, here are a few points i noticed on why it's underrated:
maybe because they left out loads of things...no eponine perhaps? and some are out of character..like valjean (in this video he was happy javert committed suicide? he never would have done that), oh and marius (he was never really into Les Amis de l'ABC, he just knows where they stand was right)...
i honestly skipped to the june rebellion parts when I found out eponine wasn't in here..xD
@AutumnMalfoy I don't think that Valjean was happy persay at Javert's death, More that he was happy at the prospect that he was now free and didn't have to run anymore, afraid that Javert was always behind him
@novus0verum right, looking back at it, my wordings sounded stupid! xD I didn't really mean that he was happy on his death, just that I know Valjean would be glad that he no longer has to run, but in exchange for another one's life no matter whose it may be, I know he'd still blame himself that Javert committed suicide.. So I was kinda hoping he'd save his joy after he sees Cosette again, knowing that they wouldn't worry about anything anymore.
I did not care for this film version of the story. It only captured about 1/8th of the novel, and this scene in particular should happen much differently. I realize that every adaptation has to change things by necessity, but there have been other film versions that did it better than this one.

What is it with Australians doing Javert. Rush, Phillip Quast, and now Rusty. Weird.

@rhudsonrte66 Aussies are more, how shall we say it.... upside down in the head making them natural Javerts?

@DeathtoRaiden1 I Don't Know... I Just Found the Story Dull But I Really LIke How They Portrayed Javert's Character Perfectly

I can't believe that omitted Eponine in this movie, good thing that movie adaptation of the musical is going to include her!

I didn't like this film. Rush is great, but too many missed details and a "That's it?" ending ruined it.

It's wonderful how he walks at the end, feeling for the first time that he is now really free.
Best performance for Liam Neeson!

@Dodita993 That scene is so powerful, you can actually breath the air he breathes, the air of freedom.

@mathsprofessional He isn't. Wish he was though. It is the musical version, so they chose someone with a stellar singing voice.

The entire story is dominated by people treating one another mercilessly. How can any civilization exist like that?
