You are right about the Queen though. God save her. She has brought some continuity, dignity, and impartiality to our nation and can trace her history back more than 500 years. Again, the history thing is not something you yanks really do, is it? As far as yanks in europe goes, we don't want your bases on our soil. You're right, I do have a problem with elections. They're nothing but a charade to con the public into thinking that they're participating in 'democracy'. Utter nonsense. Doesn't seem to do you yanks much good. After you've finished patting yourselves on the back about voting, some of you actually wake up and realise that it means nothing and has achieved nothing. Further to my empire comment, the sun did set on the british empire, we came to terms with it, dealt with the shameful legacy of colonialism and now operate, without hubris, as equals with all our former colonies as Commonwealth partners. These are important lessons of history that america is hellbent on not learning. Stupid. Take Afghanistan. The lessons are all there yet you yanks will lose, come home, and wonder what went wrong!!

Electing 'who you want' ultimately means nothing. You yanks regularly elect who you want (or who you don't want in the case of Shrub!) and it never achieves anything except for their corporate paymasters. I like Obama but he'll get zilch done because the SYSTEM itself is corrupted from the top down. It won't allow any significant change. 50 million americans without healthcare? I would like to also propose that since the Republicans who elected Mr. Bush insisted on this war dispite all the evidence that a special tax be imposed. Since I was against the war and voted my desire, why should I be required to pay for it.
