Very good! I think all guitar players(eletric, acoustic and classic) should pay more atention to that bass techinique. Players like Frank Gambale, Mikael Akerfedt from Opeth, Paul Masvidal, Petrucci and others Fusion players do it very good. It sounds like you have a band with you. Very good to write music without needing to play piano
I have a question. I saw that he uses only 2 fingers for melody, and a lot of other guitar players do the same, but some of them use all four for the melody. Does it have some difference at the end, will it do wrong to force 2 finger meloding. THank you:D
make sure your palm isnt touching strings.. for acoustics you could put your strumming hands forearm on edge of the acoustics body and like, hover your hand over the strings.. thats how classical acoustic guitarists do it i think.. idk. its something you pick up over time dude.. practice makes perfect after all^^

Actually you should play with two (+thumb) fingers, but!... if it's better for you to use all fingers i think you can.
(btw sorry for my english, it's too long sentence :)))

@sourcehacker actually it's much better to rest your palm on the strings - it helps keep the bass from overpowering the melody.

practise practise and practise

where are your strings muted? on your left or right hand? Can you define where you got stuck?

the secret is keep practising, do not idle, and in time you'll notice muting gradually disappears...
