    If I were to give any further advice, I'd just say

    1. exaggerate dynamics especially soft places

    2. more nuance, subtlety and variation in sound will always add to the maturity of your playing

    In response to your last subtitled question, Yes, I think you should vary the spaces between your entrances.

  • Interestingly, my conductor told me today that he prefers a stricter interpretation of the pacing. (Although he says he'll defer to my decision where I'm all by myself.) He says the Mengelberg recording is very square, and Strauss was known to have liked it that way.
