The peoples of Ireland was asked to voice their opinion of the treaty: they weren't forced to vote yes. if they would have voted no again, the treaty would've been thrashed, and the whole ratification process had ended. The Lisbon Treaty will make the EU more democratic by moving more power away from the Commission, to the ELECTED MEPs of the European Parliament, which will now legislate on 95% of EU law. And a peoples initiative will be introduced with the treaty.

Thanks to European Cooperation on this level we now have projects like the Airbus A380/ The Large Hadron Collider/ ITER Fusion Reactor / Galileo Navigation / European Space Agency/ One common currency that allows for easy travel and a MUCH more stable economy. Do you understand; The British pound has been plummeting in the last year. The economy of Iceland was shambled. All because of there "great" independence.
