  • 3:40 he plays Four. Very interesting.

  • the same tone

  • incredibly hard song Abmaj7, D7 Gm7, Fm7 Bb7, Ebmaj D7b9, G-7, C/E, Fmaj7, Gbm7b7, Bm7alt, Em7, Am7 D7, Gmaj7, Cm7, Dbdim, Bbmaj7, Ebmaj7, Em7b5, A7alt, Dm7, Db7, Cm7 F7, Bbmaj7, Ebmaj7

how to improvise over those changes like that? incredible...

  • @trappedsoul7 Well, the tune is in Bb, but starts on Abmaj, a bVIImaj7 chord, which is very intersting. But from the melody it is clearly a lydian sound.

The next chords are typical: III7, vi, ii/IV, V/IV, IV, III7 vi (D7 Gm Fm Bb7 Eb D7 Gm)

Things change up a bit at the C/E chord, but still it's just a slight modulation to F major, V to I (C to F)

    Now there's a more dramatic shift to Gmajor: vii III7 vi ii V I (F#m7b5 B7 Em Am D7 G)

The last section has all typical chords in Bb.

  • @25silverwater nice analysis! but can you solo over it? i can't ;)

a few thoughts on your take / why i think it's hard to play

    - III7 is not really a typical sound, don't you think? i'd say here its origin is g harmonic minor (D7 g)

    - ii/IV, V/IV, IV, III7 happens in only two bars!

    - F major for only two bars!

    - because of the iim7b5 - V7alt (in e minor), you can't really play Gmajor here, can you.

    - The last section also features a iim7b5/iii, V7alt/iii over which Bb major won't work.

  • Beautiful!
