Hi what is the sound at the very end of the video..sounds like a huge loss of boost or the waste gate opening ? as the top speed drops off...there is a photo on the net with a smart 450 with a front spoiler mounted below the front lights,this may help the 120bhp rechipped 450's..:)

I don't really get the point of a car like this in the US. In parts of Europe I could see it making sense, but u can only carry 2 people, the front compartment is puny, the car itself is 5 feet long and weighs 1600lbs, but the avg. car here weighs 3,500-4,000+/- 500lbs and is on avg. 15+/- 2 ft long...so in a crash you'd be fucked. Also at anywhere above 160mph or so the car would flip or roll EXTREMELY easily. Plus with snow, you might as well be driving a rocket with 1 fin lol, I dont get it.

If this car had the possibility to go faster safely, they would have done it! The car will flip at that speed! it is to instable to go that fast. My son has a Smart... He only drives it 120 kmh max!

I think it is a good city car! In crash tests it has also done well! But, Sure in a head on crash with a much heavier car. the energy transfer to the Smart outrageous!

I'm sorry, but making a Brabus version of a motorized shopping cart isn't cool.

I got passed by one of these the other day when I was doing 70mph, and I felt the same feeling of sympathy/shame for the driver as I do when someone does the "loser flyby" after a lost drag.

I mean, you can get a Sentra SE-R spec V for the same $20k and have 200hp, four doors, a big boot and way more fun.

I'd only consider a smartcar if it got at least 60mpg. 44 is pathetic for such a tiny car. :/

I don't doubt that this Brabus Smart does 220 kn/h. I bet there are a few out there with motorcycle engines in them that can go a lot faster.

Question is, how fast do you really want to go in a smart car? It's not so much the crash worthiness of the car. If he hit the ditch with that car, it'd just roll like a ball till it stopped. It's the high center of gravity and super short wheelbase that would make high speed handling scary.

It'd still be a hoot to drive though.

A 699cc benzine has topspeed of 140km/h

A 599cc and 699cc both with turbo also has topspeeds of 140km/h!

They have speedlimits for EURO safety.

The benzine engines in Brabus can reach 160km/h.

A 799cc CDI diesel has topspeed of 140km/h

A 799cc CDI Brabus has topspeed of 160km/h
