For example - I have had times in my life when I knew that the Lord was doing a work in my life, but wasn't sure how it was going to work out in the end. In praying to Him - He has slowly revealed things to me that have come to pass over time. Some sooner than others, and some yet on down the line still. Faith is a tough thing, but Faith in Christ is the best thing there is.

@Inkerharter we are blessed with choice, meaning god can test us and it is up to us to choose. If god could predict our choice we wouldnt have a choice... the whole bible is based on the fact that we have a choice. this means god cannot predict our choice, allknowing is not the same as beeing an oracle. this is the matrix and god cant see past the choices we havent made... he can only test us and then the choice is ours.

1) Be three separate, infinitely powerful beings, but at the same time, only one
2) Turn into a 100% human being, born of a virgin, while still being 100% deity (even though the requirement of being human means being 0% deity)

The thing is, the fact that we even TRY to have a moral code that we adhere to, a code of conduct that we worry over and fret about, beyond just doing what we do, makes humans pretty well unique in the world. We can actually imagine our possible actions and plot all kinds of evil shit, and still not do them because we feel they'd be wrong. But that gets turned around by believers as "inherently sinful", when we're actually inherently MORAL!

@aisha8887 Study US Government before you talk about it. First Amendment gives us 5 freedoms (Religion, Assembly, Speech, Petition, and Press). Also worth noting what the founding fathers intended on the new country, that as long as we don't hurt others through force or fraud, we are free to individual liberty.
Freedom of Religion means you can believe in whatever you choose. Freedom of Speech means you can say/write anything as long as it doesn't impose on other, by force or fraud.

nope, God created man as a test of faith. Whomever gives God the glory and not satan goes to heaven or vice versa. She is correct in the fact that we are sinful to begin with but if you allow satan to control your salvation then you are worshiping him its just simple.

It's not pointless at all. It is an accurate description of the nature of evil, and it's also a warning to not fall for the hard and fast rules of christianity, which are trite and simplistic. A group of well-intentioned christians can commit the most brutal acts of evil imaginable. The problem with following ancient religious texts for moral guidance is that they are flawed and limited, and do not necessarily make followers refrain from evil themselves (or may encourage it.

Analysis paralysis. Our true place is to worship God. To whom much is given, much is required. Are you healthy, breathing, do you have access to clean water, abundant food ? Then do more with your 'vapor' of a life here (this is not our true home - listen to NDE's accounts. So we can focus on staying broken or we can focus on the Kingdom, love and eternity ? Is your view of love, compassion, mercy, and gratitude stagnant? Life more abundant is knowing God intimately which is not religion.

I agree with you totally, and it's funny, because what you said here is exactly what I'm always saying if I end up in a discussion about God. I always say: I don't believe in God, but if there would be one, it would mean he lets all the misery and unfairness in this world happen. If that's how God is, I don't even want to believe in him. Religious people would say: that's how he wants it, or: he can't help it, he can't force people to chose good. But: he 'created' us! So he made us this way

Sorry, I'm a bit disappointed here.
Not with your arguments and counterarguments themselves. But through it all I get a sense that you are really trying to "give it to them theists." As in "I can beat their arguments with my counterarguments" or "I can get them stymied with my arguments."
It becomes this "us vs. them" battle, rather than a search for truth. Ego steps in. This is sad.

for why we see the suffering we do. This is not God's fault though - and yes, Adam and Even did make the choice to go against God's will and become sinful, but if that is what has happened - and as you know this is how I believe - what other explanation can you give for it? I think that is the point that your video questioner was trying to get to. There is no other explanation for the suffering we see in both humans and animals. It might seem messed up, but it's the truth - not some story.

He wasn't wise enough to make a world without suffering, and even decided to punish us for doing "wrong" before we even knew what good and evil was? Even if he had messed up, he could actually be good and forgive, but does he? Noooooo! He instead makes up a nice torture chamber in his basement to screw with sinners! And BTW - He will forgive you of sin, if you are willing to understand that you are a sinner who needs a Savior. Accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, truly purpose change in your heart for that which is sin, and repent of it. Be free in Christ, and you will be blown away by God's love for you.

How could they do any bad if they supposedly weren't capable of knowing what was good and what wasn't? As far as i've seen, your god is a perverted bully that needed a bunch of "inferior" beings to worship him (ego?), and if they don't, he will punish them. That's not love, it's psychological blackmail.

How do you know this primitive fairytale book is the word of a god when It has human editors? Remember: Extraordinary claims demand extraordinary evidence to be credible. It's hard to believe this bullshit when the guy doesn't even show up or provide conclusive proof for his existence.

@hellhammerz666 The Bible cannot be proven by Science. It's a spiritual faith that one lives by in putting your faith in Jesus Christ. It cannot be intellectualized until you come to faith first. Once you do that though - you will be blown away as you begin to read and learn. You'll see that which you were blind to before. It's truly amazing.
To answer this more specifically though - the 40 authors of the 66 books were all inspired by God Himself.

Reading the bible just enforced my atheism. The blatant apology to human brutality and perversion isn't precisely what would get me to follow a god. Even if some parts seem pretty and even contain good teachings, most of it is pretty fucked up.

@hellhammerz666 The greatest part of believing that which you cannot see is then seeing it come to life in your life. For example - I have had times in my life when I knew that the Lord was doing a work in my life, but wasn't sure how it was going to work out in the end. In praying to Him - He has slowly revealed things to me that have come to pass over time. Some sooner than others, and some yet on down the line still. Faith is a tough thing, but Faith in Christ is the best thing there is.

We are to count tries and tribulations as a blessing - not a cursing. Jesus suffered the ultimate sacrifice for all. Now - if the master was to suffer - are we greater than our master? We live in a fallen world that has been corrupted by sin, and because of this - we see and endure though crazy stuff - I know, but there will be a day...

And what is a physical body for an almighty god? It all gets even worse when the guy didn't even stay fucking dead, but went back to life a few days after like nothing happened. It's not a sacrifice, its a scam that only becomes worse when it's presented as the only way to get saved from another made up idea.

He is the only mediator between God and man - the man Christ Jesus. Look - I didn't make the rules. I don't know why things had to happen the way they did. Once again, why is it so hard for him to simply forgive sinners in a true act of love instead of making up this whole rigged game of trials? Picture a hamster pet, whose master has chosen to deliberately increase it's wheel's speed excessively to get him tired. That's what your god does with all these trials instead of a much more practical and loving forgiveness.

Now - Jesus comes on the scene and says "I have not abolished the law, but perfected it". What to know what the only 2 commandments of the New Testament are? Love God, and love your neighbor as yourself. In that - the whole Old Testament law is made perfect. I do understand what you are saying though - and yes - these were some of my concerns too...

@hellhammerz666 But if you think about it, I think what you will see is that God knows best what is good for us, and what is not good for us. It sounds ridged, but really - it's not. It gives you the ability to live in a manner that God has asked man to live, and to receive forgiveness from Jesus Christ when we come to that place of knowing we have sinned. Will never make you perfect in this life, but it will give you eternal life in the end. For me - that's worth it, and I blow it every day
