  • This is good. Your cool. Thanks.

  • It never ceases to amaze me how something can be so good (In this case, Zaranyzerak's in depth, informative, entertaining review), yet there are those out there who completely miss the point, don't appreciate it and feel the need to publicly take a dump on it so that everyone can notice them. Why not just click dislike like the others in the minority did, then move on to these much better reviews that exist. In my opinion, Zaranyzerak's multi part review of this set is the best review out there.

  • And your five parts come to like, what, an hour? Who wants to listen to you ramble on for an hour? "HERE'S THE INTRO TO THE SHOW! BECAUSE I THINK IT'S COOL!" You can be like Michael Bay and provide all the bloat crap that's not necessary, or, you can cut out all the fat and provide something that's informative AND entertaining. Sorry, man, but the fact that this was 5 parts doesn't help you either.

  • @mzupeman If I was just "rambling" then you might have a valid point. I'm not. Everything I say is researched, or anecdotal, or otherwise adds something of interest for the viewer. If the material I fill those 5 parts with was "bloat crap" you might also have a valid point. It isn't. Everything I talk about/show in each part is relevant, topical, and of interest to fans of the material. If I had no more than a dozen views on each part, you might again have a valid point.

  • @mzupeman My thousands of subscribers like my style just fine, and enjoy the fact that i give MORE than just a simple overview of a product. Did you watch all 5 parts? You don't KNOW if the information I provide is worthless unless you've actually WATCHED, which you clearly haven't as you're still only going on about the content of Part 1 as if that's all there is. You have no clue if the content of the other 4 parts is informative/entertaining or not, as you haven't even looked.

  • @mzupeman Many others LIKE the fact that I go so in-depth and took 5 parts to cover this topic properly. Just read the comments. I go into the history of the series, provide background information that goes far more in depth than other reviewers, AND have fun and entertain the viewer along the way. If you can't be bothered to actually WATCH the review before spouting insults then your criticism is unfounded and invalid. You can't criticize what you haven't watched.

  • @mzupeman In short, you're completely wrong about me. Accept it and move on. Or watch, learn, realize you've been an ass for no reason, and apologize.

  • FYI, this is a 5 PART REVIEW, folks. So yes, this part only covers the packaging. Here's what's covered in the other 4 parts, which can be found in the video responses:

Part 2 - The History of Real Ghostbusters on Home Video

Part 3 - An In-Depth Look at The Complete Collection

Part 4 - Some Info for anal-Retentive Completists Like Me

Part 5 - The Epic Conclusion (all About the Bonus Disc)

Hmm...last I checked that goes FAR more in-depth than DVD Talk. :P Think before criticizing, people.

  • Btw, DVDTalk had a way more in-depth review than this. This is ntohing more than a look at the packaging. This wasn't even a review.

  • @mzupeman This is Part 1 of FIVE. Of course this part only covers the packaging, it's only the first part. of FIVE. 5 parts. Not 1. Look at the other four parts before blowing off my entire, extremely in-depth review of every aspect of this set. As for the beginning, that was me having some fun at the expense of long time viewers who had been waiting for those reviews. It's called showmanship, and showing appreciation for those who have been around a while. In short, don't be a dick.

  • @mzupeman And good for DVDTalk. This isn't DVDTalk. This is the Multimedia Chronicles. They have their style, I have mine. Which you can't even be bothered to make an effort to actually watch all the way through before jumping to conclusions. I didn't get to where I am today by doing shitty reviews that don't cover anything of interest. Try to think outside the box a bit. Not all reviewers use the same tired, dull, standardized format. Some of us actually like to have fun.

  • Jesus christ... over 4 minutes just to get to the FREAKING POINT?! 4 minutes of saying all the things you WEREN'T going to review? This is my first video of yours, and it's also going to be my last. Adios.

  • i live in the uk and i got the real ghostbusteers on dvd buyed it from the internet i think its ebay or something like it and yes you do earn the real ghostbusters foryourself i like the slimer episodes aswell best real ghostbusters dvd boxset i know

  • @MrInhibitor The link is on my main channel page, my website and at the end of most of my videos. I hold the chats on Stickam, which is a web chat site. I used to do it on Fridays, now it's a bit more random due to my work schedule. I always announce when there will be a chat on Twitter and my Facebook Fan Page (also listed on my main channel page).

  • Brother? and your life?

  • @greivindexter If that's a question, I have no idea what you're asking.

  • @Zaranyzerak, ha ha ha ok. no problem. regards.

  • This guy rocks.

  • Would say The Dark Knight is one of the best live action Batman movies?

  • @Zaranyzerak this is fricking awesome! we dont got this in the uk...grr we only got the first season on release, is this general release in USA or special order??

  • why do you think Batman Mask of Phantasm is better than the dark knight? i read critics liked Batman Mask of Phantasm than Batman Forever, but i liked both.

  • @mew10521 I liked both as well. But Mask of the Phantasm was much truer to the comics than Dark Knight.

  • thumbnails ruin all the fun

  • hey z ansome set that you gotXD!!!! oh and whats your favourite ep from the real ghostbusters mine was when they needed to go into kids dreams to hunt down the boogie man and the first ep was ansome to

  • will you review Animaniacs vol 1

  • Comment removed

  • Okay you've sold it to me!!!!

  • You should get around to doing some of the things from the beginning.

  • THANK YOU!!! the dark knight is NOT the best movie ever!!!!

  • @awesomesauce1030 it's still a 5 star spectacular movie

  • I been confused with the syndicated and Saturday morning Real Ghost Busters, It was Janine appearance.

  • what about the ghostbuster cartoon series tha had the ape as a member?

  • @markantonymcwhorter That was Filmation's Ghostbusters, which was based on the live action saturday morning show from 1975. I have that one too.

  • @Zaranyzerak I had no doubt about it!

  • I remember Exosquad was never a big fan, probably watch a few episodes, but i think it used to come right after X-men if i can remember on Saturday mornings

  • Dude, thanks to your review, I ordered my own Ghostbusters Complete Collection. I can't wait to get it. I got a good deal though and it's in a good condition.

  • that ghostbuster tin is insane i have never seen that until now

  • Heard the other day that Ghostbusters III is going to be released in May 2011. That's perfect for me, long awaited sequel to my favorite movie, a few weeks before High School Graduation. That means I know what will be my first midnight showing the night before school

  • I havent heard anything

but I sure hope ghostbusters 3 is going to be made

  • Your TDK review is sooooooo anticipated!

    I can't wait for it!

  • You are strangly....cool. I like you, stick around !

  • Seems like you're a Red Dwarf Fan, Well then you'll be happy to know that a new series has just been confirmed :)

  • I just heard the new this weekend! Can't wait! :)

  • Yeah, Apparently it's Series Ten instead, and hopefully it will Bridge the gap between Series 8 and the very Blade Runner-esque Back to Earth

[Speaking of Blade Runner, I really want to see it, I actually should own it by now, I bought the 5 Disc edition of eBay, But there's a postal strike in my area and it's been 3 weeks and I still haven't received it yet :( ]

  • @Zaranyzerak

what with some of the lop holes in the ghostbusters cartoon storeyline. I don't remember seeing them catch Poso partner from partners in slime I don't recall seeing them capture that spider legs ghost from the ransome of green spud episode either. I think swifter may have been redisgned. I know they had to rewrite some episode because the censor were stupid.

  • @Zaranyzerak

Like the Necornomic that appeared in the episode the collect call of Katlu was originally supposed to be in the halloween door episode. But some christian nut jobs our something on the censoring board told them they couldn't have it in because they thought it was a real book and rteligious parents would sue them. They also had some nut jobs back in the 1950 our 1960's that thought gilligan island was real.

  • please give us the Howard the duck review or at least when you'll have it posted

  • It's on the to-do list, just got a few other things I want to do first.

  • i cant take my eyes off those corroded chairs

  • They're not corroded, it's just the pattern. They're actually almost brand new.

  • Janine was a Ghostbuster? I take back everything I said about her. Except that she looks like a human form of Roz in the GB 1 and 2.

  • Can u do the dark knight review

  • Awesome reviews man. Keep'em coming dude. Also, could you do the watchman on blue-ray review ?..if you have that movie on blu - ray.

Thanks, looking forward for more of your Box set reviews and movies on blu - ray reviews.

  • i agree withe the batman part

  • ghostbusters!!!!!!! YEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • sweet review and your right dark knight is realy over rateed

  • no way dark knight is not overrated i liked it because i liked it not because everyone elce did .....but it does pay to agree..... christian bale want that good but heathleager ruled!! not because hes dead. i love the atmospere....

  • what do you think the best batman movie is. Thax! GREAT Vids

  • Are you going to get both 2 disc edition of watchmen and the ultimate edition? (which comes out in december) Because they both have different extras.

  • Yep!

  • Mask of the Phantasm is awesome! Do you have all 4 seasons of Batman the Animated Series? Also have you ever seen any episodes of Megas XLR? If not you should find some episodes on the web, another example of a cartoon canceled too soon.

  • When I get my copy of Watchmen that I pre-ordered at FYE, I'm reviewing it.

  • Does anyone rememver the Ghostbusters cartoon with the gorilla and talking car?

  • Yep! That one was based on the old Ghost Busters show from the mid-70's, both by Filmation. Columbia almost got sued by Filmation fo using the name, but they came to an arrangement. That's why this one was called The REAL Ghostbusters - to distinguish it from the other cartoon, which came out the same year.

  • Zaranyzerak all your vids are so awesome you have a lot of dvds at your place..

  • dude i love u reviews

  • Dark Knight had the best Joker you have to admitt,Howard the Duck film from the 80's was great and brings back memories I have not gotten it yet but plan on real soon.

  • ill have to pick that up

  • i will call mulder and scully but um i guess gosthbusters would have been my second choice

  • I totally agree with you on the best batman movie!

  • Thanks for bringing up Exosquad, I forgot the tittle for cartoon and finally I know it now.

I got also a other question about a other cartoon. About a team who hunts monsters and deamons. Most of the team got a robotsuit that comes out of their backpacks and one guy who is a werewolf, do you know which cartoon i mean?

  • AWESOME job on the drum edit!!

  • Thanks! That took a fair amount of tweaking to get right... Glad someone noticed! :)

  • Great video, you`re hilariously funny and entertaining to watch. Keep em coming man,

  • that set is awesome!.

  • I think I'm going to have to buy these. ;)

  • hay z man when is part2

  • Thats weird I posted a real Ghostbusters video a few weeks back.

  • Great minds think alike, my friend! Though as I'm sure you know, I've been meaning to do this one for a while (basically since I first dreamed of ordering the set...hehehe)

  • Hah I know what you mean! Funny that we came to the same conclusion about the same time! You can only get the large box set as a US import here in the UK.

  • i would love to buy that complete ghost busters collection thing cos i loved the ghostbuster movie it was so funny

  • You are mistaken. There were no series 7 or 8 of Red Dwarf. There was a series of the same name which had most of the cast of Red Dwarf, but it involved a female lead who had none of the gentleness and kindness shown by the character of the same name in Red Dwarf.

Why does the ghost in the intro walk around stuff? It's a ghost. It walks Through stuff. That's what ghosts do.

  • Ooooh, I won't take the Red Dwarf bait, but as for the ghost...good question! The only thing I can think of is there are a LOT of "ghosts" in the show that actually do have a physical presence, so perhaps it's one of those.

  • Oh go on try the tasty tasty bait. Mmmm.... maggoty.

I'm not a troll, I'm just disappointed with the Kochanski casting to the extent that I have to say something when the topic comes up. I totally understood the appeal of the original cos of her being sweet and friendly, so Kochanski 2's character should've been the same.

  • Hahaha! Oh no worries, I didn't think you were trolling. I'll gladly get into it whenever I get around to doing my Red Dwarf DVD reviews (which I do plan to do at some point, just haven't quite decided when yet). I have quite a few things to say on the subject of the latter years of the series, good and bad...muwhahaha!

  • Great video as always. Question, is this a limited time offer deal from Time-Life?

  • Not a limited time thing as far as I'm aware. They still offer sets that came out several years ago, so I don;'t see this one disappearing any time soon (especially given how well it appears to be doing). If you mean with regards to only being available through THEM, then yes I suspect that will be only for a limited time. That's what they've done with their other sets in the past. So I expect we'll see it in stores at some point, just no idea when yet.

  • Value for money incarnate. ;-)

  • Great just great

  • Sweet!!!

  • LOVE this review, BUT i think it would have been cooler with your shirt UNBUTTONED!!!

  • Thanks for the update, wow this brings back a lot of memories!

  • TDK was way better then Mask of the Phantism. I would really like to know why you said that.

  • Because....I don't think Dark Knight WAS better than Mask of the Phantasm? The short version is, Phantasm was MUCH more faithful to the characters and origins of the comics. Dark Knight, while a highly entertaining film with ELEMENTS of the comics, is far from being a faithful adaptation - it's a re-interpretation and re-imagining. I go for faithful to the source over re-imagining every time. And in that respect, Phantasm wins hands down.

  • BOOOO BOOOO!

You used the word 're-imagining', and you hate that! lol...

It kind of "shocked" me too when you said "How you think "TDK" is not the best movie."

HOWEVER, then I saw you come up with an animated movie I only know the cover of.

SO, can you honestly say that you don't think "TDK" is the best "REAL" film either?

I'm not going to judge you if not, I'm not like some "TDK"-fanatic.

Despite all the hype, going in disappointed by (now loving) "Begins", I was overly impressed by "TDK".

  • If Red Dwarf can do it, firefly can do it

  • We can only hope!

  • Love the review man.Very cool as usual.I just wanted to ask, are you planning on picking up X-Men The Animated Series when it comes out on Tuesday and if so can we expect a review of it?

  • Thanks! I'll be grabbing X-Men for sure, but not on release day due to rent this pay. But next payday for sure!

  • Oh, seriously, it's finally coming out officially?

I was thinking back somewhere in the last days that Sean was ranting on that it STILL hasn't been released yet.

Especially that they had the great opportunities to release it while the films were coming out.

Which I totally agree on, there is just no logic at all there...

But I was thinking, now they can get a similar opportunity promoting it with Wolverine's film.

Even though it's about just him, but OK.

I'm going to see it tomorrow! :)

  • @ 1 minute in I'm saying:

"yeah yeah yeah, get to the real ghostbusters set damnit!"

  • LOL! Well, not EVERYONE knows what I'm doing as far in advance as you, ya know! :P

  • mmmm slurpee =)

  • Thats what I saw the 4 minute promo and yes they did show it on HBO..I remember!!!!

  • Ahh! Well, prior to the DVD release it hadn't been seen before...

  • Sneaky? The thumbnail kind of gave it away ZMan. For shame. :P

Great stuff anyway, still a huge fan of yours. :)

  • Yeah, damn thumbnail... BUT! In my defense, it COULD have been just another one of those ones I ALMOST started reviewing at the start... ;)

  • Nope, it was always going to be about the real GB...always! :P

  • Damn,that set is epic.

  • what drink was that and was it from starbucks and are you gonna review it lol

love everything about ghostbusters cant wait for the game. and that is the best dvd box set case i have ever seen, wish others put more effort into theres

  • Very nice review.

Almost makes me want to get it, even though I'm not thát familiar with the cartoon.

I think it barely showed here in The Netherlands like about 10-15 years ago.

I know the movies played more, so I know those better.

I'm kind of curious; how do you like those compared to the series?

I remember enjoying the films, even though it's been many years.

  • I LOVE the movies (the first one especially), which is the main reason I love the show so much. While obviously being more "kid-friendly" than certain aspects of the movies, the show was a pretty decent continuation of the story - and most importantly, managed to maintain the balance between horror and comedy that made the films work so well. Despite the different character designs, the CHARACTERS themselves were quite faithful to the movie. And it really picked up where the movie left off.

  • Ah cool.

I thought, for a while, that actually the movies spawned from the cartoon.

Since you love the movies, are you going to buy them on BD or something?

I think at least one of them is out on that... yeah, the first seems to be out, but I'm not sure how good it is.

It also look like there will be a set of 1 and 2.

For some reason I thought there was actually a third.

But if that BD-set is a nice one (good quality etc.) I might just get that.

  • Wow! Very nice set! I really need to check this show out. I've seen a few episodes in the past, and it looks like a great show! Nice video!

  • You forgot to say "From me to you for now"! Or was that someone else who said that?

  • That was me. I'm trying to shorten the sign-off so it's not such a bloody mouthful every time...hehehe

  • can u do one about the cd-rom freedom force plese plese plese plese plese

  • I did one a while ago -

    watch?v=f0AGNJpAank

  • Question, how much did this set you back?

  • got the link to this review from JiiDee and thanks to your review I just this minute purchased the boxset on ebay. lol

gonna sub to see all the other parts. :)

  • Nice! You won't be disappointed. :) Welcome to the channel!

  • Speaking of batman, are you ever going to get batman beyond season sets? I just got them and the show is great!

  • Yes! One of these days I'll get caught up on all the Batman releases. I'd like to get everything that's out, old and new! :)

  • Yeah the DC animated universe kicks so much ass!

  • Agreed, it would awesome if one day he got the complete Batman TAS set and did a video on it.

  • fergmaster, the complete animated set is out of print from what I can tell. I have it and its not that special or amazing. It just comes with a bonus disc with a very short documentary.

  • Oh OK, I just wanted to see what it was like for real.

  • Yeah, but I'm an obsessive completist. If there's basically even a 30 second trailer that isn't on another edition, I'd get it for that. ;) Plus there's a book and the snazzy packaging with that set, so that makes it worth the upgrade for me. Also, even at scalper's prices it comes in at around the same price as the individual sets for the whole thing, so why not?

I just can't believe it went out of print so damn fast...I was only just released in November!!!

  • Yeah you are an obsessive completist, lol! And the set does look cool. So if you can get it for near the original price I'm all behind you!

  • Yeah it would.

  • "Beyond" is the one that's also known as 'Batman Of The Future' right?

Oh man, I remember watching that when I was in like the "first class" of highschool, which was like... I don't know, say 2001...

But I loved how they included Bruce Wayne from "The Animated" basically and then have this whole futuristic style to everything.

    "Schway man..." or something. XD

'The Batman' was really intriguing too.

It used to air in the morning here like last year, I thought it would be childish but it's great.

  • Great review! The DR. KATZ: PROFFESIONAL THERAPIST complete collection is slightly taller than an average keepcase as well. Would love to see you review that too!

  • I'd love to get that set, hilarious show. A bit out of my budget at the moment, though.

  • I know what you mean. I had to set some money aside for it for a while. Totally worth it, though.

  • "Shit happens, someone's gotta deal with it. And who you're gonna call?" :-D

  • i agree with the mask of the phantasm, awesome

  • by reading through the comments ive learned that the box set wont be available in the uk,i was waiting for it to come out instead of getting them seperatly...which sucks ,on the plus side i can go ahead and order the first season then ! ,about the new red dwarf ,im in two minds about it ,it was one big blade runner parody ,which i felt it was a bit of a cop out,i was looking forward to something original,at least they didnt die at the end ,i was screaming at the tv when they met their creator !

  • Great review, never seen the show but still. I look forward to your Red Dwarf review if you get round to it at one point.

  • I love this set. TimeLife don't ship to the UK though. I don't think my life will ever be complete.

  • Janine was hot she was one of my cartoon crushes lol, i don"t remember dose Janine and Egon ever hook up in the series, iam so gonna get this if i see it in the store.

  • I use to watch this show when I was a kid in the 90's. I will probably buy the individual sets.

  • nice review, i'm sad by the fact now the box is out of print and for find him i don't think i can spend 200/250$, the only alternative maybbe no is to buy the volume separaly without of course the bonus disc

  • bad english!

  • yes i know that

  • Uh...it's not out of print. It's still available from the Time Life website.

  • thanks

i take a look but apparently they only sent in America & Canada

  • wow, they really gave this show the deluxe treatment. Gonna have to pick it up.

  • the only way to get this sweet set if you leave in europe(despite of U.K) is to order it from the internet...

  • HEY ZARANYZERAK, what next anime set are you looking for?

  • You didn't show the back of the last steel book.I call Shenanigans!

  • Nice one, I never really watched the cartoon and I was still like "OMG hes finally doing the in depth review of the real ghostbusters set!" LOL, It is pretty awesome, I love that they put all the volumes in steelbooks.

  • Can I get this in the UK

  • Well that was a great review I'll give you that, however there is a few cons about the box set and pros regarding the individual sets which I will address. The box set is only avaliable throuigh Time Life North America, so fans in other countries can't buy the set. The Time Life regional companies might decide to distribute the full series, but there are currentily no plans to do so right now, so people will end up buying the individual box sets.

  • Being from the UK myself I have to buy the individual sets. Plus I'll bet that Bonus Disk will be released with Volume 5 as the obligatory fifth disk hopefully! Also James Eatock (who worked on the sets) mentions that the earlier episodes were more popular then the later ones. So the individual volumes are also good for fans who want a choice, so fans of the original episodes don't have to buy the later episodes if they don't want to, which I think is fair enough.

  • Ahhhhhh dammit... I thought we were getting a red dwarf review.. ;(

  • How much is Ghostbusters set

  • $179.99 from Time Life's website, though you can pay in monthily installments if you wish. The full set is only avaliable from their website.

  • God I hate the slimer.

it was the origin for my childhood nightmares

  • Haha, nice video.. There's a ghostbusters video game coming out for Ps3 soon:P are you going to buy that game?

  • Maybe

  • Hellz yeah! I've been really looking forward to that game since the first teaser trailers came out over a year ago! :)

  • nice

  • Excellent XD

    Great update
