What Sir Roger Norrington's speech was saying was that music brings people together, Although a fair amount of songs played are though as, as british "Anthems". Land of Hope and Glory is all about pride of your homeland, no matter where it is. There is a reason why there are so many different national flags at the proms.

I'm not really sure if this is a good thing, but everytime i hear this song i feel very patriotic towards Great Brittain. I don't mind but it seems kind of weird... mostly because i'm Swedish. On the other hand we are not allowed to be proud of our country, som i'm proud of yours instead.

But being proud of your country over here makes people consider you to be a nationalist or possibly a "Sverigedemokrat", which is like a brittish national party member, just swedish instead. It's been that way since WW2. Still a great country, you just need to keep quiet about it.

I often feel that National Pride is a rather empty feeling at times. It is much like Religious zeal a great mass of people all believe in one thing and are empowered by their fellow citizen agreeing with them. That being said however I find it hard not to be proud of being British.

I am half English and half Welsh. I am now a Canadian but still consider myself a loyal Brit. I have St George's Cross at home and the Welsh dragon. I didn't see the Welsh flag there, When you talk about tolerance read about how they attempted to stamp out the Welsh by punishing kids who spoke it at school. All that's over now.

Because mainstream politicians have ignored important issues for too long and have been too quick to call the racist card. Patriots have all sorts of political views and different reasons to love their country. To be unable to understand that is a deficiency you have. You may be surprised to learn that i personally agree with most of what you say. But my mind is also open enough to understand that some people are afraid to see their homeland change hugely, and without them ever being asked.

As soon as the government began to ignore the legitimate concerns of millions of people and became so quick to brand people racists it was only a matter of time before they began to think of themselves as such. If the mainstream parties alienate them and call them racist they will believe themselves to be that very thing. That is why the BNP did so well in the last 13 years.

58% NO
15% Dont know / Would not vote
This is on top of the fact in the general election about 3 weeks ago over 75% of the votes in Scotland went to unionist parties who strongly oppose the break up of the United Kingdom.

I thought Cameron was poor last night. Considering Labour has DOUBLED our nation's national debt in just 13 years and sold half of our gold reserves off on the cheap, he rarely attacks their awful economic record.
For once, I felt Brown did well. He exposed Clegg's bizarre idea to disarm our nation at a time when Iran and North Korea appear to be close to attaining nuclear weapons. It's interesting that UKIP are the only party to want to give the English a Parliament of their own though.
