What is the use of demonstrating martial art skills in front of the English people. English have already defeated Sikh warriors in Second Anglo-Sikh War which took place in 1848 and 1849. The skills of Niddar's forefathers did not work at that time, how they would work in future?

You feel discriminated in England because of racial reasons. Is Discrimination not prevalent in India ? in fact India is a country which Institutionalized discrimination in form of CASTE SYSTEM. Read book by B.R.Ambedkar "Annihilation of Caste". Is this not slavery ?

All martial arts most definitely do NOT come from India; most were created/developed independently from each other, then changed as they were exposed to other flavours and methods of fighting. The oldest record of martial arts currently known would have to be a form of grappling depicted on the walls of Tomb 15 in Ancient Egypt(Tomb of Beni Hasan, I believe.) Last I checked, the tomb dates to the 20th century B.C.

Read the title my friend, the reason the demontrators are fighting in a slower movement is because they are DEMONSTRATING... there's a difference in sparring and demonstrating. You can't teach through sparring at "normal" or "superfluous" speeds, only through slower and isolated movements. Now my turn. "I'm getting to a simple answer"- Your an idiot.

@dumallawalasingh shaster vidya is a martial art for spritually advanced warriors. It was altered by the sikhs to be more effective than hindu shaster vidya. the basic idea behind it is to kill your opponent using the least amount of energy possible, and normally with in 1 move- Chatka.

a fight should not last more than a few seconds per kill.

sikhs have respect for all martial arts and religions and cultures.

all martialarts come from india, including kung fu-

The ten Gurus gave their lives and put it into Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj and you're here saying it's not the only Guru.

Guru Nanak Dev Ji and Waheguru are no different. Register on sikhsangat(dot)com and ask your questions and you will get a deep "philosophical" answer

For a Sikh, he only believes in Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj. Dasam Granth has hindu writings that exposes old kirshna vishnu human gods because they went down and started to drink alcohol. Also exposes all the corrupt bahman regimes. That is something to warn the Sikhs, not to call a Guru.

@GabhrooShakeen09 I agree that shaster vidhiya (what Guru Sabs used) is much, much more deadly than gatka. Gatka isn't meant to be deadly, it's for show really.

I like what Niddar Singh si doing, I'm just against his views. Guru Gobind Singh Ji said, Raj Karega Khalsa Age Rahe No Koi Sab Sikhan Ko Human Hai Guru Maneyo Granth.

We as Sikhs should have full faith in Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. Sri Dasam Granth isn't our Guru and it shouldn't change our Sikhi that Gurus gave us.

@0GurtejS In honestly i think Niddar Singh is ill-intentioned. He seems to be knowledgeable in Shaster Vidiya, but it's something many Nihung Singhs in Punjab would know. A lot of his views are misinterpretations of Sri Dasam Granth and other Hindufied views. He doing two things:

1. Turning Sri Dasam Granth into a Guru, something that will never happen.

2. Twisting Sri Dasam Granth to his own ill-hindufying Sikhi intentions.

@CalSingh Well, you clearly don't study Shastar Vidya with the Akhara then, and my advice to you would be that you stop confusing the use of traditional Indian IMAGERY for idol-worship...

and besides there is nothing wrong with Hinduism and what you would call Hindu beliefs (beliefs which arise from the various civilizations of the Indus valley) even according to Sikhism...it is a traditional indian martial art and it will stay that way...
