  • well done, but I feel like it's really boring textbook phrasing ... could have used a little more shape. all of the eighths are so straight and perfect, needs some contour in my opinion, but that's just my opinion ...

  • Anyone else notice that it says "gay" in tags.

  • way to go boys ...you rocked it

  • Does it sound good? Obviously. Is it more than just good? naww, choir boys just sing the words.

  • If I weren't stuck here in California, I would move just to audition for them. They are terrific. Gentlemen, I can't thank you enough. Please keep up the excellent work!

  • This sounds good from a technical aspect, but it just lacks the passion that should be behind the song. Pleasant nonetheless.

  • Our Choiraliers (select choir) is sing this song for our benefit concert. such a beautiful song. :')

  • I like satb better it adds idk flavor or something but we did this

  • robotic. however good for a group performing a song that should not be sung by a group

  • We sung this at our high school's graduation. Such a pretty song!

  • I love all men choirs! So beautiful

  • I'm gonna be performing ths song soon. :)

  • i luuuuvvvvvvvvv this songggggggg

  • i wld agree wit u on dat.....dats da only thing it lacked...but overall....great harmony throughout

  • I just recently performed this same arrangement, and it's sad to see the complete loss of emotion in this version as compared to the original. Our director heavily focused on the emotional aspect and message of this piece, as the song itself really isn't much of a challenge to learn. I just wish that whoever directed the HMC had tried the same.

  • dis song is speakin the truth....make them hear u.......love da chord at da end

  • lol(: we sang this at CTSWS(:

  • lol! this sounds like gregorian chant

  • Such a fitting song! The message works just the same!

  • I guess for choral versions, you have to make the rhythms and phrasing more rigid for the sake of synchronization...but fo serious? Almost all the beauty of the piece is gone.

  • thats what happens when a bunch of white guys try to sing this song

  • wow...i'm sorry...but there is no emotion...i just watched the actual version from the musical, and i just can't appreciate this. It may be different, but i feel that the emotion needs to be brought out...and it wasn't.

  • um they got good voices but

    boo!

  • i agree. this is almost robotic. not impressed.

  • Could this possibly BE any more emotionless and bland??

  • I really like your sound. Nice tuning.

    But a bit too fast.

  • very nicely done, but why so fast???

  • d00d i love this song.

  • YARRA

    btw o miles sucks

  • got owned in instrumentals.

  • We're going to start learning for our mens group at school, I can't wait!

  • i love this song we have a mens choir and a treble choir at my school and we're doing this song together and its soo beautiful

  • We are doing this song in my choir soon, it's a mixed qhoir but it is a really moving peicce

  • So beautiful

  • Where is the emotion? The notes are in tone, dynamics, but I don't think these guys are really listening to the words they are saying! You may not be able to relate to the black people the song was written for/about, but the words apply to everything in any given situation that applies to life. Feel the meaning of the song. This was very boring.

  • I completely agree. This song was originally a musical theatre song intended to just scream emotion, and there is NO feeling whatsoever. Even if your a choral group, you still must have musical/emotional phrases in a song. Music is about expressing yourself. I feel nothing.

  • this was sung by a chorus.

i know it was originally written for a musical but you have to admit, this song is good for a chorus as well as a musical.

and people in a chorus are not guaranteed good actors. that's why this is a "boring" song.

i thought it was very good.

    incredibly sung.

  • im sorry but i completely disagree with you this song is horrible with a choral arrangement its meant to be sung and acted very intensly and its impossible to do that will a large group of people it should be done as a duet or quartet at the most

  • Quiet fool.

  • yeah well, "I Will Always Love You" is a country ballad that should ONLY be sung to country audiences & not interpreted by one of the greatest voices of all time. Did you even listen to what you wrote before you did it? This is an execelent arrangement. It is not meant to sound like the original version or even to have the exact same meaning. It is a song that is interpreted by and for gay men. But I guess like all "black" music, what's yours is yours & what's ours is yours. Just simply stupid.

  • I don't think it has anything to do with being black. The rhythms are just too rigid, which is an arrangement issue, not a race issue.

  • @Neezma I thought this was a pretty poor performance of the song. The intination is shaky at best, but by far the largest problem is the poor blend of the chorus.

Regardless, I think it is a lovely song. I sang this in the Georgia Men's Honor Chorus my senior year in high school and I remember it being my favorite part of the program.

  • Yeah, although they sang it well...There was no emotion : (

  • choral songs need emotion too. as do orchestras, bands, soloists, dancers, paintings, sculptures...every expression of art needs emotion. technically good does not mean good.

  • beautiful song - great musical

  • i love this song

  • my class is learning this song this week for our schools assembly! Its a nice song, just like the song Poplular

  • The Miami Gay Mens Chorus is doing a Tribute to the US Veterans in June 2008 and they are using this during the Civil War section, and like the Heartland Men, the Miami Gay Men's Chorus sounds GREAT

  • It would be nice if someone could find a video of Brian Stokes Mitchell singing this. In my opinion he sings this song the best and I haven't heard or seen a better interpretation.

  • our allstate senior men's choir is singing this im excited about it

  • omg im in georgias all state mens senior chorus too. well i guess i'll see u there i'm a freshman btw

  • thts cool im a junior hisyear but i'll see u there

  • sounds good

  • I remember you from that Columbus High video, but anyway, we did this song with the SATB arrangement at Hardaway both my 10th grade year, and they let me sing with them this year. It's one of my favorite choral songs!

  • NOT ONLY DO SHOWTUNES ROCK, BUT HEARTLAND MEN'S CHORUS ROCKS. can i blubber now?

  • Pitch and tone is perfect, but the tempo is too rushed and exact, its needs to be more flowing

  • I personally like the tempo. It makes the song seem to push and add weight. There are two main ways in stressing ideas in a song, stretching the tempo (making it more flowing) or a constant, well planned cresendo...I think they did the second.

  • In a full choir it's difficult to show as much emotion as a Brian Sotkes Mitchell Soloist can, still though, this song is supposed to be a heartfelt speech at the end of a play and needs to be more personal and moving

  • I agree... Of course 1 voice versus 150 voices is a totally different game in tempo. I think they just played it safe with the tempo and used the "pressing" method to give emotion.

  • on the far right on some of the camera angles, theres someone doing sign language

  • Simply amazing. Not Brian Stokes Mitchel obviously, but as a singer and a theater major in training, I can say that this is simply beautiful work. Though I found the bass/baritone lacking a bit.
