the thing is my r8 v8 only made 377,8 hp on that testmashine( dont know how to call it in english) but you have to add about another 20hp because of the missing driving air you dont have on that testmashine.witch makes about pretty much 400 hp. and the rs4 has even less because it has a worse airsucking track. i have seen an rs4 with only 365hp+ 20hp. but the new r8 v10 doesnt have these kind of problems. because it has the lp 560 engine with just worse airsucking track.wich makes finally 525 hp

At the end of the day your purchase has to reflect what you want out of a car. Ie. you want a big fast luxo GT buy a Bentley Cont. GT Speed or alike.........if you want a light weight for the track buy a GT3........Horses for courses. Fuck who's fasters just enjoy what you bought :)

Where live seeing a 911 is no big deal...........I see them all the time. I also see plenty of Merc SL's, Aston Martins, Bently's, the occasional ferrari and lambo. But I have seen the Audi R8 maybe 2 or 3 times and every time I see it I look with envy..........It really is an impressive looking sports car.

The 911 is a great car.. sure, but its has now become so common that you may not want one.. and they are kind of boring now.. they dont make the greatest sound and there is competition from audi and aston that are impressive.. like the R8 or the V8 Vantage

Understand where you are coming from, but as ive had 2 997's, i couldnt justify spending 80k on an audi or something like an aston. For sure the r8 is nice, but its an audi and aston are nice looking but the 997 has destroyed it in most tests (355bhp and series 2 385bhp. In 2005 when i bought my first carrera 2s Cab i pondered with getting the aston, i had one for 2 days on trial, great looking nice sound, but build quality was not good and gearbox was rubbish.

A friend bought the aston v8, the same time as i bought my first 997, its worthless now compared with the porsche. I also believe that the 997 is the most usable sports car as i can get my kids in the back and it has a boot(trunk) which is usable. As for sound and looks i dont think many would disagree the gallardo sounds awesome and has to be one of the best looking cars ever produced. Now its owned by porsche it has the build quality too.

Aston v8 vantage's have lost a fortune on depreciation. Dont know if you saw top gear aston v m6 v c2s around the isle of man with the stig driving, the carrera was considerable faster at all the split stages and had 140bhp less. I think you would change your mind if you drove it. If you want a good sound, stand next to a carrera gt with straight pipes. Formula one car comes to mind.

The RS4 weighs 3,695 pounds, and the R8 weighs 3,450 pounds. The Porsche weighs about 3,100 pounds. It really does have a HUGE weight advantage. And Porsches generally have really intense and quick revving engines, Audi takes a more sensible approach. Audi's have amazing engines, but the power isn't delivered as aggressively (partially due to the fact that they are all wheel drive). But you never know for sure; what we need is a race!

I think it might technically be stock. They called it a powerkit in the video but there is an option on the Carrera S called the Sport Chrono Kit, which basically just squeezes a bit more power from the engine. I'm not positive but that could very well be what it is.

The Carrera 2S would still probably win. Watch the video "Porsche 911 Carrera 2S vs Audi RS4". The Porsche significantly beats the RS4, which has the same engine as the R8. And the R8 is only marginally lighter than the RS4. The Porsche is just much, much lighter.

Yes it is. Directly from the Porsche factory they offer many upgrade kits for their cars. i.e. powerkit for C2s, GT3 aero kit, exhaust options, sport package options, which they all add either power or add some sort of sport to the car. I know on the Carrera 2 they offer GT3 style seats which save alot of weight over stock. Technically its from the factory so it is stock.

Think man, the R8 has at least 60bhp more than the Carrera 2S, its acceleration time is about 0.8 seconds faster, and it has more g's. How 'bout a 911 GT3 vs. R8? That's a 5bhp difference (420 for R8, 415 for 911 GT3), 0.1-second-0-to-60mph difference as well (4.1 for R8, 4.0 for GT3). And they're both well priced very-high-performance sports cars.

Maybe you're right, but I sent a letter to Audi persuading them to continue with the R8 V12 sometime in late 2009 or early 2010, and they said it will get to 60mph in 3.6. The Corvette ZR1 gets to 60mph in 3.4. But of course, Audi just sent me estimates. It will be a powerhouse, though, and it will have a voice-activated navigation system, voice-activated start, seat massage, everything. And BTW, the R8 usually will kick the Carrera 2's ass. Try the R8 versus the 911 GT3. That'd be a good comp.

That is completely false. The japanese ignore the general cosmetics and focus primarily on the engine to a degree. I own a 350z and after 2 years of ownership and 3000k miles in that time, the car's paint is already chipping, the interior paint is chipping, but the 3.5 is very strong indeed. But they could have put more R&D into the VQ35DE to create a more powerful powerplant.
